- Galway is a harbour city in western Ireland. Popular with students and tourists it is a cultural place where Irish music, song and dance traditions are celebrated.
We start our walk at the 18th-century Eyre Square in front of the Pádraic Ó Conaire statue for the Irish writer. We walk into the shopping area and through the Eyre Square Centre Mall which has some part of the old city wall inside.
The "Hall of the Red Earl" is also on our list - another 13th-century archaeological site. Walking further we enjoy the streets of Galway with many stone-clad cafes, pubs and old churches.
Some other part of the city across the River Corrib is a bit quieter. We continue our round back to the Shop Street and High Street until the weather starts to get rainy and windy. Some Irish weather experience just before can see one more sight - the Spanish Arc, where we end this walk.

It's windy, it's rainy and it's gray... I LOVE this!! * adds to list of places to visit *
Good morning
The weather's only as nice as this in the summer.
Typical nice weather from Ireland 😀 I visited Galway in 1996. Nice mystical place. Thanks to the bus drivers to helped me came back to Dublin....(they paid my ticket coz I was out of my money)... Good old times of the youth...
You couldve just taken the train back to Dubln, they dont check for tickets on the way back to Dublin. Atleast when I was there.
The bookshop looks awesome, heaven on earth!!! ;o)
Very nice. I visited Galway a long time ago, really nice, both place and people.
This is one of the best videos I’ve seen in a long time. No music, no jerking. Perfect, which gave me great pleasure as it did my daughter. Her old flat was the white building on the corner at 5mins 48 .
Thank you! Galway is a fantastic place and I hope to revisit soon. All the several hundred videos on this channel are with original audio so you may enjoy also other Irish cities or places around the world for relaxation. Thanks for watching
What a great walk through a beautiful city. Love the narrow streets. We missed Galway when we visited but I would love to see it in person. Especially cool is the hall of the red girl that seems to be free and open to the public. What a great name. I would love to learn more. - Henry
Hall of the Red Earl, I think
Galway, the best Irish city with a European flavour.
Ah I love Galway. Full marks for you braving that Atlantic coastal weather!
Galway is great! Eventually I had to take out my umbrella, ha. I may invest in a waterproof case for the camera next time 🤗
one day I really hope I will live there
Love the rain at the end.
Got back from visiting Galway. Wonderful keepsake video of what I saw there. Thanks.
One of the best places in Ireland to live ;)
Love your video!!!! I used to live in Galway for 3years.This is a most wonderful City in Ireland.Just the weather not on your side that day you filming.
Thank you! It was my second visit to Galway and I also like the city a lot. The shower at the end was a bit stormy yet that's real Irish weather 😎. During the trip end of September most days were fine
Thank you for the video, brings back some memories :)
I miss Galway, one of my favourite places i’ve visited.
I miss you Ireland 💚💚💚☘️☘️☘️
Love my Galway😍😍😍
pepole of galway your totally living in heaven!

