It's possible to recruit triple gold chevron praetorian guards in this game with the right upgrades, and try to find a barbarian city with the proving grounds building which gives massive buffs to units, I was making units with 140 attack without mods
Legend, I wonder if you'd have more fun if you could start the game with all the elite troops already recruitable. Of course it'd have to be the same with the AI. It wouldn't be to take the challenge out of it but instead to get rid of the boring part of the game with shit troops. Anyway. you're my favorite youtuber and the only one I watch with any regularity. Thanks for what you do.
Legend, just out of curiosity, does the desire to reenact history ever influence how you play? Such as how Rome primarily focused on the Spanish region first, or do you prefer to do what would be the most beneficial at the time, such as what you have done so far in this campaign? Anyway good work.
I think the reason eagle cohort has more melee defence is because historically it had a symbolic function where it was the most important cohort of a legion which would defend its eagle standard at all costs.
He wouldn't have needed to go to Gaul to get them. Build the auxiliary barracks in Ancyra (Only a stone throw from Syria were he recruits his armies..) and you'll get them. Sad for the campaign that he didn't do that
Traditionally only Roman armies would be recruited in Italy but they did indeed use foreigners to bolster ranks and as scouts archers shock troops etc.
I really did NOT expect the 2nd hand Standard shot (the stone after bouncing on the ground) to cause that much damage as I thought the velocity would be too low. You were right, I should have tested it before assuming explosives would be better.
With the new update I found it incredibly difficult to convert from a Republic to an Empire since you need to have 65% influence AND positive Loyalty with all other families which is nigh impossible due to them being c*nts and is very hard to keep them happy... My campaign was so messy and went through 2 Secessions and 1 Civil War before I ended it on a Military Victory whilst still remaining a Republic :/
Is there a reason for having so much surplus food? I know you get growth bonuses but I thought that caps at 5% for 20+. I guess it means you can build what you like and ignore the food maintenance costs but is there any other benefit?
Unless they fixed them, and you know, I doubt they did; war dogs are amazing in sieges, because you blow a hole in the wall, and let the dogs go, they run in, attack everything, but nothing fights back.
i know you are way into the campaing, but if you let the loyalists with one settlement and dont completely whipe them out, you can keep your influence as high as possible, because as you said: there cant be 2 civil wars at once
Thanks for the series, enjoying it (even though scrolled in some places)! Why did you want to force the first civil war ASAP? And after successfully triggering it you decided to lessen your faction's influence? Why is that?
getting it as early as possible would be an easy civil war unlike when you conquered a lot of provinces it would be quite hard. There is also the benfits of changing to an empire or continuing the republic. He lowered his influence so that he wont ignite a 2nd civil war which has no benefits at all.
Obviously this is old so it won't affect his playthrough, but aren't Auxiliary Cretan Archers better than the Syrian ones? And I'm 90% sure you can get Auxiliary Elephant units
Only Rome and Carthage have benefits from a civil war. Once they finish it, they can chose between becoming an empire (20% less upkeep cost and -25% corruption) or a republic (2 recruitment slots and 20% discount on recruitment of troops)
Hey legend can you make a campaign with epirus at legendary mode,I know its a little hard but i find you one of the best total war player in the world, you are my idol 👍👍👍😁😁
how do you get so much food, i took those grain settlement but still dont have much as you, am i missing a tech or is it cause of difficulty, help , ty
TLS La Cause He's got like 3 grain settlements and the way it works that there is grain given to each region- so if he owns more land he'll get more grain.
Wow, I don't see this campaign lasting very long. But it seems like it will be good fun. I always find it annoying how I can never get to use my doom stacks, nice seeing them in action against something more than purposefully caused rebellions and such. Oh, I can't believe Legend assumed his own gender!11! This is CURRENT YEAR!ELEVEN!
Aftermath of legends fun the final form of legends fun activated a game of thrones style throne of skulls with many many levy free men skulls lying about
Sorry if you've already answered this but why don't you tear down the tax collector or whatever it is in Libya? I'm guessing it's because it provided bonuses which are hard for Rome to get otherwise, and that the culture penalty is negligible or non-existent, but I wouldn't mind a definite answer. Great video as always, love your work, keep on going!
wait someone explain this to me (i only played medevial 2), why exactly do you want less influence now? does it somehow start more civil wars even AFTER u go empire?
Ik im late but that political system is patched now its different to the current rome 2 but if u got at certain pct u can have the possibility of civil war. If u reach certain imperium and the influence u have exceed the cap it will possibly ignite civil wars. For this campaign 4 houses means the cap is 49 if ur at higher imperium if u exceed n reach 50 above civil war can possibly happen. The game indicates how many pct ur influence has so u can check and control it at times.
carlninja1 you don't need fast recruitment if you don't have your armies die left and right. He needs less corruption and cheaper upkeep with these large territories and elite armies
Zakanater 19 I assume he wants to become the Roman Empire, which you can choose after winning the civil war. There isn't any point in having another one after that.
Zakanater 19 once his imperium later on got high enough he'd have to cover a lot more ground and the armies would most likely be doom stacks so I think that's why he had it early on instead of just leaving it
Is that true though? i was looking it up because i was pissed it was in the game, didn't find an answer on if it will reoccur, i hope he will test it in this campaign
Daniel Mitchell If you’re playing as rome or carthage and win the civil war, you can choose to become an empire. Becoming an empire gives you -20% corruption and 25% upkeep kosts for units.
I know you hate massalia, but if ou manipulate them you can get them to help with wars, like the lusitani bugging your clients, Athens to the east and now the celtics up north
I know your greedy in the game, but giving people money as a offering to strategic factions a couple of times makes them like you, it doesent even need to be alot, and eventually, like for 5 turns give one of them 1,000 and they will like you, and eventually you can get better diplomacy.
"Did I just assume my own genda?" lol
time stamp?
1:13:14
>you can't have two civil wars at once though
Roman history: hold my beer
Strange to have as rule as roman history is riddled with civl wars.
It's possible to recruit triple gold chevron praetorian guards in this game with the right upgrades, and try to find a barbarian city with the proving grounds building which gives massive buffs to units, I was making units with 140 attack without mods
Adam Schofield and I thought medieval 2 was too easy
You smell bad

