Call it “meal prepping” and no one bats an eye
Call it “leftovers” and everyone loses their minds
we live in a society
Id rather leftovers then some salad thats been prepared to eat a week earlier
Meal prepping is a scam haha just glorified leftovers
Cook once, get 3 meals - winning.
Only thing better is cooking multiple meals. My Dad loved my Sunday routine.
Well since I had a hot oven for the roast... I did some baked potatoes for midweek home fries, toasted some veggies for a midweek soup, and baked off individual zitis for travel lunches to work.
Chopping board out once, get multiple meals from 1 cooking gas and have only 1 washup.
@gronktv2434 a salad a week later is generally still good. Lmao.
people who throw away good leftovers instead of saving them SUCK

Better to just not have any leftover
That would be restaurants
Leftover steak on leftover rice with some leftover vegetables honestly sounds like a 9/10 meal
Leftover rice is terrible.
It’s only bad if you freeze it or don’t cover it properly in the fridge
@@beaujenkins9270 the only way is freezing. Covering it in the fridge will still give you stale gross rice.

@@CS-pl8fc it's not gross, besides it's actually healthier and has less calories because of some kind of resistant starch that's digested slowly or something...

Honestly, leftovers make some of the best and quickest prepared lunch meals
lowkey leftovers taste better then freshly made sometimes too
Right, some food needs to sit and let the flavours mingle. Left over chili or lasagna and lots of soups get better after being in the fridge for a half day.
i’m talkin you make some chicken parm with pasta, next morning you throw some of the leftover chicken into a sub roll with some of your leftover sauce, toast the whole sub in the oven since it’s all been cooked already and you are so in business
@giusepperossi3964 that would be a fact.
You know we had leftover Costco chicken leftovers and tested better because it was hot
Bruh cooking is the most fun part of the daym. The sizzle the smell. The changing color to golden brown. Inventing sauces and trying out different cultures base dishes. Its my therapy
I find it interesting how different people can be, because I really hate cooking. It takes way too much time and energy just to have to do it again in another hour or two.

I grew up cooking with my dad every night (when I was with him - child of divorced parents moment). We ALWAYS ate our leftovers. Either we made 3 steaks and he and I split the third for our lunches the next day (I was the kid with a lunchbox that didn't contain a Lunchable) or he'd eat whatever leftovers we had while I was at my mom's. It was a way he could feel like I was around even when I wasn't. He's never remarried, so having his only kid cook with him and being able to enjoy that food has always been a huge deal to him. It's a big part of why cooking is a love language for me. How better to show my love than to make you a delicious meal you can experience even if I'm not sitting next to you?
I love that your dad learned the lesson after one marriage. Most don't.
I love this story. Your dad made you a priority.
💞
@@riccocool yeah my dad got divorced and dated my mom for 7 years before he married her 😂. Eventually she was like “marry me or I’m leaving” and they’ve been married for nearly 40 years now. It’s definitely possible but you learn your lesson about jumping into things that (should) last forever.
Damm that’s a really dope story- thanks for sharing that
One of my favorite meals is eating cold leftover steak over the sink with a little salt, tremendous, especially with tenderloin.
I enjoy how real he is. A skilled chef who knows the struggle of the common person
He's not skilled though. There are far better ways to prep and cook steaks. Not to mention reheating thin slices of steaks is one of the worst things you could do.
Having a child has taught me to prep EVERYTHING in advance. I always have cooked rice, some protein, onions, etc in the fridge. I can throw together a meal in like five minutes. Once a week I cook down a bunch of chicken thighs in some broth, too, for my doggy. Safeway has a deal where it's 20 bucks for 4 packs of meat. Killer deal.
How many grams of meat? I mean how many grams are in a Park.
I assume 500g / 1 lb
@@xquahdthat'd work out to roughly 5$/lbs, which is worse in some american stores than the price of tenders; my thoughts are it's double the weight, going rate of 2.5$/lb. p good for protein, though still less than if you manage to find someplace selling whole chickens at 2$/lb(prices way different depending too on if in a food desert or if a well supplied port city)
Nice
@@Airborne_Phoenix I got two seasoned pork roasts each at 2 pounds, a pack of chicken thighs at almost 3 pounds, and one pound of mild Italian sausage.
If you can batch cook a bunch of food at once and then just reheat it when you're ready to eat that is so awesome. 100% recommend.
In fact sometimes when a food takes enough time to cook but it's just one meal then I will be less inclined to want to cook it.
In brazil we like to grill the whole cut, especially fat side down to render that fat. After that we cut it into strips with the grain and grill them. If you just grill the whole piece and store the strips it should make it better as the fat will be more rendered

How the hell man got a Wendy’s bowl
Ive seen people online who are convinced that anything left in the fridge for over 3 days is unsafe to eat. Blows my mind how many people think leftovers are "dirty" or something.

