  • Belfast is the capital of Northern Ireland in the UK. With a population of around 300.000 people it is the second largest city of the island after Dublin in the Republic of Ireland. Belfast is also known to be the building place for the RMS Titanic.
    We start our afternoon walk at the Belfast City Hall in the city centre. From there we stroll around the lively walking streets and the shopping complex Victoria Square. We also visit Belfast Big Fish beside the Lagan Lookout and cross over to the Titanic Quarter.
    Walking along the Lagan river we make our way to the Titanic Experience where we end this walk.
    For an evening tour of Belfast, please check out this walk: • Walking in BELFAST / N...

    Wow, so much different from Lille, but just as impressive - very modern architecture with some older buildings in very good shape. Really lovely video - great to see our city looking so positive & sunny. I was trying to work out when it was videoed - sunny & warm yet the kids are in their uniforms. Makes sense now - culture night. You should try to visit the Titanic Hotel if you are ever back - the drawing offices where the Titanic was designed & where the telegram was received with news of the sinking. Actually that whole area of Belfast is really interesting. You get a glimpse of how prosperous, innovative & progressive we were at one point as well as some of the innovation happening again in the city.

    When I was very little, there were 3 nightly narratives on the news each day - Nicaragua, Beirut, and Belfast. The guerrilla war in Northern Ireland that lasted some 30 years was centered right here in Belfast. So pointless and so many lives lost!

    • @Pmccaff2009
      @Pmccaff2009 5 лет назад +2

      Wasn't really pointless? It started over the Irish people wanting basic human civil rights, which they had to fight to get - they were slaughtered in the process by the British and are still occupied and oppressed to this day, but at least we have voting rights. So wasn't exactly pointless, if it didn't happen the Irish natives would still be treated like scum in Belfast, we still are but just not AS badly.

      Ireland and the UK both have plenty of pubs. With Ireland I meant the island of Ireland. The border between the EU and UK is now between the islands of Ireland and Great Britain. Ireland is much smaller than Britain so you have a smaller choice in the list you are interested in. Here on the channel I have bother plenty of (Republic of) Ireland videos as well as the UK. I think you've got a disability of the ocular variety. This is Belfast, not a hole like Dublin or Letterkenny. Our city centre is looked after.

    I always wondered how Belfast would be, there are always old bad memories about it and its suffering.
    Now, through to your video I'm getting an idea of what Belfast is like: with all due respect I was expecting something else, I don't like it too much, sorry...

      What were you expecting? I live in Belfast. The video was just round the centre. There is a lot more than that good and bad.

    Lovely British land, recently was in the Forbes top 10 for best places to work and live in, it had some of the best balance of work-life quality. For reference Dublin was 13th.
    Says it all really doesn't it? ❤🤍💙 🇬🇧
