  • Join me as I venture into the enchanting woodlands of Padley Gorge with my good friend Tom Ward - ‪@wardastrophotography5098‬ , in search of the elusive fog that often graces this captivating landscape. While the fog may have been absent, the beauty of the woodland was undeniable, and I made the most of the opportunity to capture stunning compositions.
    In this video, I'll be sharing some of my favorite woodland photography techniques, as well as exploring a variety of compositions, both new and familiar. I'll also be discussing the importance of practicing compositions, and how setting yourself goals can help you to improve your skills.
    As a way of putting this into practice, I set myself the challenge of capturing 5 different images from a single location. This was a great way to force myself to think outside the box and come up with creative compositions.
    If you're looking for inspiration for your own woodland photography, then be sure to check out this video. I hope you enjoy it!

      No 3 for me. I’m trying hard to not like the millstone shot, but can’t help but find 3 the best. It isn’t about the stone though, more the branch’s and rocks on the left. It has a nice balance to it. You could photoshop out the honeypot stone and I’d still find it the best I think. Cheers mate, the thought and detail you put into things is inspiring

      Definitely lots of climbing trees there 😂 thanks for watching and commenting Chris. I was quite surprised with no3, the more I look at it I really like the balance in the scene as you say. Glad you find it inspiring, if I can just inspire 1 person from my videos my work is done 🙂

    If I ever go to Padley Gorge that first tree would be the one that I would take pictures of! I know every single composition to get some great pictures....but I know I will never go there, it really is a great place for tree photography, your honey pot location is just that and it's wonderful, well done I enjoyed watching you take all those stunning pictures...no 1

    I've been to Padley Gorge a couple of times but living north of Bolton I find the drive there a real chore. I rarely shoot in portrait orientation so prefer you landscape images and too be honest I liked those from the second visit the best capturing more of the mood of the day. Thank Martin I enjoy your videos

    Some lovely images there Martin. Really liked the last one you took on the first day. Padley Gorge is amazing and I’ve walked through loads of times, but being a relative newbie to photography, I’ve never taken anything other than a phone shot there. I imagine that in prime Autumn conditions that there are a load of photographers there and that always puts me off going as I always feel out of my comfort zone around experienced photographers. Having said that, inspired by yours and Steve’s videos I have really started to enjoy woodland photography and practicing in my local area. It’s very challenging but probably the most rewarding when you come away with a shot you really like. Look forward to seeing your other woodland images as the colours start to come through.

      Thanks Anthony, it's a cracking location, but far better on a weekday when it's a lot less busy. Woodland photography for me is a great escape and find the process very relaxing, glad you're enjoying it.

    Hi Martin I struggle with Padley Gorge, it's a stunning location but very challenging especially with no mist. Out of the 5x images you took at the classic spot I prefer the portrait one with millstone and tree. That tree you found is stunning and I don't recall seeing it before. I notice Steve Stain has already nicked your composition 😂. I'm in the area this weekend so will have a look for it. I've also got an 8mm (12mm in FF) lens on hire from Fuji so will obviously use it at the classic location

    • @MHLandscape
      @MHLandscape  Год назад +1

      Thanks Paul, glad it's not just me that finds it challenging. I agree on the shot you mentioned, think it was number 2. Hope you find that tree we found and Steve stole 😂 it's not long before the millstone shot, next to the river. Your 12mm will be ideal! Would love to see what you get, I'm guessing the colours should be spot on now.