Thanks for this video buddy!
hi everybody super video cool to watch😊
I love Galway. My Father lives in Knocknacarra, we living in Germany. We couldn't visit him because of the pandemic for 2 Years. We are hopefull, that we can fly to the Beautiful Ireland at August/September.
Nice Video by the way.
Shortybynature do you know any German
beautiful city i hope to visit soon.
Thank you.
Ohhhh mannn you are doing extra ordinary job. Your video quality is always superb. So, you really Deserve 10Million RUclips subscriber.
Thank you! I'm happy you like these videos. As I'm running the channel for about one year now, I'm pretty happy with the feedback and growth. Many more videos are coming as I enjoy making them. Thanks for the comment and watching!
I live in galway!
Your visit to the church, I made few wishes hope they come true, overall nice video & I also wanted to say u did walk a lot nonstop thanks for sharing
Lovely Irish weather!
Thank you, Daniel, for this wonderful walk. I am sorry you got rained out at the end.
It is amazing, how you managed to block the wind from the microphone. I know it was your goal to do this, and you did a fabulous job! Because all other sounds came through smoothly.
1:19 Cute girl asked you for donation. You politely declined. I noticed there were many others dressed same way asking for donation. Not sure what they were collecting for.
3:46 I just love it, when you walk inside the malls. 5:15 Then in Lower section: I think this is first one where I saw a grocer with carts, in all your walks.
4:44 Looks like a remaining old castle wall, in Mall?
10:48 Old Church. Not sure which one, because there are several in Galway.
14:19 19:47 Just love the beautiful hanging flowers on buildings.
14:26 Hall of the Red Earl: Preserved 13th-century archaeological site featuring 11,000+ artifacts & viewing walkways. Loved this as well.
17:51 23:04 Corrib River. A Beautiful sight there!
21:20 I found this private location very peaceful area and so breathtaking.
By the Corrib River (behind cafe?)
25:00 Rain begins. At first, I hardly saw people with umbrellas, seeing people without head coverings, getting wet hair. Then the umbrellas showed up and people going for covers.
26:09 Another lovely church.
27:51 What an awesome place to get used books!
30:22 - 30:27 I saw where your camera stopped and started again. Guessing you paused to get umbrella as well.
At the end rain was pouring and so windy, I think your umbrella flipped.
Thank you for this walk. Looking forward in watching your POLAND walk, next.
Sincerely, Brigitte in Tulsa, Oklahoma USA
BTW: I love when people reply that live in areas you filmed and walked. It's so wonderful hearing from them all! Even the ones who visited or plan to visit!
The church at 10:48 is St. Nicholas' Church. Lovely market outside it every weekend.
Galway in its natural climate, wet and windy! 😀 But if you get to visit during the summer when the weather is good, its a really great place to hang out
Beautiful video !
Im from Holland and had a girlfriend in Galway almost 20 years ago. I would love to go back some time.
2:14 "Welcome to Galway" it says
Awesome video!
We were halfway there when the rain came down
Of a day -I-ay-I-ay, 😁
I love so much this city soon Insha Allah I will visit Ireland with my wife she is german
Splendid; really grand it was! Pity about all the rain in the end, bringing about what one might expect was a rather earlier-than-probably-intended conclusion - but then, it is Eire after all ({; D ...! Fab video!! **POPtravel**
Mulher bonita e talentosa. Aí enfraquece o coração do homem😂
Dang nasty day for a walk 🍵but great video
Nice video. I was planning to go to Ireland for a few days for my vacation but had to cancel. Do you know about those kids in the green t-shirts and white buckets?
إيرلندا بلد جميل جدا
Thanx for share
it would be really awesome if you could include a small screen in the corner showing on google maps where you are currently walking
I'm testing different ideas how to do that. One option is to have a mobile phone screen recording the Maps and then overlay that video like in a videogame minimap in some corner. I started recording the GPS coordinates later though there isn't an established standard with nice tools on how to link everything with video like WebVMT. The Map and additional info overlays is surely something I'm interested in. Most of that has to be automated so I'm watching that space
@@poptravelorg nice, looking forward to it
Woow
Does it Rain there?...How much for a box of Razor Blades, and some Valium?!
Check the video from 30:30 onwards for your rain question
@@poptravelorg Obviously, the Sarcasm was lost on you!

The water in the river look high level... it still safe from flood?
Walking Tour The river corrib is the fastest flowing river through a city in Europe. It does cause issues with flooding although not quite under that bridge. Just past that on the claddagh area it is common to see sandbags against the shop fronts. The river filmed on this day was after a large amount of rain and at high tide I imagine. Tide plays a huge part not the cities flooding.
It floods a lot lol
My great grandfather came from here c 1860. The songs are so lovely but this does look a sad bleak gray town. Is it the weather ? There was a partial wall of a building. Had it been burnt or bombed. It had clear shielding around it. Can someone tell me about it? Is this usual weather. I wonder why it want filmed on a sunny day. I am left feeling depressed. Sorry. I am in New Zealand but proud of my Irish heritage.
Thank you for the comment. It just happened to be a windy day when I was there in September 2019 for two nights. I came from Dublin and went to film Limerick and then Cork next. I once was in Galway during the summer (early September 2009) and had great sunny weather back then and took many photos.
During my one month trip through Ireland and the UK I visited 27 cities and recorded a 37 videos. When I return to Ireland sometime I will surely visit Galway again as it's one of my favourite places there

