Great video. I always look up SRR while in thrift stores even if I sold a similar item quickly 3 months ago. It's aggravating sometimes after thrifting for 2-3 hours in a great store then spending 15-30 min. to look everything up however it's really paid off. I have a very high STR bc of it. I appreciate your videos. You have a lot of experience in selling ,and accurate with your information. Thank you!
I find that the algorithm severely affects my sell through as I list different items/ categories. I was on a 35 day roll in one category and when I was down on those items and started listing other items, with great sell through rates, my sales dropped drastically. I think they like consistency not only in listing practices but product type as well. Jmho
You mentioned eBay will lower your store rankings if you have old listings not selling for months. Does cancelling and sell similar make this better and erase it as an old listing?
Whats your take on paying for sponsored listings on Ebay? I've heard mixed reviews, some saying they love it, great way to liquidate stale inventory, some saying it seems like once you start using paid ads it seems like listings without the ad slow down tremendously in sales until you bite the bullet and start paying for ads on those listings. Whats your experience?
Fastest selling items so far was a signed bronze statue. My other favorite fastest and high profit sales are vintage Barbies, vintage Gameboys and games, Texas Instruments graphing calculators. Ralph Lauren bed linens. The only problem is I can't find any more of them so it's not a viable business model. I'm an hour south of you.
Is the view of numbers of available items only searchable by eBay sellers? I don’t see those numbers when I search, when I want to see the numbers, I look for sold, it’ll tell me how many items they’re searching, then it’ll tell the number of sold?
I liked the video and your math is definitely on point but I feel that certain niches within a brand are faster sellers, such as for Fiestaware you do have to narrow that down more. The salt and pepper shakers for example are around 32% STR. Those are easy to list and ship and sell pretty quickly. However the category in general like you sampled would be slower.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Casey! FINALLY - someone got it right. You wouldn't believe how many YT resellers teach sell-through rate wrong. I have never seen someone teach it the right way until now. I yell at them through my screen because not only do they get it wrong, but then they teach others to do it wrong, also! Doing it the right way, you came to a sell-through rate of 45%. Doing it the wrong way, you get a sell-through rate of 81%. So, not only are they wrong, but they are VERY wrong and they use this wrong information to make bad decisions and teach others to do the same. Thanks again for getting it - and teaching it - right!
They still argue with me, so there is ONE WAY to make. them say...oops. WHat is there is 500 active, and 500 in sold. 500/500= 100% sell through rate.. did 100% of those sell? They stop very quickly and get it
I sell sports cards. Postcards. Trading cards and I have another account that sells remotes and cameras. We also sell everything via my wholesale site on shopify.
Haha, I wouldn't be able to find enough of that stuff to even keep my bills paid. Also, high end phones and laptops are items that bad buyers target most, no thanks. I'll stick to a big store full of low sell thru items instead. List it and forget it.
TONS of legit buyers are buying those items every second of the day. You just have to know how to sell and identify good from bad, which is why i give the warning
1700 sold but at the time they sold, you really have no idea what the inventory level was during those sales. Might have only been 2000 and the other 1800 were listed in the last 20 days.
While that’s true, we know for a FACT that in those 90 days the 1700 sold, and the currently active had to have been listed before today. We have NO way to determine which day each was listed etc so this is the best we have
People think sell through rate is difficult and most youtubers don't help make it easier. People don't wanna try to do hard calculations in thier head. A simple method is to divide the listed by the sold. If there is more than 2 times the sold number as listed, don't buy. This means your floor is 50% sell through.
I understand your reasoning for wanting to get the exact sell through, but my way is a quicker, although less accurate way, to do it while out sourcing. The majority of the time it gives you around a 32% -34% true sell through rate, and you can easily do this in your head on the fly. Test it and see.
@@Silverhawk25 I’ll go with accuracy over an extra 5 seconds. I can do the math just as quickly basically. Zero reason to do something incorrectly and knowingly. No thank
Not even for a minute. #1- the highest return items are the highest profit ones #2- the fastest selling items are the highest profit items. Phones. Tablets computers etc My friend deals in phones and averages $75-$100 profit per item. Meanwhile clothing sellers average $10/$15 It’s not to late to delete this comment
What are your favorite categories to sell in?
Sporting goods, more specifically gun parts
Goosebumps! I found a Goosebumps bookmark in a DVD case and the thing sold for $16 in a day! For a bookmark of all things.

Excellent video! This was very helpful bc I've been looking at sell through rates completely wrong.
Thanks rockstar for the video..I had a couple things that had 150% those items flew quick lol
Thank you Casey for showing us again. Since I switched categories I am going to run the new numbers.
Yes!! always nice to see where you are
You mentioned eBay will lower your store rankings if you have old listings not selling for months. Does cancelling and sell similar make this better and erase it as an old listing?

I use NORMAL promoted at 2% and it works (NOT ADVANCED). You only pay if they sell
Good video! Thank you!
You got it! thanks for watching
Ridden, I have a question for you.. do you sell alot of out of country sales on eBay?
Some, not a ton, but some
Hey just checking on you. Didn't know how close you guys were to the tornado. Hope your fine, and didnt get damage.
All good thank you! about 30 mins from us
@RockstarFlipper too close smh
Well doesn't it matter when figuring sell through rate if used or new to break down?!

Anyone can search it on eBay. No store needed
Thanks for your knowledge, see you soon at BOSS!
See you there!

Casey you don't sell anything else but cards anymore?
I sell sports cards. Postcards. Trading cards and I have another account that sells remotes and cameras. We also sell everything via my wholesale site on shopify.

Noones going to tell you their sources
I like this type video
Good to know thank you!

Thats incorrect which i explain in here. you don't divide listed by sold. Check why in the video again

Fastest means = low profit and high returns.
Its better to find something in the middle.

Inventory costs money! It takes space and has already eaten your time, which you could have used for more profitable things.
Great video! Thank you!
Anytime!!
