Listen you just made my day! My hair started dreading about a year ago and I just was like cool, I’ll see what it does. Now I’m in love but I’ve never gone anywhere to get them done and trying to stay as natural as possible. You even gave the tip about essential oils. Sis, thank you! Subscribed!
Just started my loc journey this month can't wait to see myself in 6 months to a year. I have someone taking care of my hair but it's good to know this as well, thank you.😊
Hey I love what.you said about not needed to rely on someone else to do our hair. I want to learn to do my own and so far not too bad. Im only 4 months in. This video will help me be even better Thank you!!
I really like your journey, you are true to yourself, not like everyone else, not a full covergirl. Your are cool. That flat twist then palm rolling made a lot of since to me thanks.
LoccyMeesh thx, let me know how it works when you try it. I originally started using them because it was cheaper to get fewer clips that help more locs than the smaller clips and it ended up working out.
Good tip on flat twisting up the front locs and then palm rolling down the rest of the loc. My front roots always look fuzzy and the parts are more rectangular than square. This may be the best way to work them when retwisting... Will giv it a try next wash/retwist. Thanks!
Dragons trail means you had a loc thinning and twisted two together to keep it from falling out and eventually it grows together but only at the root, you can always split it if two accidentally grow together
Omg yes. I am a firm believer in that saying that goes, “give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime”. I learned that at the young age and from then on I knew that in order to survive I had to make sure I didn’t depend on others. How did I just get that deep from a hair video, 🤷🏾♀️. Thanks for watching 🥰
U can have any texture and have ur hair loc up. It can be straight. U just don't wet it and let it Matt up for a month. Keep ur scalp clean and moisturized, too
Thank you very much for the tutorial I am a new lock girl probably about 8 months in and what I am wanting to know is how often do you recommend retwisting? And your hair looks good
I would say every 4 weeks is a good start but see how your hair takes that. If it’s getting too thin at the roots you may need to go 5 weeks. But the main thing is that you don’t want to over re twist because your Locs will thin out
I say yes and no. Combing it helps to push the matted hair up against the already Loc’d hair so that I can twist what wasn’t matted or fully loc’d. This creates a “cleaner” retwist. But simple just not twisting at all and just separating the hair at the root (like a semi free form) would probably be the fastest way to get you hair to loc.
Hey how long have you been loc'd? I ask because I feel like I can see some curl/coiled ends. Being that my hair is very curly, I wonder if I will still have my curly ends far into my journey
Does the jam cause build up? I have several bottles from when I was natural. I decided to go with aloe vera gel because I was nervous to use jam but I may try it next time if you suggest it.
I'm definitely gonna start using a comb when I retweet my hair, I've never did that or even cared for that but it does look cleaner. I have a couple of dreads where they broke, can I replace with yarn to strengthen or shouldn't I?
Idk how old you are but by your voice you sound like your 25 ish.... but I swear you look like your 16 years old... like if you were in a group with some teens around you would blend right in!!!!🤗😌
dreadd____headd thx for watching. Are you asking can u change the direction that you twist your locs like at first you went clock wise now you want to go counterclock wise?
dreadd____headd i twist mine in all different directions depending on where im at because i want to iy to look really tight in the front but as far as the partings and the way my hair falls that all depends on how to started the locks. now u can combine locs and ur hair may fall differently but as far as the parts that all comes from how the were started. hope this helped. but hey its YOUR lock journey so enjoy ur locs for what they are and focus on keeping them clean and healthy
If you were to use wax how would you remove the product
5 лет назад
tashafamous1 you actually can’t... when I first started my locs everyone told me to use a Jamaican lime was to loc them but for the past three years I’ve had problems with build up and it can’t be removed only covered up with dye...
@stayforevertrue My dreads are in braids, but its like when I twist my hair, it doesnt stay. I'm trying to learn how to do dreadlocks on my own as a guy. Normally someone else does my hair, but I would like to learn on my own.
@@forevertrue06 I do have 4 clips. My dreads have in braids since it got re-did back in February & need a re-do. My scalp is dry & I'm afraid to take loose my dreads/braids because I might mess up & not know what to do next. I looked at 5 tutorials today & came across yours. My name is Ken. Im learning about what "palm rollling" means.
_1990_babyface yes you definitely need to take your hair down and get that scalp clean, massaged and oiled. Get more clips. And I believe I showed how to palm roll in this vid but if not there are a ton of vids on it. But start with cleaning your hair. You can do this, washing your hair actually helps it to loc up better because it tangles the hair. But make sure you separate each loc after you wash it so they don’t get matted together. Sorry it’s kind of hard to explain in text especially since i don’t know how your hair looks.
@@forevertrue06 Thanks its been like a week since I washed while it was still in braids, but I'm African American. Ive had braids since 2003 at 13 & wasn't allowed to have dreads as a teenager. I had my hair in twists before at 19. Then last year at 29, I wanted dreads & my aunt started twisting my hair into dreads/braids. My hair is damaged from hot comb alopecia throughout my teens & early 20s. To make a long story short, I was thinking about a new style for my dreads as well & hoping my hair will still holdup. I am taking a lot of notes from this video. My hair has locked up & kinda matted.
Maybe put conditioner on your hair because washing them while they are still in braids can cause them to kind of matte or get stuck together, if that happens the conditioner can help to loosen them up without causing too much damage. Let me know how things go. Scalp massages are really good too and I’ve used castor oil on my scalp throughout the years to help with thinning.
That’s I’m glad my girlfriend own a shop. Your locs beautiful I’m a year 4 months and I’m like why my hair not that long 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Found out they don’t grow like your natural hair Form
Rendy Wyatt hi great question. It brings all the litttle hairs into the loc .Also it "straightens' the untwisted hair, which makes for a more neat apperance.
I ran to the store ingot some locking gel.. took me a min to figure out which way to twist it but I'm just getting done.. took about a hour and a half.. kinda drying it now! We'll see how it turns out but however it turns out I'm sure its better than it was a two hours ago!
I swear every queen that gets locs literally looks 10x better than the competition.
Yes!!✊🔥
There's no competition
Your so pretty and explanatory...Im 12 and trying to learn to do them myself to save my mom the trouble👍
Hi, that's why I learned to do my own hair at a young age. My single mom couldn't afford for me to get it done and she didn't know how to do hair.
Me too
I’m 13 and me and my mom are about to start a loc journey
May God bless u for thinking about your mom. Priceless
And you’re also pretty! How sweet and admirable for u to be so considerate of your mom. You will be blessed for that!💝

