This song still gets to me and I’m almost 69. This is a timeless classic which many kids never experienced. I’m glad these kids were exposed to this classic.
It brings tears to my eyes to see kids enjoying the timeless classic by the amazing Left Banke. As a witness to the Left Banke's reunion last March at Joe's Pub, I can attest to their chilling beauty and the time warp I experienced and always do when one of their amazing tunes grace my ears. Thank you for posting this... Rob
Thank you mdnathan and notlameguy. It is heartwarming to read your comments. We have all felt that the Left Banke both were, and still are a one of a kind music entity. As their producer I can tell you that we are planning much more of the same. Not only cds, but videos as well. I feel there is no limit to what they can accomplish and in the next year, we will make every effort to make wonderful new music. With your help, "THE BANKE IS BACK". Thanks so much for all the fans continued support.
@@jeromeschiller498 This is Mike Fornatale, the current lead singer for the last 10 years or so. The original singer was Michael Brown who passed away 2015, but he had not been with the group for decades.
The original lead singer is not Michael Brown, the genius piano player/harpsichordist. The original is Steve Martin-Caro, the tremendously gifted singer with the perfect voice of an angel who most sadly & unfortunately passed away 1-14-20.
I have long said this is perphas (tied with God Only Knows) the greatest song in the history of pop music. Never thought I would quote the late, not-so-great Andrea True, but... MORE, MORE, MORE!!!!
But it makes you feel so old we enjoyed that time it's good to see people listen to our time that we enjoyed and they don't have it and that's what makes me sad
Maybe they are, in a way. Michael Stipe has cited Steve Martin Caro as an influence. Stipe is a sincere, emotive singer, and it's great to know who, in his view, is worth consideration and respect.
Cameron and Finn singing without mics, and Finn's guitar is not plugged into anything. Cameron didn't even pretend to play anything. That said, that was about the closest we could come to having a real Left Banke.
Great song but the recording could have been better. Close-mic everything unless you want to record the entire room! I hope The Left Bank are still playing those lovely compositions.
Do you all live there together ? like a commune of sorts? Somewhere on the planet? yes several of us live together 1v no 2v some of us live together but in different places 3v none of these 4v I am shocked...I am so bleepin hated when all I did is find these articles that are out there for anyone and everyone to find...I cannot believe this and I want to cry....
@@MoparDen I think you're correct. Still, this singer does a good job of singing this gorgeous tune like Martin. Given the ravages of age, I doubt if Caro could sing it this well now.
@@MoparDen I think the acoustic guitar player on the right is an original. His name escapes me. They were one of the best groups of that era, and even out-Beatled the Beatles in certain ways. But they were short-lived as a group.

Mike Fornatale's lead vocal is absolutely superb.

Can't walk away from this.
Is the lead vocal the same person who sung the original song for the Left Bankke?

Just Like "Desiree" an unbelievable combination of historic pop/baroque music with the fabulous NYU choir. Incredible job Ralph and thanks for sharing

Singing it here folks - July 5th 2022 3:23 pm on a Wednesday.

Finn could have plugged into his left ear or other anatomical places and sounded just as good 👍 👌 😀 😉
@@brianm.armstrong70 Sound as good as not being heard at all? Agreed.
I’ve played high ceiling cathedrals many times- you don’t need a mic.

Sorry---posted under my husband's name---this is still amazing! The sound, and "feel" is just incredible. :):) You sound fantastic, Mike. :)
@TheAlistairDick But they sound like angels from heaven.
Is that Steve Martin Caro singing lead?
sure looks like him to me!

What are their names from left to right

It's Mike Fornatale.
Too bad the writer of this song and band keyboardist, Michael Brown, wasn't there to join them.
