    You can say what you want about Warrior's promo about putting Hogan's airplane in a nose dive, but every single 10-year-old at the time was 100% on board with him. I remember on the lead-up to WM6, there was actual fist fights on the playground over who was going to win. That was how in to it kids were then. Compare that to now. I really don't see any kid caring enough about if Roman Reigns was going to win at Wrestlemania that he's willing to get a bloody lip fighting another kid.

    • @RobwLPOC
      @RobwLPOC Год назад +20

      I was a severely hyper kid and I FREAKING loved his energy and strangeness.
      Then, when I was about 12, I saved up a bunch of money from my many paper routes for a month, then went early and waited in line for a few hours so I could get good seats (got row 2 centre ring) to see the main event of The Ultimate Warrior VS Kamala at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver BC. It was about 100 for the two tickets,(even back then for prime floor seats at a house show, Ticketmaster fees, various taxes etc) plus I covered parking for my uncle who drove and went with me, plus the program, plus my food and drinks=
      a grand total altogether of about $150
      Warrior ran full speed to the ring, shook the ropes on two sides, then gave Kamala about 4 or 5 clotheslines coming off the ropes, did the "hop splash" onto Kamala for the 1-2-3 pin, rolled out of the ring and ran full speed out of the arena to the back. Including his entrance, the match and his exit The Ultimate Warrior was in actual view of fans in the arena FOR A TOTAL OF 3 MINUTES... IF THAT. It was probably closer to 2 - 2 1/2 but I will be generous and call it 3.
      Total SPENT to see The Ultimate Warrior $150
      Total TIME ACTUALLY SEEING the Ultimate Warrior 3 minutes
      Even at 12 years old I quickly realized I had just spent $50 a freaking minute to see the guy.
      I was definitely not the only one booing extremely loudly and feeling totally pissed at what a rip-off of a main event it was. The entire crowd was hot! After maybe 30 seconds of booing, we just started chanting "that was bull$h!t!!!"
      I have hated the Warrior with a passion ever since then. Long before It was popular, before I realized he was actually a horrible in-ring wrestler and before I had heard stories that he was a dick/not at all liked backstage by pretty much everyone to sway my judgment... I hated the guy's guts for my own personal reason= he disappointed me horribly and ripped me off when I worked so hard just to see him.

      😂 I don’t more what’s funnier, you thinking that “He was cool when I was 10” is somehow a compliment, or the fact that you think you have a finger on the pulse of the kinds of discussions happening on playground of today. Actually, scratch that - it’s not funny. The first one is just sad. The second one downright creepy.

      Freddie worked for the company till his death. He no longer managed wrestlers after 1986 . He worked in the office and did behind the scenes stuff .

    Jim Cornette said it best. Warrior had a million dollar look with zero wrestling ability; was promoted to the moon by Vince McMahon; had other wrestlers get beat to put Warrior over.

    What I never can understand is why guys like Sean who was just an announcer, not a wrestler had to take showers after the matches. I believe Pat arranged all this

    • @aaronnoel7859
      @aaronnoel7859 Год назад +2

      Of course you do. Or, maybe because it's a sport where sweat and blood is spread everywhere, and announcers are in close proximity of these wrestlers, they decided to contain the staph infections and just have everyone shower, while people disinfect the place.

    • @jabrockobiden9434
