Your tape masking lines/edges are ✨ABSOLUTELY FANTASTiC✨As they say, 90% of a GREAT paint job is preparation. Your use of modifying a CD case to make little lenses for your headlights was sheer, unadulterated, ✨GENiUS✨I am nearly SPEECHLESS when it comes to describing the sensational job that you did with this build. You should be mighty proud of yourself, good sir, this is A➕➕➕work, my friend. WoW. Just WoW❗️ Don’t EVEN get my started on your custom INGEN tower…holy sh*t❗️😍❗️Bloody phenomenal work, mate. 💯
Some electrical tape inside those cd rom system tunnels would eliminate that light bleed. This thing looks way better! Amazing job, can’t wait to throw down some details on mine.
thats better than the iron studios explorer thats fantastic maybe you could sell some on etsy I would buy one maybe make a number 5 since we have number 4
Thank you for documenting this! I came across a used version of this one, with just the car and was on the fence, but at 20 bucks plus shipping, this video convinced me to pull the trigger for the exact same kind of project.
I've got 2 sets. One that I'm going to destroy and make a diorama for the T-Rex scene where she busts through the fence and wreaks havoc the Explorer and the kids and I think I may try lighting up the other set like you did and maybe paint the T-Rex to be more realistic. Cool job!
Brilliant work on this. I just got the set and I'm thinking I'll at least paint mine... but those lights are pretty cool. (I'm impressed most by the light up screens inside.)
Well, I’m in love.❤️. You did an awesome job on the finer paint details and the thought process for the LEDs was well considered. The door panels as requested look great. If you remember the flare scene from the movie the flares were in a box in the rear storage (boot) so the holder for the 9V battery (dry cell?) could have sufficed if you don’t do the storage cover. The b pillars and possibly the other green interior parts would be nicer in beige but not necessarily a detractor. Also the seats are lighter than expected so maybe a beige wash (?) over them would tone the colours better. I would like to know in a visual form what tools and equipment you used or would recommend to get the details correctly applied, such as brushes, so we could get a specific brand or size. To apply the black satin was it an airbrush or regular? It would be great to be there in person watching you make this. Again, awesome job. Envious and in love with the Explorer.
Well the way I've done this is so it's not too over the top in detail. I didn't want to sacrifice function over looks. So I added the details that where it seemed most applicable. The trunk accessories are a nice idea but I don't think you'll see them enough to appreciate them. As for paints I just used a very cheap airbrush kit from Amazon. And paints were a combo of Vallejo airbrush paints IE: black, sand beige, red and aerosol cans for the clear coats. But if you ever have a go at this yourself I'd love to see what you come up with👍👍
Thanks. I modded the jeep a while back. There's a video I did reviewing the nedry getaway pack. In that video I show what I did to the jeep to make it better.
I used a matt black spray paint and sealed it with a satin lacquer. I had to mask off everywhere on the doors that didn't want to get sprayed. It takes a little more prep time but the end rest looks nice and factory looking.
Hi, the screws are tricky to remove in the wheel wells. I used a thin positive screwdriver and went in at an angle to the screw. Once I knew I was on the head of the screw I applied slight pressure against the wheel just enough to push it out the way to fully undo the screw. This screw doesn't need to be replaced after as the other screws and clips hold the body in place rather well. Hope this helps
At the end of the day it is a toy, so I wanted to keep its practical nature still true but with better paint apps. I'm not looking for a screen accurate car here just an improvement on what Mattel gave us :)
Hi mate I run the U.K jurassic park Facebook group facebook.com/groups/1613797925400584/?ref=share just to let you know the decal for the tyres should read "Radial all terrain T/A. I'm doing my custom atm and I noticed that the gaps between your tyre decals were a lot larger than mine then realised its because you are missing the word "Radial"

Happy to help inspire 👍👍
That’s incredible! Nice work!
Great job attention to detail! And nice job on the matching TRex!
Thank you
You forgot to add the Kenner rocket launcher to the back. 🤣🤣🤣
You've done a fantastic job with the explorer. I'm going to have to pick one up now! 👍

Thankyou. It's definitely worth doing the painting. Makes such an improvement to the toy :)
Excellent modification 🎉
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I may have to get myself another to mod!
Wow, looks amazing! Might have to try one myself.
Brillaint video. Will definitely be referring back to this when I do mine. 🤣
What a nice difference. Definitely worth the time and effort. I can’t wait to get one.
Thank you. I've recently added sounds to the explorer too. Check my Instagram stories for a demo
Great video!
Thanks man :)
Jurassic-ally impressive sir!
Thankyou 😊
as a JP fan, this is insanely awesome!!!!!!!
Awww thankyou :)

@@nathyvader29 awesome, and I checked out your pics on Instagram also. Your living my JP dream…
@@barron204 always 👍👍
Just amazing ^^ Also love the Explorex! :P (Not Rexplorer...?)
Like it like iiiiiiiiiiit :D
I plan to do the same with mine as well
If I were you, I'd definitely paint the battery to look like a first aid kit or something. Otherwise, magnificent job!
In another video I've added a parcel shelf concealing the battery compartment and mad park maps too. And thankyou 😊
VERY cool.
I would love to see LED lights put on the mobile command center. That would be amazing
Hmmm….any chance you can link up the wheel cover acrylic piece you bought on eBay? It looks perfect!
Hi, great job!! What scale is this??
It's in scale with 3.75 figures. The cars about 1:18
@@nathyvader29 thanks bro!! I got a Nanmu T rex, hopefully this car fix well with it.
i had a dream once that i went to jurassic park and all the dinosaurs had the explorers color scheme/pattern
Amazing. I’ll be doing this to my explorer soon!
Any plans to mod the jeep?
Thanks. I modded the jeep a while back. There's a video I did reviewing the nedry getaway pack. In that video I show what I did to the jeep to make it better.
What tape do you recommend to use when you mask it while painting?
I use tamiya masking tape as its really easy to form it round the curves of the body.
What kind of black paint did you use for the window frames?
I used a matt black spray paint and sealed it with a satin lacquer. I had to mask off everywhere on the doors that didn't want to get sprayed. It takes a little more prep time but the end rest looks nice and factory looking.
@@nathyvader29 Thanks!
Hi, I would also like to start modifying my ford, could you tell me where to get the images for the wheels?
I just found them on a Google image search while looking for the tire brand.
How did you make the plexiglass so clear I am having trouble with it
Would you still happen to have the tire decal image available?
Are you open for commissions because I d pay you to paint the exterior and interior. I do need the lights though
Sadly I don't do commissions. But happy to help with any pointers or advice
how did you get the screws in the front wheel wells? I cant fit any of my screwdrivers between the wheels and wheel well
Hi, the screws are tricky to remove in the wheel wells. I used a thin positive screwdriver and went in at an angle to the screw. Once I knew I was on the head of the screw I applied slight pressure against the wheel just enough to push it out the way to fully undo the screw. Think you should do a TRex battle damage Ford Explorer with broken windows, smashed/crunched down, mud stains and torn up blown out tires!
Very tempted to do one of those
and subscribed....
Thankyou and welcome 👍🦖🦖
Why is your video flipped?
My bad, I filmed it in the mirror dimension
@@nathyvader29 Ah I see
Any reason you didn't paint the interior pillars? The green stands out too much, considering doing this to mine, just curious. Nice work!

Just needs a Ford sticker on the front
And its worth it
Ok u need to do mine now

Oh nice. Thanks for the heads up. I'm happy with how it is. I'm not too worried about perfection. Better than a blank tyre :D
super cool
