A year has passed. After a series of stormy quarrels and reconciliations, Sandra breaks up with Kostya Suvorin. James finds out about this and tries to get his ex-wife back - he is still in love with her. James invites Sandra to head the Russian branch of the Corporation.
Sandra meets famous geologist Ilya Kovalev. Ilya begins to court Sandra. But a disagreement occurs between them - Sandra mistakenly decides that Ilya is married. Sandra throws herself into her work, preparing for the upcoming tender in Narong.
Imagine her surprise when she meets Ilya in Narong! It turns out that Ilya is now working for James Harper’s competitor in the tender, Assad Navrulla, and is searching for a rich oil field.
Assad Navrullah decides to eliminate a strong rival - Harper - from the competition. Taking advantage of James's crush on Sandra, he sets up a false date, where Harper catches his beloved in the arms of Ilya Kovalev. In desperation, James runs away from the hotel and drinks himself into unconsciousness at a nearby bar. In the morning he wakes up in a cheap motel. A dead prostitute lies next to him, and drugs are scattered on the table. The police arrive and arrest James. He is accused of murder, as well as possession and use of drugs. In Narong, the punishment for this is death.
The only person who doesn't believe James is guilty is Sandra. She begins her own investigation, in which Ilya helps her...
