Mirage has some of the best performing and sexiest looking AC parts. Everyone who understands the lore hates them, but I'll give them credit where it's due.
Easily the best AC manufacturer in the series. The only great part they lacked was OPI That was probably why they bought AI controlled OPI from the AIO in AC3, that and having ACs completely loyal to you was too good to pass up.
I rooted for Mirage during the beginning of AC3, when Crest seemed like a domineering force. As the games progressed, I think my attitude shifted toward Crest, then toward them both being scumbags. They've both betrayed their supporters - Union vs. Navis. I'd say Crest was the better fleshed out corporation, cooperating with Navis (initially), selling MTs to them, going independent of the Ravens Ark (Genobee/Agraya/Evangel?). Mirage seemed like a believable corporation with its trajectory - starting at #2, then aggressively expanding into a new territory to gain power (similar to Zio on Mars), then being a giant douche to everyone. AC 3 was probably their weakest showing; what I remember suggested they were an underhanded wannabe Crest, with the exact same goals in mind, and little meaningful distinction between the two. I think Nexus was the strongest showing - they bullied OAE into doing their bidding, and were brazen enough to fly transports over their enemies' headquarters as a show of force. Crest and Mirage didn't really feel like fundamentally corporations, basically two groups playing the same game. Compare that with GA vs. Omer, and Aspina in AC4/4A. They had different feels to them, with Omer being the universally bad guys, and GA spending most of Armored Core: 4 Answer defying Omer's control, going so far as to resurrect BFF to create an alliance against Omer. The Mirage vs. Crest dichotomy seemed mostly in their tech. Kisiragi had a unique position, where they were trying to expand as best they could under the yoke of the other 2 powers, exploring radical technologies to compete with the big 2, and ultimately abandoning Navis in a bid for continued survival. Compare that with Mirage vs. Crest. Investigate Ruglen Lab, explore the Magna Ruins, Stop the Train; I think for most 'Crest vs. Mirage' missions, it'd feel the same if you swapped corporations. Would it have made much difference if Crest paid you to take over the orbital satellite instead of Mirage? I don't think so. But I think that similarity was intentional, similar to Chrome vs. Murakumo. If you take out Chrome in AC1, another corporation rises to challenge Murakumo, which is what I think would have happened in the AC3 universe.
You pretty much said it here Toshinben, the difference really is only a name, all corporations really just wanted to expand and one day very much like the corporations in 4th gen wanted to be away from ravens and rule it all. No matter the name its about how to expand while still holding on to what you got, no matter where they sat in the time line and there will always be another ready to take over, to have a chance of being that all powerful ruler of the world.
After playing almost all of third gen recently yeah I was really supporting mirage originally since they seemed to be against the controller and wanting change but it was all a lie. However kisiragi were alot worse they paid you to blow up a bridge mirage built to help people and to also kill civilians in a monorail in three after that they kind of calmed down mostly since silent line they are almost wiped out also nexas implies they might of made the strange bugs and spiders in three
@@afriendofjamis The one that hurt me the most was Strung's betrayal in AC2. Seeing the raven who mentored you in the tutorial mission turning against you was a shattering experience, but also a reafirmation of your progress as a Raven once you defeat him.
Sorry for the wall of text, but this got me thinking. Remember Matthias, the misterious raven that appears at the bottom of the arena once you beat Strung? Well, it is stated that he wants to avenge his deceased mentor, who is speculated to be Strung. It makes me sad neither him nor the raven are at fault and that his search for revenge is misguided. It's these things what makes me wish for a more peaceful world where these things do not happen, and one of the reasons I love Armored Core so much :')
Mirage is mine favorite corporation due to them being the most stable structural corporation out of the 3. Crest need to controller to operate and armored core silent and nexus show how Frigale they are without it. And the other one couldn't catch up and simply focus on research. I only down side is their greed got in the way.
I can get behind that. They have all the power behind them and the credits to back it up. Being employed by mirage certainly seems like a job for life too, Unless your a raven or anyone working in their private army.
Hmm, the karasawa and moonlight weapons should have been made my the lesser companies like Kisaragi so it would show that they were doing some major scientific research that was on the verge of being questionable but I guess the bioweapons did that. But those weapons would have been in a better fit with the smaller companies since large corps already had the numbers and resources. Good report as always RAVEN! ^_^
Thank you Love Ark and well i think the issue is the big red and blue corporation had a lot more money on had then Kisaragi who really was struggling without the controller.
I have the vibe off an ice from mirage to me due to their ac parts are mostly heavy which focus on defense(high ac ap produce) and as for the crest are a fire with their light and agile products focusing on offense.
Ironically most of the stuff I used when I replayed AC3 were a mismash of Crest and Mirage parts, but I mainly lean into Crest, but if you wanna do S ranks you are left with no choice gotta moonlight karasawa everything
I think a lot of ravens like to mix and match with parts as well many work well. I honestly don't know about S ranks as I'm not too good of a pilot myself.
Another excellent and thoroughly researched video! As always, a delight to watch; seeing new content from you in my feed always brings a smile to my face :D By the way, have you seen the new 1.5 hour long video on AC from Writing On Games? If so, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. Also congrats on 8k subs! That's amazing!
Thanks Bravo. I enjoyed your new postcard video, that game is beautiful at times. As for writing on games video on an ac its a good video, he hits all the known points about the series, throws in some personal feelings and does what he's known for. Its a shame he had to skip cut scenes in 4 and v ran terrible for him, however you play these game how you can.
Spiritual successor to Zio Matrix and Murakumo. Has most of the advanced parts, check. Plays semi-nice while hinting at wanting to change the current order, check. Engages in pointless backstabbing, check. Made especially stupid when Silent Line and Nexus show that the Controller held them back in the end. With it out of the way, they became a near dominant force for a time, up until Nexus ruined everything. The blue logo of the Alliance makes me suspect most of their guys are still on top in that organization as well.
Mirage were pretty bad dudes but the GRP and Orca were my go-to bodies in so many missions. The choice to use over-boost over orbiters stuck in my craw, I'm a sucker for a good floaty support weapon.
Ah Mirage, just capitalism. ☕ I didn't expect they caused a lot of mess throughout AC3 history (only played Nexus and Last Raven so I missed out some details). Loved their tech though, ngl. It's closest to Gundam-liked design when I customized my AC.

No love for big blue.
Also Belka did nothing wrong
I hate mirage as corporation but the part that they're selling is pretty good actually.
Agreed.
I honestly prefer Crest's parts rather than Mirage's
Love the corporate war crazyiness of older AC games, hopefully the new one has that going on in the game.