Ash TheSlayer It looks like he goes for most beneficial over historical, atleast in this campaign
I think the reason eagle cohort has more melee defence is because historically it had a symbolic function where it was the most important cohort of a legion which would defend its eagle standard at all costs.
Legend this upload rate is super good.I dont get behind and keep up really well.U should try this in your other campaings.
In Gaul you can have access to noble cav if you build the auxiliary thing. It's the best cav if i'm not wrong
for mercenary yes and for the roman faction in the regular army with the auxiliary building niv 2 or 3 i think
He wouldn't have needed to go to Gaul to get them. Build the auxiliary barracks in Ancyra (Only a stone throw from Syria were he recruits his armies..) and you'll get them. Sad for the campaign that he didn't do that

Nobody:
Rome 2 background horn guy: REEEEEEEEE
57:00 that's where the most exighting total war's gameplay begins
Great job on the campaign legend. Just absolutely smashing everyone to pieces.
Haha I loved The Hound quote :D
holy fucking shit the praetorian guard just shreds anything in seconds

I love this series
Hey Legend, Kiwi fan here - love your videos mate. Just out of interest, is there any reason you prefer Syrian archers over the Cretan archers?
Legend: "I can play this game blindfolded (vanilla of course)." Also Legend: (refuses to play Divide et Impera)
lol this will seem quite stupid in a few days
Am late but actually Rome held the bosprous for a long time even in Byzantine years
Just out of curiosity do you ever use noble cav auxiliaries or do you rate them at all?
Is there a reason for having so much surplus food? I know you get growth bonuses but I thought that caps at 5% for 20+. I guess it means you can build what you like and ignore the food maintenance costs but is there any other benefit?