Best video showing how to Palm roll! Thank you for the clear information
Thanks, I’m glad you found the vid helpful
You do a really good job of explaining your process. I appreciate that. The music was also a good selection. Keep making videos.
I love how calming the music was
you make this look easy! it take me hours and my locs arent even as long
I’m sure this is harder with shorter locs
Dragons trail means you had a loc thinning and twisted two together to keep it from falling out and eventually it grows together but only at the root, you can always split it if two accidentally grow together
Your natural hair texture is beautiful 🤗 Thanks for the video! Very informative 😉
I definitely agreed when u said u don’t have to depend on a stylist that’s what I told my grams I gotta learn to do it on my own💙☹️

So, are some of your locs twisted in opposite directions? It looks like some were clockwise and some counter-clockwise.
she looks 16 but sound like, she 32. But good info
She locks like she's 52 so ..
Catherine Estrada She does not look like some 52 what the hell is wrong with you

So a dragons tail is 2 locs joined together, but what would you call three locks possibly even four locks join together?
How many dreads do you have

Genuinely curious. Does combing hair during retwisting prevent it from locing quickly?

I wouldn’t suggest it. I was just trying something new. Aloe Vera or just plain water is the best

Will using Jam cause build-up?
It can, I really only used it like twice and went back to just using water. Sometimes you have to just go for the health of your Locs versus the look
Thank you, really helped out a lot💯

How long do you have to keep the clips in?
Ariel until your hair dries. so stay under a dryer or i keep them in overnight
stayforevertrue ok thanks
Wow you have a lot of locs, Looks like at least 100! Im thinking I dont want more than 50 lol.
I know! I'm doing a loc count vid soon. And depending on the thickness of your hair you can do about 50 locs. they just might be bigger

Yea, I like thick locs on thinner hair. When are you going to start them?
