@ I’m still on the T2 right now and would love to give a T5 a shot, but I have other things to spend (waste) money on haha, the joys of liking both DJ culture and photography. They needed to do these updates for sure, I’m guessing the time wasted putting it back to what it was has impacted pushing it forward for a while, which is a shame.
it looks pretty good. The problem I've had with fuji AF is tracking a moving subject in photo mode and false positives. I'm sure there will be many tests posted to RUclips shortly. Hopefully they get it right!
Initial impressions is that it's improved, not perfect. Still pretty far from Sony, but a step in the right direction. I've been using it well within it's limits and not pushing it at all. For that, I'll just grab one of the Sony's.
Are you trying to add the firmware via an SD card or via the Xapp? The app is probably the better as you don’t have to jump through hoops to get it onto the camera. Make sure the app is up to date first. 🏴 You shouldn’t get a file corruption with the app.
I haven't run into any issues. I just downloaded it to my SD card and updated it on the camera itself. Did the same with my X100VI and it worked great. Have you tried formatting the SD card? Sorry I can't be more helpful.
Have you tried it in AF-C and shooting stills with eye (or animal eye) detect? I'm very interested to know if the hit rate (i.e eye in focus) has improved over the previous firmware.
I've been out twice in London with the new X-T5 firmware, just taking pics of cyclists, moving cars, crowds etc to test its AF-C autofocus accuracy. With the Fuji 33mm f1.4 lens. Both times in overcast daylight. I must say it seems very good! Quite sticky, even. My settings include 'focus priority', AF-MF switched off (only because a couple of people online, probably wrongly, claim is switches focus priority back to shutter priority), and the 'cheetah' tracking setting in the custom autofocus menu.
It does indeed feel a bit snappier and stickier. I was just walking around my neighborhood in a snow storm and it was performing quite well. I use my Fuji's almost exclusively for stills and shoot in AF-S most of the time, so the AF hunting hasn't been much of an issue for me. Knowing that I can flip it over to video if decide to do so, opens up other possibilities. Thx for adding to the discussion!
AF + MF indeed forces release priority, regardless of what you set there. I can't say much about AF for stills, but for video it is pretty bad so far with any kind of movement.
@@jaegerschtulmann other than portraits where people are still, its still a case of zone or single point AFC. My Fuji gear is getting sold in the New Year. It’s not acceptable anymore that they can’t get to their competitors standards.
I too may be jumping ship early next year… love my X100VI & X-T5 but I had to get my X100VI repaired after owning it a few months and they replaced major parts, so much so that it registered as a new camera in the Xapp… and I love the image quality of the Fuji’s! 🏴
It‘s obviously difficult to accept improvement which may be sufficient for many people, but not on the level of the market leader. Good for the majority of users.
All cameras have their strengths and weakness, I tried Sony but disliked the menu experience. I enjoy my Fujifilm XT 5 and the autofocus if fine for my needs.
As a wedding photographer the focus on fujis is not at all a problem. I'm happy to be shooting a camera that I enjoy. I've gotten to use my friends sony and it just doesn't hit the same
It's not as good as Sony, nor do I claim it to be. But it is quite a bit better that before so that's a welcome improvement. I have lots of Sony gear as well that I use for different purposes - I enjoy them all!!
Thank you for review the update firmware.
Good to see you giving the system another chance.
For sure! I really missed the tactile controls for photography. Happy to see them making some improvements to the AF as well.

It is definitely better than before

Hello
this morning trying to update fuji xt-5 update
Got Error 'firmware file is corrupted' ???

@@macjim thanks for the reply
no, just standard old skul pc to SDcard transfer :)

I haven't tried AF-C yet so I can't comment. Hopefully someone else can chime in and share their experience.

Its better but is way off Sony AF, why can’t Fuji compete?
Likely patents and incompetence. They are too conservative

@@willgreig8912 yeah same here I am done with Fuji. And if I ever need to shoot medium format I will go Hasselblad

Ils n'ont pas recrutés les bons ingénieurs
People worry about absolutely anything these days. The old photographers just took quality photos, with manual focus.
If we wanted manual focus, we would've bought an actual film camera and not 2000$ on a camera that can't even autofocus
you call this a test? do real situations outside
still not as good as sony

I don't think Fuji aims to be like Sony or even better than Sony. If you favor Sony AF then go with that.
