That was beautiful, Sally! It must have been challenging to play, and then to memorize it is Herculean!💪 Portions I thought I could play (about a third of the way in) but that confidence didn’t last long. There is a section which is meditative and then it is followed by wildness. Mastery in composition and playing here. I didn’t know fingers could move like that! Thank you for sharing, and polishing my Sunday evening.

I marvel at the contrasting sections, from the opening drumbeats of the religious processional march theme to the huge jangling bells in the left hand playing the melody notes of a hymn. He amazingly turns these notes into the meditative "saeta" section, one of the most sublime moments in music. This piece does become wild towards the end with some of the most difficult writing for the piano. It is a tour de force and one of Albéniz's most magnificent works! 🎉 Always with best wishes to you and with your playing. 🎵

Fete-Dieu à Séville is truly one of the greatest pieces in the Spanish classical piano repertoire. I understand and agree that it is hard to put in words all of the different feelings we might feel, especially on a first listening. The middle section and the ending are especially profound. After multiple learnings and re-learnings, I am beginning to feel somewhat comfortable playing this piece. Lol! Philip (Lorenz) used to say that there is almost always a way to negotiate a technical challenge, and that our fingers, hands, and mind will "find a way" if we stay with it and don't give up.
