Julia's rants should have earned her an Emmy.

Omg the scene from Reservations for 8 when Julia goes terminator on the men gets me every time. When she starts speaking and begins to sit then says I’ll tell you something else and jumps up I crack up every time. I was so young when this show came out. In my adult years, I fell in love with Dixie Carter and Annie Potts who is from my home state of Kentucky in a town literally 35 minutes away from where I live! These women played these southern belles so perfectly! I hope we can carry the best qualities of Julia, Suzanne, Mary Jo, and Charlene!

It's interesting that Pamela Norris says here that the women felt safe with Harry, when Delta Burke has gone on the record multiple times saying that he psychologically abused all four of them; that he would yell and berate them, throw things at them, lock them in the room with him and not let them go, etc. I'm far more inclined to believe Delta saying he was abusive than I am to believe Pamela gushing about him as if he were some masculine god who made them feel safe and protected. By all accounts, he was the opposite, and I find that interesting that this was aired years after Delta made those accusations, and yet, such good things were still said about him in this segment.

Wow , Meshach Taylor grandmother lived to be 114 years young. what a blessing and how designing women added her to the episode with Dolly Parton and Jean Smart

Well tbh The Golden Girls paved the way for them as well as Sex and The City, Desperate Housewives, Girlfriends, Living Single etc. In fact at the time Designing Women was considered by most as a Southern Middle Aged Golden Girls which isn't wrong tbh lol.

Wow! Is it true that the show/cast earned 14 Emmy nominations but only won once for hair styling??!!! I've been watching the reruns of this show, and I would have thought they all had won Emmys.

I love this show, including the actors and actresses. However, I don’t buy Dixie Carter’s story. How can you forget to not wear panties, but remember to put on pantyhose? I’m a woman. I would never wear a skirt/dress with no panties, as I know that I’m bound to feel the air hit my “stuff.”
That said, I think her actions were deliberate. I think that she assumed that she could keep the fact that she was wearing no underwear a secret. She wasn’t old enough to be senile….so that’s my take on it.
Either way, this was a good show! I love them all!

Back in the late 1980’s/early 1990’s, a product was introduced, “underalls,” which were pantyhose combined with panties.
And just because YOU always wear panties with pantyhose, doesn’t mean other women DONT.
A friend of mine is “commando” 98% of the time, no matter what she’s wearing.
You also apparently don’t know much about TV production.
Time is money, many times things are done in a hurry.
She is more a lady than you will ever understand, her embarrassment is real.

With the episode where Julia "Mooned Atlanta" she explained ed she was asked to not wear them, due to a crease being visible.
