youtube's 2x has felt slow for a while thanks man!
At first 1.7x was fast but Follow able now 2.7 is easy to follow. Might be like getting used to a regional accent. So more at 2x watched will mean it is time to move on to 2.5x. And so on.
@@dennisgarber As I'm mostly downloading videos and watching them at work. (far of from internet connection) I play them with MX Player at 2.25x-2.75x-3.5x-4x. Normal speed is just not okay with me
@@MachineStalkerWolfie I installed MX player for android. I don't see how to do youtu.be yet. I got something to play, but no speedup.
@@dennisgarber For RUclips on android there is no more than 2x speed on official app. In MX Player there is option : 3 dots>playing/play (don't know specific cause I use it in polish but it is first option)>speed. After 3.5x speed sometimes it gets desynchro'ed
@@MachineStalkerWolfie I still do not get how you download RUclips videos. MX Player does not seem to want to play RUclips. Maybe I don't have the same MX Player?

This is fantastic. I actually struggle with ADD, and sometimes I want to focus on something, but I just CANT. Speeding it up is a huge help with that.
Same I also suffer with ADD and 2x feels so slow now, so I can't focus
me too! especially when I've seen the content (or something similar) before, I want to consume it twice as fast as I had before... which, in most cases, was at 2x speed...
Does speeding up videos counteract ADD that effectively?
@@warrenhammer7262 I actually use it a lot when I am working through recorded college lectures. It can make the difference between finishing a lecture or not.

Thank you so much, I listen to podcasts at about 3.5 speed, both to be able to listen to more and to practice getting better at transcription, but was always disappointed I couldn't listen to videos at that speed as well. This will help me get up to 4 times the speed.

@@VeryOriginal 23 thumbs up. 2x is too slow for most youtube speakers. I have found 2.3 to 2.7 better than 2x. 2.6 is more what I have been using lately. Skipping silence, IS also a necessity. Lots of time wasted in the pauses.

totally just found out today RUclips has keyboard shortcuts, including shortcuts to speed-up and slow-down the video. To see all keyboard shortcuts just watch your video and hit Shift+?

slow down: Shift+<
others exist, like literally just typing f (hit 'f' on your keyboard) to toggle full-screen on/off

Re: security issues, you can go to chrome://extensions/ and limit the access of the "video speed controller" Chrome extension to just key websites like youtube.com and thus vastly minimize the security concerns.

one of my friends introduced me to speeding videos, I started off at 1.4x and I now watch at 2.4x! I don't go past 2.5 because most videos get extremely fast, but I'm used to watching in 2.4 now.
I'm trying to limit my entertainment intake so automatically, whenever I play an entertainment video I want to speed it up - this allows me to get bored of entertainment faster and most of the time, I end up getting bored earlier and doing something else that is much more productive sooner.

I was already at 2x speed and wanted to try more :-) I installed it onto Opera using the Install Chrome extension to opera. Thank you for this information. One question I have the feeling watching videos at 2x i start talking faster. Do you also see that for yourself ?

Hi. Unrelated question about filming. I see that some youtube videos when people are talking the camera zooms in a little bit in their face then zooms out to it's original position after explaining whatever there were talking about. Do you know how that is done? You did it around minute 1:40 or so
It's usually just zoomed in or made bigger in the editing software. While there can be some quality loss (depending on your camera and editing setup) if you stick to zooming in to a maximum of 15-20% the quality loss will me minimal 😉
I can't tell you how much this has helped my guitar playing. I'm able to slow down guitar parts to figure them out which reminds me of the old days when I would slow down a 33 record to 16 to get half speed (ish).