Fudge I hate Rome 2. But I need a daily dose of Legend!!
Really love these for fun campaigns
There should be a way to annex vassal states or other factions peacefully without going to war. That would be an amazing feature
At 40:57 what unit do velites and leves retrain to? I thought Rome had only them as missile infantry other than auxiliary.
i know you are way into the campaing, but if you let the loyalists with one settlement and dont completely whipe them out, you can keep your influence as high as possible, because as you said: there cant be 2 civil wars at once

They're trying to incentivise Republicans to have a conscript army quickly raised during wartime rather than have a standing army.
You might want to work on black smiths, specifically the higher tier ones.
legend is actually funny asf idec
The best cav Rome can field are the campanian cav from magna graeca
I think the aux cretan archers have a slightly longer range
Yeah I miss boiling oil remember when it was a must have and a must avoid lmfao
Hey legend can you make a campaign with epirus at legendary mode,I know its a little hard but i find you one of the best total war player in the world, you are my idol 👍👍👍😁😁
In the empire edition patch they made it so there would only be 1 civil war. Idk if that has changed or not.
Well he's probably already done with the campaign. Also, don't take it personally he's a busy dude!
Couldn't you just keep the civil war going with them at 1 settlement? To prevent another, while also being able to have the bonus from high influence?
how do you get so much food, i took those grain settlement but still dont have much as you, am i missing a tech or is it cause of difficulty, help , ty
TLS La Cause He's got like 3 grain settlements and the way it works that there is grain given to each region- so if he owns more land he'll get more grain.
TLS La Cause or you might just need to upgrade the buildings
Wow, I don't see this campaign lasting very long. But it seems like it will be good fun.

Oh, I can't believe Legend assumed his own gender!11! This is CURRENT YEAR!ELEVEN!
Hey Legend what would you say is the hardest faction in you're opinion and I say you do that faction. Of course once you're done kicking ass here XD
Aftermath of legends fun
the final form of legends fun activated a game of thrones style throne of skulls with many many levy free men skulls lying about

Jake Hatton he said at the time it was because it offers very good bonuses and Rome can't build any of those type buildings
Thanks very much, thought it was along those lines but thanks for the confirmation :)
Jake Hatton No Problem dude!
waiting for the next episode already!
wait someone explain this to me (i only played medevial 2), why exactly do you want less influence now? does it somehow start more civil wars even AFTER u go empire?

@@acrylic1176 ah, i see. Sounds as annoying as the pope if not more.
shame he dont do these ones any more...
Westeebs, Westeebs everywhere
Wouldn't the recruitment capacity that comes with roman republic be pretty good?
carlninja1 you don't need fast recruitment if you don't have your armies die left and right. He needs less corruption and cheaper upkeep with these large territories and elite armies
So what was the purpose of forcing the civil war if you are only going to try and avoid another, why not avoid the first?

Did you not watch the video? -25% corruption, -20% upkeep.
legend you should look at doing a campaign of total war atilla midevil 2 mod
Buddy Williams Do you mean Medieval Wars 1078 AD?
Ujimba!
just bought this game...what is the benefit of having a civil war?
Daniel Mitchell If you’re playing as rome or carthage and win the civil war, you can choose to become an empire. Becoming an empire gives you -20% corruption and 25% upkeep kosts for units.
What mods do you use?!?
LMFAO about the entertainment comment I think this campaign is fun to watch
I know you hate massalia, but if ou manipulate them you can get them to help with wars, like the lusitani bugging your clients, Athens to the east and now the celtics up north
How th can one make thus much money help please
If you want a hard campaign play ck 2 with Asturias in 769 setting
It was a 56 to 1 kill ratio in your battle with Galatia.
Man, the fan is really loud in this one...
After watching ep. 10 of your Scipii campaign, this just doesn't compare.
Terrible Interface Design, functionally OK, but esthethically not my thing.
I know your greedy in the game, but giving people money as a offering to strategic factions a couple of times makes them like you, it doesent even need to be alot, and eventually, like for 5 turns give one of them 1,000 and they will like you, and eventually you can get better diplomacy.
Brandon Vabderbok You don't need diplomacy if everyone else is dead
I'm going to take cypress and take Syria and egypt from there
Second!