Im a student and cook almost every night. Not because I want to or that I hate leftovers, but usually because I have no leftovers or I eat all the leftovers for lunch. It does suck sometimes, but most of my meals are really simple so all I need to do is use my pressure cooker and oven and wait for the food to be cooked. I also make pasta every Tuesday without fail because it’s super easy and when I get back from my last class at 7:30 after 6 hours of being on campus it’s such a relief to know all I have to do is boil some water.
Idk if you like soup or not but soups are so incredibly easy in the insta pot most of them you throw the ingredients in and jus let it cook for an hour and you are done
@@manueltodd601 I love my instant pot. I have the duo crisp version so it’s the pressure cooker plus air fryer combo, but I don’t make a lot of soup, not because I don’t like it but because it requires too much thinking ahead. @@chrismarston4266 I have the duo crisp but I'm still at a loss as to what to use the duo crisp lid for. I've tried two recipes I found using it and they just came out burned. Other than that lid, I love my Instant Pot.
@@ShayniBC I will say I don’t often use that function, but my roommates have quite often. Usually they make fries, chicken nuggets, or something of the sorts. The most I use that lid for is potatoes, set the temp at 375 and cut some small bite sized cubes and cook them for like 10 minutes. They come out nice and soft in the middle with a little crisp. I have also cooked whole pieces of chicken which works quite well, 15-20 minutes at 350 and it comes out nicely.
The way I learned to not burn anything was to simply check on it every few minutes or purposefully set it to be undercooked because I can always add more time.

As a single dude, I cook every single meal because cooking is my hobby and I get to have a lot of variety and spontaneity that way. Plus my go to is burgers and those are always delicious even when you make it in 15 minutes.
Same. It's mostly just a hobby. If I feel lazy for the week, I'll make a stew of sorts. Then I just scoop out much I want and reheat that to eat.

I love this so much. As a “professional line cook” i live this way: still cooking at home but to my ways. I prep just enough to where it’s a little less work, and high reward.
I cook every meal pretty much alll the time. I have two younger kids and a wife with some dietary restrictions so everybody always wants something different lol and there’s no telling how much my youngest will eat so even when I make extra for the future, I end up having to throw some away because it’s been too long and we haven’t finished it, because nobody ate it while I was at work at night. They chose to have pizza rolls instead!!! we also have no dishwasher so cooking a lot means I never stop doing dishes either. ALL I DO IS PREP MEALS AND DO DISHES!!
I think people see leftovers as "slap it in the microwave for 3 minutes". And really, fried rice is the only thing that works well that way. You're allowed to "re-cook" your leftovers. And if that sounds like too many dishes, you're also allowed to use the tiny skillet you re-seared it in as your plate. Do what you gotta do to revive it, it'll still be easier and less wasteful than making it from scratch
Refreshing to see a REAL human being
You can even reheat steak in the microwave. They key is to not blast it with 100% power. Drop the power to 40% or so, cut the steak into even chunks, then cook in short intervals of about 30-40 seconds. Should be ready to go by the 2nd or 3rd interval.
You can reheat most things in the microwave and it taste fairly similar, steak, chicken (specifically dark meat), veggies, Lassana list can go on. Really just depends on if you have a decent microwave and actually let it reheat for long enough
@@alimbriand3261 okay you're not wrong but here's the problem. When you store cooked food, especially in the fridge, moisture moves around. Fries get wet on the outside and dry on the inside. Steak loses the texture of its sear and starts to take on a little of the flavor of fat oxidation. You can heat these foods exactly as they now are in the microwave, but exactly as they now are is significantly worse than when you cooked them. But you DO have the option to re-sear that steak or bake the moisture back into those fries.
You don’t have to butter baste a stovetop steak, you can also put more than one steak in the pan
