    Our fur baby eats a Sheba, half morning/half evening and has 1/4C dry food in her bowl all day. She is indoor/outdoor at will and may supplement with prey. She is thin/lank and perfectly healthy. She's a petite size though and won't eat much more than that.

      It's great that you control her portions!

    My cat weighs 16 lb. I just adopted her. She is 8 yrs old. Vet put her on restrictions. Eat only 2 times a day. She has not lost any yet. 4 weeks now.

      Hang in there Ruth. If you can entice her to play more that can help. You can also ask your vet about trimming her portions back slightly.

    My cat Jasper ... I feed my cat 4 small meals a day .... I take a can of wet food and feed multiple meals through out his day ... Breakfast , lunch evening than the last small meal is a little later. That is one can of 5.5 oz break down to 1/4 cup which makes 4 meals in one day ... My cat weights 9 pounds and 8 oz. Been having my kitty since 3 1/2 months old .....he is now 1 yr old .

    When I see chonky cats, I was kinda jealous of how their owner kept them so chonky. Now I am relieved that mine are in a healthy range 😂

    I feed my cat liver chunks with a little flaked tuna on top. Surf and turf for cats. He suddenly decided he didn't like wet canned food so I had to something! He also has dry cat food on demand. He is 15years old.

    My cat needs to lose weight. I bought a slow feeder dish.

      Strict portion control, just a few times a day, works well for Bobby :)

    I watched your video and still don't know how much to fed a cat.

    • @BobbyKat
      @BobbyKat  9 месяцев назад

      If your cat doesn't look like they're a health weight as John describes in the video, they're probably eating too much. John explains in the video how to use portion control to find out much to feed them to bring them back to a healthy weight and maintain it. How much nutrition a cat needs depends on age and level of exercise as well.

    Omc, this means most cats are very overweight! Who knew.

    • @BobbyKat

      Good question. I humans want to to indulge us, but they should play with us instead.

      There's a difference between a barn cat, house cat and a pet cat. The old Purina rule of thumb is a 70 year old sketch of a barn cat. A half starved barn cat.
      My 6 year old orange tabby is a healthy 19 pounds with a magnificent primordial pouch.

      If guardians show love to their kitties and relieve their boredom with play more often, rather than so many treats, they would be fit like me!

    Dry food isn’t good for your cat.

    • @BobbyKat
      @BobbyKat  10 месяцев назад

      Our cat expert John and our vet both say dry is fine as long as they get wet food at least once a day. Bobby seems very healthy with this protocol.
