I swear this intro is so creepy seemed like I was about to watch a scary movie, whoever made this video I'm sorry but this wasn't necessary at all.I felt like the people in the video didn't really like there jobs and sounds really stressing and depressing.
What is with the crazy death music in the beginning? And then the scare tactics right out the gate? Seriously, guys. Phlebotomy isn't easy, it's fast paced, it can be nerve wracking, it can be crazy hours, but it's worth it. I LOVE what I do with a passion! Don't let a video like this stop you from going for this career choice of you want to! Just make damn sure you work hard for this.
Hello Kat, I'm a massage therapist. I can't pay the bills with that alone. So,I'm registering for phlebotomy class. My main concern is job availability. Massage therapy is extremely cut throat where I live. I need a stable career that I can move forward with if I choose to later on. (I thought nursing might be something for me later.) How is the job availability for you? Good? Great? Better than great? :) It's got to be better than massage! It's nice & all,but it is very hard to make it where I live. My class begins Nov 9. I'm doing this. I'm just a lil scared.
I am a phlebotomist in an outpatient clinic. I order samples and draw the blood and give it to the lab through the window. I love my job. It has been great I'm 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday.
I’ve been interested in becoming a phlebotomist and I’ve watched numerous videos and they’ve all been positive and exciting. This one, however, made me want to rethink my career decisions.
It is a great job but it requires a slight technique to find the vein correctly. However it is important to calm the patient and draw the blood well. Most Phebotomists are professional and get the veins properly. People with Adepose tissue are a challenge. Alcohol and gloves are mandatory. Most Lab Technicians understand that many Patients are scared of needles. We deal with it all the time since 2015 and 2016.
Thank you for this video I enrolled in college to a Phlebotomist. This video was very helpful in understanding what is required of a Phlebotomist. I like that you showed both the hospital and private sector. Thanks again!
I recently just finished my program and received my certificate in the mail. I enjoyed my internship at a small clinic. Didn't get to perform on any children or babies unfortunately, which kind of makes me nervous if I soon land a place to work. Overall with what I did experience was great. Didn't think the medical field was for me but now I'd like to go back to school for nursing :)
I like how you’re trained not to make people nervous when drawing blood and you shouldn’t be nervous going in, yet the intro looks like the opening of a horror movie.

Excellent video! I am in college on a career path towards becoming an RN and currently seeking to get my foot in the door through way of Phlebotomy courses. I am a bit nervous, personally I am weirdly fascinated with needles and having bloodwork never bothers me as a patient but my nervousness is concern over hurting patients and being able to do my job well enough to ensure they wont be too afraid. I guess that's all with learning the material and practice!
@@davok9805 oh, I ended up not pursuing a career in the medical field. I'm actually in manufacturing and machining now. I might pursue it one day, it depends on if that's where life takes me. Just in my last week of phlebotomy training. It is such a unique skill. I love the great JUICY veins! I am still hesitant to do difficult veins, especially the drug users.
I work in the ER, and the girl in the video said she is drawing blood during CPR.... the blood will be hemolyzed if drawn at that period. All the doctors I work with understand that the blood should be drawn after chest compressions.

Since most people here are commenting on the positive aspects of phlebotomy, I'll mention the negative things. First, phlebotomy is paid pretty poorly compared to other jobs in the healthcare field, you have no decision-making power, you're easily replaceable, and there is very little room for advancement. It's also getting harder to find a job because many hospitals are beginning to train their nurses to draw blood instead. The skill set you use is also very narrow compared to other health professions and has very little marketability outside its niche. Because of this there isn't much to learn after the first couple of months of work, and the job gets very repetitive and boring. On top of these things it's a job where no one is ever happy to see you, you have a high chance of being exposed to infectious diseases, you work on your feet all day, and it's bad for your back, knees, and circadian rhythm. In addition, from my personal experience the average education level among phlebotomists is quite low, as is the level of respect they get from professional workers, and many seem to be ignorant and dramatic people. Overall, phlebotomy is a good short-term job for people trying to get into medical, nursing, or graduate schools, but it lives up to its reputation as a stepping-stone job and these things make it a poor career choice.
Very true! I'm working as a phlebotomist while being a full-time student. I made a mistake choosing phlebotomy as I really don't like it at all. Phlebotomists are not very respected in hospital.

I'm a trained and certified phlebotomist in Jamaica and I cant get a job.
@Anieque Willie,am currently doing a phlebotomy course .am curious to know if you've been able to find a phlebotomist job as yet.
Im in Jamaica and it's hard to get a job as a phlebotomist here......I'm currently working as a teacher
That was one of my concerns going into the course ,I also dropped nursing for the same reason.
shelly b the only way it will work for you is if you're planning to go over seas
@Anieque Willie ,that's what I was saying .thanks .I'll let you know if I manage to find anything after .my training
I am looking for job now.any help
Did u find one
Only thing thay really sucks about phlebotomist jobs is being underpaid
Why did they make the intro look so creepy? I know for a fact that sticking someone does not sound like an audible squelch. -_-
what's with the intro music 🤔 😕 😆
Lmaoo why did the intro give off forensic files 😂
Hopefully they'll help cities like Albany Ga AIDS and HIV cases.
wtf! why would you make this video you can make people not like to do the job
I thought about taking the course a couple tears ago after taking a CNA training. Ha e to say, if this video is suppose to promote your curse I think you should try again....too creepy at first and then not reassuring at all.
This makes me even more scared of getting my blood pulled.
🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸
Are there male phlebotomists?
ABATHlNGAPE what do u do for work now? Just interested if u became a phlebotomists? Appreciate if u hit me back. Thanks in advance
Why does the girl in the beginning look like one of the girls from secret life of an American teenager
Okay, was the first 48 seconds of this video really necessary? Jesus, I thought I was watching some horror clip involving some poor guy being a lab rat for some twisted science experiment. Way to encourage future hopefuls into this profession.
Hellishly over dramatised but that's the States for you. Much more straightforward in the UK.
This video doesn’t represent all the us! This is a separately made video from some asshole
The intro :| woa...
This is ridiculous, I'm a medical lab tech and taking blood is the easiest part of the job 😆
Seems like they’re blowing it way out of proportion.
