WWE Day of Reckoning is a professional wrestling video game released for the Nintendo GameCube console in 2004. The game is based on World Wrestling Entertainment and many of the wrestlers who were on the WWE roster at the time of release were included as player characters. The game also features the option to create wrestlers.

The most underrated wrestling game series. I looooved Day Of Reckoning! I still wanna get the NJPW Wrestle Kingdom games since those are on the DOR engine

Fun fact (in case you didn't know): This game and SmackDown vs. Raw, which were obviously released in the same year, both use the exact same soundtrack.

@JamesForever Every console at the time were somewhat competing with each other so they had their own series. It was obvious though that PS2's SmackDown series which eventually lead to SvR was 👑
I still remember seeing the ads on smackdown for this game and thinking "Man, I got to get this". Had some fun with it back in the day for sure, especially playing with friends.
The story mode was my favorite part of this game.
I sold my gamecube around 8 years ago. Recently I've been listening to the soundtrack at work. I had to buy the gamecube again. Lol. I got This game and the sequel as well. I just had too. Too much memories I spend mid to late 2000. Amazing game. Heck, I was just customizing my character half an hour ago.

This was a good game, but suffered from the game being released at a time that caused bad timing. JBL was not in the game because during development he was still Bradshaw in the APA with Ron Simmons, but when the game released, he was JBL and was the WWE Champion. Very weird to not have one of the two world champions in the game. Also not having the Dudley Boyz despite being in a big feud with The Undertaker at the time.
Nobody cared that much about that people still loved the game
I never went past the intial two GameCube wrestling games. I didn't even know these games existed. Since the ps2 games were so good.
Fun Fact: The arena that used for Smackdown! in this game is the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City New Jersey.

What i liked the most was that the titontron animation in the back continued to play which was ahead of its time and something the THQ well 2K games just started doing!

Good God, I had so much fun back in this day with this game. So much.
My cousin owned this game on his GameCube when we were preteens, and it was great. The graphics l, the gameplay, the story mode were great. But I you are right about this game missing a few things like a backstage brawl, voice overs, commentary, and a few superstars. It would've made the better. But it doesn't stop it from being a great wrestling game. Great review dude.

This game was pretty awesome this and the smackdowns after had great music on there it let you customize your entrance it was fast paced and let you interfere during any moment which just made it fun to play i might be thinking of DOR2 though
I had a PS2 so i grew uo with smackdown vs raw series but i was always jealous of GameCube owners..i always wanted to play it.
This game should've had maven dudley boyz, jbl, billy Kidman, William regal, rikishi, the hurricane, a train, and steven richards. Still a good roster, but my god this and smackdown vs raw (the original which I hope u review soon) had such disappointing rosters compared to previous years.
AcePlays Totally agree. We went from such a stacked roster to this... It was a tough time for the company talent wise.
Dudley's couldn't have been in developmental. EVERY reviewer says the roster is meh cause it's missing big stars from the time and always mentions people like the dudley boyz, jbl,billy Kidman, Orlando Jordan, Paul London. I feel those guys should've been in as well the guys I listed above. Maybe cause of the dramatic graphics and story leap there wasn't enough time. Day of reckoning 2 did have a much stronger roster I feel cause it had a lot more mid carders rather than guys we see in every game.
All of those wrestlers were easily made in CAW mode,and their move and entrance templates were pre loaded if you knew what to look for.

God the sound track was fucking beast. It was my first exposure to breaking benjamin. Thanks wwe :) but i hated in match music so much. Broke the feel of an actual match for me.
The only reason anyone got this, they didn't have a PS2 or Xbox, this was just SVR for Nitindo
I like the story mode but I have different vision for the Smackdown! story mode, instead of focusing on The New Ministry it would focus on a more original stable called: The Lesnar Circle which will consist of Brock Lesnar, JBL, Big Show & Chris Benoit and instead of Kurt Angle, Paul Heyman will be the General Manager of Smackdown! & Eddie Guerrero's group will consist of him, Rey Mysterio, Kurt Angle & Charlie Haas.

Thanks to your videos I went out and bought both DOR 1 and 2. Ive only played the first one so far, and my only complaints are that the roster is kinda skim and the AI does waaay too many reversals (like over half of my moves are reversed, and Im playing it on the easy setting), but other than that the game is great : p I had a Gamecube but I missed pretty much all of the wrestling games of this era, and am just now playing them : p So far I like DOR more than the 2 Smackdown vs Raw titles I have played on PS2. I plan on eventually getting the two Wrestlemania titles when I can : p

I've played almost every WWE game that there is to play, and WWE Day of Reckoning stands high on the peak of the mountain in my opinion. I have never had more fun in a wrestling game than I have in this one. It has a great pace in game that isn't too unbearably fast but offers just about non stop action. Fast gameplay is important in my opinion. No matter how realistic the later games are, they aren't as fun as the older ones. Not only did Day of Reckoning have a great pace, but it was just fun. I like to compare it to Super Smash Brother Melee, except they're not Nintendo characters, but instead WWE wrestlers. I also like the fact that if a wrestler is in the crossfire of another move, they get hit too. Any move can be interrupted, but this feature could go anyone's way as you could knock opponent A down by throwing opponent B into him. That made things a lot more interesting in my opinion. The create mode was excellent, as was the create an entrance, and the season was a lot of fun. If this game had a better roster and title matches, I'd call it a perfect 10. Sadly, it's only getting a 9.9 from me.
Was a good game & I enjoyed the Story Mode. But I felt like they should've had a better roster and alt attires like you mentioned.

There's 2 major flaws with this game and they're not the game's fault. 1) the roster at the time was indeed lacking 2) it was on the GameCube. There's nothing wrong with the gamecube, except should have never played mini DVDs. For as cool and unique they were, they had less capacity than single layer DVDs. But just imagine this on the xbox and not WrestleMania 21

My favorite "PS2 era" (6th generation?) wrestling game.
Even over SvR 2006.
I still remember the reason I bought it (other than it being a THQ WWF game on the GC)... because after 2 or 3 games, the "Deadman" Undertaker was finally back!
Not a fan of "American Bad-Ass" Undertaker.
Also, this game has the best create a wrestler/create an entrance modes ever!
And it had good music

This was a fantastic game! The only issue I had was that I could not beat the final match in story mode. Hit HHH with over 20 finishers and he just would not stay down for the 3 count. I probably chose the wrong stats to increase during career mode, which is a flaw if the game won't give me a chance to complete it.
Try to get a count out win it worked for me
+The Hitman Coz lol I always try count out wins in road to wrestlemania if I have to win in a certain amount of time

The graphics and season modes are the only bright spots of that turd. Also he long since covered that game.
