  • Undoubtedly one of modern history’s most notorious and abhorrent killers -- his crimes are the stuff of nightmares. Over the course of 13 years, he prowled for men and lured them back to his house before drugging and strangling them.

    I was living in Milwaukee while he was on trial and here's an interest tidbit they left out. During his killing spree in Milwaukee, he went to the county mental health hospital to see a doctor, telling them that he needed help. Sitting in the waiting room for hours and not getting in to see anyone, he got bored and left. His killings continued.
    Also, the apartment building he lived in was subsequently torn down and turned into a park.

    • @razzprince2877
      @razzprince2877 5 лет назад +58

      I disagree with the notion that he was more evil then most serial killers. In my opinion Dahmer wasn't as Evil as say Ted Bundy or John Wayne Gacy because he DID understand his crimes, Ted Bundy for example always tried to be seen as innocent or a victim of circumstance but throughout Jeffrey's life behind bars he never asked for forgiveness but you could see in interviews he was truly disgusted of what he did and didn't want to do them.
      It was quite clear that Jeffrey Dahmer had sick fantasies that he just couldn't push away and if you know enough about him then you'll know that he tried time and time again to not kill until it became unbearable or he blacked out and it just happened, when he got captured he would call guards in throughout the night to tell them of victims in order for the families to have closure.
      Dahmer was sick and sadistic without a doubt but he's one of the few serial killers who truly felt remorse for what he did.

    As a teacher, I feel that young Dahmer's fascination with bones and internal organs had gone to waste... Had he been raised in the right environment and was supervised as he grew, he could have been a doctor or surgeon. Instead, he misdirected his curiosity into something like this, just because he wanted companionship. 😔

      I think that it is the fascination about the mind of someone so deranged, because as social creatures who live in groups killing people from our groups is a behaviour which is incredibly odd and realistically nonsensical, we can understand killing or fighting people outside of our own groups, but to kill people who you live next to is a behaviour so beyond macabre and deranged.

      I think there are a lot of different reasons for different people, and they all come together to make videos like this quite popular. You get the psychologist types that are curious what the pathway to people becoming deranged is. In a similar vein, you get people that look for confirmation of pre-existing views of what evil people are like and are just mining for evidence to back it. You get people that know someone that is similar, and they want to be aware of red flags and possible outcomes. Then, as Jordan Peterson would say, we all have potential to do positively malevolent things, and denying it only makes matters worse. You have the people that already see a striking similarity between themselves and criminals. Finally, and worst of all, you have people that only want to know how they got away with what they did and where they went wrong.
      I think between all these types, and probably more, you have the makings of a very popular subject.

    one thing i havent seen any comments about but think is worth mentioning is that there is a graphic novel that goes quite in-depth about his early life. its written by and from the perspective of one of Dahmer's friends. its not that long, but it is very well written. Its called My Friend Dahmer (it was the base for the movie of the same name) written by Derf Beckderf

    I've always believed the prison guards knew and approved of his being killed. I think that he could've been studied. He was willing to talk and so much could have been learned about serial killers, how and why they become what they do. It does seem likely he wanted a companion, someone who wanted to stay, and that's why he tried to make a zombie.
    The Milwaukee police failed that poor boy, and joked about them (gays) on their radios. I've met some cops from that area and found their racist beliefs completely disgusting. They definitely should not have been officers. They weren't THE officers involved with Dahmer, but damn, they were the worst people,

      Fun fact, he had converted to Christianity, 1st century christianity specifically. There's a letter detailing how the prison guards didn't like Dahmer for that reason. They couldn't handle the fact that he had converted and his sins were forgiven. Supposedly the prison guard allowed Jesse Anderson in their knowing full well he had intentions on killing him.