@@poptravelorg I completely understand. Limited time ! I thought you must have lived there. I apologise for being critical. 🥰
All good. I also often wished for nicer weather 😎 - mostly due to the non waterproof camera. The rain is quiet typical in Ireland - which makes the nature there so amazingly green. In 2009 I've had 12 days without rain - just one shower. No Irish would believe me 😊
It’s on the edge of the Atlantic. Wind and rain. Four seasons in a day , not unusual. The wall is probably in Corbett court , and would be part of the old city’s medieval one which was refurbished after constructing the shopping centre. Galway was not bombed. There are many pubs to help deal with the weather. Visit, you will not be disappointed. I think we have a Māori playing rugby for us.
The raining country
0:38 I'm not too sure what this guy is wearing or why but he's not even wearing it right
Good walking video, but you should turn the camera before walking in a different direction at several points, and it felt a bit rushed at times. Travel videos are the best when it's not slow mo, fast edits and drone shots with generic chill pop music. I hate when it's more about the self absorbed people filming themselves instead of the place you actually want to visit. Thank you for the nice view
Thank you! I agree, that some turns and moves are too abrupt. I walk rather fast. When passing an interesting side street I have to somehow do a move without too fast panning. I will see that once travel is advisable again I'll maybe do a step back in such cases while slowly panning to avoid having walls to close to the lens
@@poptravelorg No problem and thank you for the content. I can't wait for this ting to blow over, I want to travel so bad. You've been to a lot of places man, I gotta check out more of your vids. Stay safe and have a good day
Was this filmed before the lockdown?
Because I don't see anyone wearing mask ?
I don't live in Ireland
Apparently the lockdown is more severe
Then other countries
I myself don't wear a mask
Never have done and never will
"Filmed in September 2019" You can find this and more info in the video description. Evidently masks protect
Your choice. Not interested 🤷♀️

Very good job !!! It's hard to record with that kind of light. About Galway? From what I see in the images, it's not too bad but maybe it's a bit provincial.... and bloody hell, that depressing weather!!
It doesn’t usually rain like that
@ yep, provincial!!! It looks like a medium-sized town and has the atmosphere of a medium-sized town ... Or maybe it looks like a big village, IDK... So it seems to me, I’m sorry.
@@rsnankivell1962 no need to apologise for being subjective.
Lynch Family let’s go!!👏🏻👏🏻 reply if your a fellow Lynch!!!!!!
what is this about
The channel currently is about showing cities in a unfiltered, uncut way. I usually walk around for 30-90 minutes everywhere and film without comments for original ambience. There may be shorter edited clips later. When you look at the currently 100+ videos there is a good mix of places with many more coming. I started the channel less than 1 year ago so I'm fairly happy about the feedback and early growth. If you have places you'd like to see I'll put them on my list - in case I'm nearby. Thanks for watching!
are you from there
@@poptravelorg yes navan
I was visiting. I'm not from Ireland
@@poptravelorg ok. it's only a kipped
what a kip
Poor people! They live like salmons in a freezer.
Zzzzzzzz boring go inside some pubs
Look at some ladies
0:49 wtf is this? An ugly monstrosity
Depressing kip. It's a horrible city.
Who shit in your cereal? It's a class place. Only downside is the expensive rent
@@cianmac3934 is it expensive? I'm thinking of moving there. Been in Edinburgh for the last 13 years...fucking expensive here like
We’re you named after the princeling , you should be boilsoned in oil, preferably not extra virgin.
Correct!!
Turn of the thunder ,pure fake
I miss Galway so much! I studied abroad there in college and this video brought back so many great memories. It's so fun to see that so much still looks exactly as I remember it, from Eyre Square to that mall (I still have a coat I bought there 15 years ago LOL). Our apartment was closer to the university, but these streets are so familiar and feel like home. Thanks for this great walk!
So many young people
Great
Cool video - thanks 🙏😊
I just wanted to ask, how many GB laptop (8 or 16 or even 32?) are fine for editing 4k videos on adobe premiere? And do you use Gopro 7 for filming or? Thanks alot 🙏😊
Greetz from Austria
I'm using a DJI Osmo Pocket as a camera & Zoom H1 as microphone. My computer is a late 2013 Macbook Pro Retina with 8GB only, though looking to upgrade.
I use several external SSDs for shuffling these huge files and there is an "edit8 AudioSync Pro" Appstore app for the audio sync + standard QuickTime to combine/encode the videos. You will need hardware acceleration for 4K encoding which for me comes with Intel QuickSync inside QuickTime. Then I have custom FFMPEG scripts to put the intro infront without re-encoding. It would be best to use GPU accelerated encoding. Best current value seems to be Nvidia GTX1660 with NVENC for H.265 encoding (with B-frame support).
I'm still researching what PC/Laptop would suit me best though I'd like to stay with Apple but their laptops became unusable (keyboard/screen issues) after 2015 models. Waiting for new 16'' model and pricing... The hardware side is complicated as editing 4K60 mostly is a challenge on a budget. My videos are mostly unedited - just re-encoded for RUclips
@@poptravelorg Thanks alot for the informations - I really appreciate it 🙏😊
@@poptravelorg Hi there! great videos. You're using a 2013 MBP to edit 4k videos? You're brave! When you use quicktime to merge videos, are they exported as 4k as well?
