Hugh Dennis absolutely nailing it with those two play-on-name jokes.
He's got previous. 'Henry Tudor....but why did he chew her?"
escalinci :DDDDD
Someone help me with the second one. IsLennin?
@@altostreeter Is a man, named Len, here? Is Len in?
@@simpleton7 ah, thanks. Got it now!
I've never seen Hugh so happy
I love how when Ed Gamble makes his jokes, he looks either horrified or indifferent. And then he laughs at someone else’s joke and it’s the most adorable thing ever. His smile is great, man.
I agree!! I love it when he laughs!
He’s so handsome!
I think he may be trying to avoid laughing at his own jokes, or not getting the joke out for laughing.
For me, it definitely contributes to the delivery of the joke, but not even he could resist a little grin at his own Trump joke at 3:25.
Okay.
Of course everyone knows the famous Winston Churchill quote “god damn I love these peaches”
But of course
My entries:
Not only did Churchill lead Britain through our finest hour but he also sold car insurance.
One cannot help but wonder that if the Arch Duke of Austro-Hungary hadn't been such a fan of the Kaiser Chiefs, Franz Ferdinand might not have shot him.
And Mary, Queen Of Scots, went down in history. The history teacher said that it was the only way for her to get a passing grade.
If only he could have finished the joke!
Wait woah since when does this have so many likes??
"amble in/anne boleyn" is still to this day the best pun I've ever heard
Every few months something reminds me of this and I come back to watch this clip. Just brilliantly done!
This was Hugh's finest hour.
"We shall fight them on the chickens, on the nurses, and the rain!"
Honestly, that was the best Henry VIII joke I have ever heard. Hugh, never stop being a comedic genius!!!
I love how Hugh would do his name puns, and then Glenn would immediately follow it up with a deliberately stupid joke 😂
The fact you can see that the Sigourney Weaver joke nearly breaks Hugh should tell you how good that one is.
I love how happy Glenn becomes when he realizes that he got Hugh to crack at his joke. Reminds me of Sara Pascoe's reaction years earlier, when she got in a joke that made Hugh react similarly & I don't know if I've ever seen her happier.
I think the "newer" comedians saw it as a badge of honor if they got Hugh to crack at their jokes.
Everyone had to weave their Sigourneys 😂😂
I liked this one even better than the Anne Boleyn joke 😂
i am a not native speaker, could u explain that joke?
I didn't get that one. Could somebody explain?
@@_alex_merrick_ I got that. But what does Sigourneys mean on its own? (What does she weave?)
Getting a Hugh laugh stop is a badge of honor on this show!
Gotta admit, the Winston Churchill joke took me off guard - especially the delivery.
The Frugal Videogamer it caught me off guard by how unfunny it was
^ I mean, am I really missing some reference, or did she just scream "that ass?" Because sure, delivery, but that's not actually a joke.
I love that little look of shame comedians have just after they've gone for an awful joke like that.
I thought the BBC had banned objectifying people...
I loved it!
The 18:56 delayed to 19:03, that's actually pretty impressive by Southern's standards.
He meant in years!
@@Abdullah-londonStill impressive though.
@@Meow_Zedong_1949 haha!
And I thought the Southern franchise was lost in 1981. ;)
@@bluebear1985 They got it back in 1984.
"Incensed that both Henry and Edward had become king, Thomas the Tank Engine plotted revenge!"
A very nice reference to one of my favorite childhood shows, though I'm thinking James could have also been included....
Hugh's puns were sublime, although Olga's national trust joke was hysterically funny.
This whole episode is elite. Honestly, it’s next level comedy, and bloody hilarious throughout🤣
Please fire the person who's putting emojis in the titles.
EDIT: Thanks ;)
Lol
Ann Other I’m already on them thanks. Prick.
Lol true.
🤔
@@annother3350 adam could be on every drug under the sun doesn't excuse emojis in a title, bring on the executioner
History in the mocking.
Hugh would be proud of that one
No he wouldn’t. This was shit
So lazy right now.
That Anne Boleyn gag is a classic that never gets old.
Glenn Moore is hilarious. that JFK joke and the ming dynasty had me Dead 😂😂🤣
That Sigourney Weaver one got me good! 😂
Hugh Dennis absolutely killed it
I didn't understand the Anne Boleyn joke
@@cathprudence3829
She wouldnt run
She wouldnt walk
She would simply
Amble in
You have to love the fact that both smart and stupid jokes are appreciated
That first hymen joke is so underrated
Could you explain it to those of us outside the UK?
@@kylestubbs8867 are you aware of what a hymen is?
@@Itsandy22 Ohhhhhh.... okay. I thought “My Hymen” some sort of British celebrity.
Nah, just the usual female stand up joke, all they can do 'jokes' about is their anatomy or how much they hate men.
@@markorollo. be that as it may (which I don’t think is true) if a jokes funny it’s funny
The Sigourney Weaver one killed me!
Christ I've got a History GCSE on Monday and I'm here 😧😂
Same here! I'm so nervous.
No emojis in the bbc
What was Robert Koch's contrabution to medicine?
@@somebody-xu4mz i thought that was paper 2
@@_yom_3987 Oh yeah that's not till thursday is it? In that case, when were the night of the long knives and kristalnacht?
Is that hugh recycling a trojan horse joke i see
From about 5 Series ago
Can you blame him my man's being doing this for years.
Give him a break man, he's done this for years already and being a comedian doesnt mean that you could always produce original jokes every time 😁
NDL
Well, timber IS recyclable.
