@@harvey1954 I met The LB in may 1966 before Rene hit the charts. They asked me to join the band but I declined. We became good friends and jammed a lot back then. Yes it was a lot of work recording with my old friends, but to bad it didn't pan out at the time. I wrote and recorded a few songs with Steve Martin Caro after the last LB album and George Cameron plays drum on. Some songs on my RUclips Channel and a album on I-Tunes. Charly Cazalet-Rough Mix NYC.
Both, and some musicians perfected their songs for months and years back then as well. I don't know exactly how long Brian Wilson used on "Good Vibrations", but it took months. However you don't necessarily need a lot of money and studio - time to do so these days. I'm impressed that this song was done in only one session. To my ears it sounds great the way it is.
The Left Banke sounded great last night at the Howard Theater in Washington. If the band enjoys their music and wants to keep touring, I say charge ahead, gents! The only suggestion I'd make is to have the advance people get the advertizing word out better...a LOT more people should have been there last night!
i have this album. suddenly I am hearing this with new ears..terrific.the vocals are outstanding, with a lusher production this song would have fit right in on "too".
In all seriousness, this is a great song. The Left Banke came in same time as the British Invasion of the 60s and their sound was more akin to that influence than what was going on in america at the time. This song proves that point..very Beatles influenced vocals and guitar wise.
Hi Tom. Do you think you could post a video of the BB King performance? I currently live in Bermuda and would like to see!! Also, I should say that I bought Voices Calling when it first came out and it's always been one of my all-time favorite albums!! I especially liked "Lorraine" and "And One Day"! Oh! Did you write the string parts for "And One Day"?
This is great the way it is, but if you had more time in the studio to work on the album it might've been even better. It must have been very frustrating.
Esteban Caro (Steve Martin) was, in my mind, one of the most under-appreciated male rock voices in America.
Without question!!!
I remember the good time we had recording this song. I played Bass on this song.
Must have been exciting to record with what is now such a legendary band.

wow a super nice band
The Left Banke deserved to be SUPERSTARS. This song, like many of their others, is incredibly beautiful.
Agreed!
Like Big Star and Badfinger... Pure pop genius songwriting that few got. Brilliant! Thank you for this!
Yes, like Big Star and Raspberries.
Agreed
What a great song. Sounds like the Beatles but I know it is the Left Banke. Something to truly be proud of.
Wow! This is incredible. I wasn’t aware there was a third album.
Minus Michael Brown which is like the Beach Boys without Brian Wilson.

It still is a great album!

Blowing my mind - I had no idea they made a 70s album!
I love this song. Another gem by a great band that has no equal. Amazing just so ahead of their time.
Awesome! Tyx for sharing 👍❤️🔥🇺🇸🥵

An extraordinary song - a gleaming gem among gems!!!
Great stuff, timeless.
it's cool to hear it I like it too keep up the music the left banke
It's a shame this did not get released in 78 when recorded and that these guys did not get the props they should have.

Cool! Wish I could be there to witness it!

Makes me think of Badfinger even more.
EXCELLENT !
Brilliant:))
If the Beatles had been still going at it in the late 1970s, quite possibly this is what they would have sounded like.
Love LB 2
That's great news Tom!
I would really like to hear it
Has a bit of a Moody Blues touch.
I Love this song!!! Why is Michael Brown's head the thumbnail for this video? It should be Tom Finn's Cute Face~ Thanks...
I've been a big LB fan since day 1. I never heard this song before. I think it's great. Is there somewhere I can buy it?
its great- and if you dont encourage its faults and talk about them people wouldnt notice them at all- actually like the lofi feel and roughness- !!

You can go to The Left Banke homepage and download it for free.
What happens?

He scored Robin Hood, among other things
What is MrGoldenthroat alluding to?
Sounds like Klaatu
1 thumb down - this individual is devoid of culture and refinement! The only culture he gets is in his yogurt!!
