  • Probably the greatest pregame intro ever produced for a college football game. The game that followed lived up to the hype.

That's it...I am going to write NBC and tell them that either on Saturday, November 10th or on Wednesday, November 13th of 2013, they should play this game in its entirety. This is the greatest game ever...No doubt about it.

88cutty You ain't kidding, when EVERY Bowl game meant something and all the Majors were played on NY Eve or NY Day. Oh, and don't forget to add Replay to your list. I believe Officials have gotten worse due to the ability to check the video, which somehow still ends up being incorrect at times. Conferences should have had to stay @ 8 or 10 teams and they have to play each one BEFORE adding their bogus out of conference games... and no more schools who aren't Division 1. If you play all of your conference schools, there's no need for a bogus Conf. Championship game. I would rather live with the polls than this Playoff system, which is still decided by humans.

Great, hard fought contest in which an all-freshman FSU O-line showed a lot of courage and the Seminoles produced a second half that was enough to win. There's hope for a national title re-match this year with both teams unbeaten. I hope for both our sakes we end up on the big game.

I was fortunate to have witnessed that game in person . My son(attending FSU @ the time) had a ticket as his friend backed out, picked me up in Atlanta & drove to Indianapolis for a round of golf @ Crookedstick before arriving in South Bend for College Game Day before the game .Excuse the run-on sentence. What an experience! Met some nice Domer fans & remember my son's amazement after meeting a family consisting of a Great grand father, grand father, father, and son who were ND fans. He remarked that FSU couldn't match that extensive legacy. The seats extend down close to the field. Our seats were in the end zone and were literally 6 feet from the back end line of the end zone . ND let the grass grow tall enough to cover the players shoes to their ankles. I remember the calves of the ND linesmen's legs the size of our players thighs .Their bathrooms were deplorable and were ankle deep in piss @ halftime.
It was windy as hell and most TDs were scored with the wind. If I remember correctly we scored first on a pass into the end zone less than 10 ft. in front of us. We ran into the end zone and high fived our receiver. A unique experience I may say. ND led late in the 4th Qtr Charlie Ward led a drive deep into ND territory but they intercepted his pass in the end zone as the game expired. We were devastated as that defeat allowed the Irish to take over the #1 spot late in the season. Boston College upset ND the very next week paving the way for our 1st National Championship.
What an experience considering I did not even plan to attend until the Wednesday evening before the game. We also got to tour the INDY Speedway on the trip.

As a lifelong FSU fan, it just hit me that the '93 ND win against the Noles has probably been the last greatest win in program history. To be more specific...the SECOND quarter of that game was probably the greatest quarter of football for the Irish since then. The only other great moments I can think of would be Willingham's great start (and win vs FSU in 'Tally) in his first or second year, but they still finished that season blundering...

The Irish pushed around FSU the field all day in this game. FSU made it close at the end but ND never received the credit it deserved for the beating the "unbeatable team of the century". The media had already made up its mind early in the season that FSU was getting the title.

LaVar, good list, especially 2001 Miami and 1972 USC. Other great teams in history:
-2004 USC - two Heisman winners, won title game 55-19
-1956 Oklahoma - last and arguably greatest Sooner team of their 47-game winning streak
-1947 Notre Dame - 41 players went on to play pro ball, they never trailed in any game
-1901 Michigan - outscored teams 550-0, won first Rose Bowl by 7 TDs
-1888 Yale - outscored opponents 694-0, largest difference ever, beat undefeated Princeton in last game