Olga Koch is adorable I love that she laughs at her own jokes 😁
“Your mum” jokes never get old 😂😂
Anne Boleyn 😂 I’m dead
Glenn Moore is massively underrated
I swear Hugh has already made that Grand National joke on this show before.
He has done, yes.
He has.
Hugh's been on this show for almost 15 years and they repeat the categories, at some point he's going to start occasionally repeating jokes
That’s dave for you
Hugh is seriously underrated in the comedy world
The Sigourney Weaver joke cracks me up every time 😂
Hugh with those two play-on-name jokes, what a legend :')
hugh dennis has a good voice for history documentaries actually
He also does a perfect voice for horse racing commentary.
I want to see that Thomas episode
As the door was opened, He uttered the words that would start the Russian revolution.
"Excuse me" he said
"Is Lenin?"
That's funny for so many reasons.
🤣🤣🤣😄🤣
Not really
Well, it's a decent pun, but Ken Dodd had been using it for years..........not to say that Hugh stole it - it's something that I'm sure many people have come up with independently.
Explain?
I don't get it
@@yadusolparterre it's a Name on play joke.
Vladimir Lenin was the man who founded the Soviet Union and responsible for the Russian revolution.
Lenin = "Is Len in?"
2:17 and now, the cart has come for Old Philly himself.
And nothing of value was lost!
2:07 that killed me 😂😂🤣🤣🤣
3:24 so did that
Ming dynasty was the best one
I dont get that one
He's saying his mum is minging (disgusting)
Nah Hugh's two were belters
This must be one of the greatest scenes we’d like to see segments of all time
One of the funniest and wittiest shows ever. 😂😂😂🙏🏽👍🏼👌🏼❤️
the ming dynasty joke... that's a good one!
THAT AAAAAAAASS!!!
Hugh Dennis vs Ryan Stiles vs Colin Mochrie in a Play-on-name off
"Hi, we'll return you to Bertha the Dyslexic Ephelant in just a second."
My money's on Colin. Hugh is great, but Colin is a legend!
This episode is pure perfection.
I love how they congratulate each other.
😂 this has got to be one of the best compilations going! Some real quality original jokes, I’m crying 😂😂😂
Ming dynasty......your mum 🖕🏽 😂😂😂
Loved the Sigourney Weaver One ! Class!
2:37
The last one had me on the floor
That last one had me lmao 🤣
Hugh Dennis can make ppl laugh even at a funneral
That JFK joke 😂
I hated weaving my own sigourneys. Thank God those days are over.
That Sigourney Weaver gag is a belter
This was a particularly brilliant show 🤩
This is the only scenes clip that actually has me gasping for air.
HUGH smashed it but Glenn took the cake for me with the JFK joke
That last joke with the double bird😂
Best one yet!
The Sigourney Weaver 😆
This is one of the best MTW clips!
3:24 In the States: So do we, mate. So do we.
Oct 2021
Here's my entry "there was a fight over the last bouquet of flowers, yes it was the war of the roses"
I think that was done in a different episode.
That last joke was excellent
I totally lost it at the Sigourney one
Hugh Dennis pulled off a Milton Jones.
I love "Mock the Week". Please upload more of these! 👍👌
My favourite so far... crying!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The puns in this one were top notch
Absolutely hilarious 😂😂😂
Loved Hugh Dennis in Midsomer Murders!
Anyone else know where Ed got that shirt from. I really love the look.
Anne Boleyn XD
Spottydog714 I don’t get the play on words
@@missallsundayx As in she won't run in, she won't walk, she will only amble in :)
Olga was very well informed here!
Some belters there hahaha
''What lies here is the remains of somebodies remains''
"These two women who lived alone in a one bedroom flat with their cat, Darcy, were in fact dating"
And that is why Hugh Dennis is untouchable
BRIL! Nuff said! 🤣
Who tf is that one guy laughing his ass off 😂 lemee meet dat guy
Hugh is such a genius😭😭😭.
Is Len in?

This one was particularly funny 😄
2:09 🤣
Wow, everyone is on their best game tonight, aren’t they!?
1:43 Ed is heard laughing VERY loud yet he's clearly not laughing
Hoooooo the prince phillip one was killer XD
Sio Head Delivery was awful though
Is Len in?
That pun should get Hugh a regular place on ISIHAC!
"And now just add those lovely chopped onions to the garlic and the fennel".
When is Milton Jones going to be on this series?
He prefers to be in a comedy show...This is mock the week....
Dead men tell no tales 1914 He’s going to be on the episode after next.
@@Adam-nb6im poor guy. Must be weird being funny on that panel.
Dead men tell no tales 1914 I have a question. If you seem to hate this show, why are you so far down a comment section of an episode highlight?
Bonus question, if the person you so clearly admire likes the show enough to appear on it, are you sure you’re the one that should pass judgement on the shows comedy? I mean surely the professional comedians would know better than you right?
I reckon that this is the 'highest-density' of number & quality joke sessions ever in Mock the Week. Thoughts?
To counter all the naysayers that always wound up in these comments, I just wanted to say I really liked this one!
3:23 Keep your TV on mate, you may get it yet.
A.G.
I hate to admit that Ann Boleyn sailed past me until I thought about it. 😜
Henry V died the way he did best, shitting on the French hahaha
On that day, Abraham Lincoln died, because his wife wouldn’t record the play, for him
a 7 minute delay isn't bad for a southern train
Who says it was due at 19:03 on the same day
2:37 and 2:59 were the best ones.
