27 Minutes. The west via the Main South then Cootamundra - Parkes is a way to avoid the steepest grades of the Blue Mountains, be it a somewhat greater distance.
Thanks for the ride! The NR's are pretty quiet in the cab! Coota west is fenced off now, what a shame a great building like that is not being used! Cheers Gregg.
This video made me read up on the "staff and ticket" system! A voice-over explanation of that system on a version of this video might be interesting to some people. I learned something today!
+Ryan North The main challenges for driving especially a large train like this is keeping the train speed under control and stopping it accurately at the right place. These skills build up with practice. Otherwise there is not much to worry about. It is very much easier than driving a tram for the simple reasons that nothing is suddenly going to get in your way including pedestrians, other road vehicles, and suddenly changing traffic lights. For an example of train speed control, see my recent video on Cab Ride Electric Coal Train. I'm pleased that you enjoy my videos. It's fortunate that I took those old ones when few people had video cameras and long before RUclips was even thought of.
The Bops Being freight, speed was not as important as it would be for a passenger service. I don’t think the line was up to scratch for going much faster. Maybe the inland rail project will spruce it up a bit.
