I'll never forget one night in 1964 in Hamilton, Ontario when I was doing my usual late night radio surfing on my parents big console set that at night was able to clearly tune in well over 200 radio stations from all over N. America. It had one of those big plastic dials with a giant lead weight behind it. That night every single station, all 200 plus, were playing a Beatles record all at the same time at the moment I was surfing. To be sure to what I was listening, I reversed the process from the other end of the dial and got the same result. No other recording artist in history can claim that I believe, nor will they in the future. In 300 years, people will still be listening to the Beatles.
We're all here because of Macca, but hats of to the interviewer. He's excellent, such a pleasant, well spoken, intelligent man, who's genuinely interested in his interviewee. Fab.

Like himself, I love books too. Thanks RUclips for material I wouldn't get to enjoy otherwise!
Good point, the (great) interview was not interrupted with any ads. I guess because it was an ad itself and they made certain that it was not broken and disturbed. Pleasure to see for a change.
I saw The Beatles August 15, 1965 at New York Shea Stadium, I was only 12 going on 13 years old. Lucky me I was there! I saw Paul's "New World Tour" in 1993, New Jersey Meadowlands, again at New York Citifield's "Return to Shea" in 2009. I turned 71 last October, still listening to The Beatles and Sir Paul McCartney
He is so honest-and it’s where his art is grounded. Asked how his lyrics say so much in a 3-minute song, he answered, “Start the song with a statement of truth.”
What a great interview, its nice that the days of interviewers poking and prodding to discover new "Beatles" insights., rather than to find Paul. Its been a long and winding road, and im very happy that we still have this beautiful soul.

Paul and Elton John are soooo good to listen to. Very articulate and honest. This interviewer is also superb, knows the art of keeping silent and let the stars talk. 🎼🎶🎸
Let's face it, the man's a living legend; it always amazed me that The Beatles were able to stay so level headed despite their phenomenal global success
And the stresses of fame. It’s nothing short of amazing what and how much they accomplished and the quality of their output living in a fishbowl is nothing short of amazing.
Fame did get to them, but as they've all said, at least they had each other. Elvis was on his own, but the four Bealtes were able to support each other through what must at times have been hell. Their humble upbringings helped a lot too. Sadly, John didn't cope as well, due in large part to his childhood trauma and insecurity, which was one factor leading to them splitting up as a band. But they still all loved each other. So much to learn from these guys!
His compositions Yesterday,Long and winding road, hey Jude etc,are as monumental as the classic hymns and Bach, they will be powerful in hundreds of years time
@@olskzeri4991 Just because he supposedly died it doesn't mean his songs are garbage. Even if paul died he wrote better songs than the 'old paul mccartney'

I was born 4 years AFTER The Beatles broke up, and not known a life without The Beatles music and Fab Four lurking in my life in some way and will forever be grateful to have been alive during a time where their existence has informed mine and so many others lives. Thank you John, George, Ringo, and Paul.
Bless him & Ringo man I’m glad the last Beatles are doing well and are in good health. The fact that they are both still putting out music in there 80’s is insane.
Ringo is the last Beatle alive.
I remember the newspaper headline when George died... "AND THEN THERE WERE TWO..."
Billy is a Beatle too. Good job all these years you son of the magician.@@olskzeri4991
So sweet that he's still delighted with the creative process (of writing a song).
We're all here because of Macca, but hats of to the interviewer. He's excellent, such a pleasant, well spoken, intelligent man, who's genuinely interested in his interviewee. Fab.
"Macca". You mean William.
Fascinating. I was going to watch a few minutes and I watched the whole thing. So many interesting insights into Paul's life and Art. Daunt an excellent and sympathetic interviewer as well.
Simply a delight to listen to Paul converse on so much that influenced and inspired him with such candor, humility and warmth! He's got such a welcoming, homey, personality which juxtaposes with the fame, fortune and accolades of his life. The Lyrics is a present I'll soon purchase for myself and think it money well spent. Like himself, I love books too. Thanks RUclips for material I wouldn't get to enjoy otherwise!
Good point, the (great) interview was not interrupted with any ads.
I guess because it was an ad itself and they made certain that it was not broken and disturbed. Pleasure to see for a change.
Did you buy your present and love it? Mine is ordered :)
We all need to appreciate Paul more, he is a complete creative!
I turned 71 last October, still listening to The Beatles and Sir Paul McCartney
what a lovely man he is, I’ve never seen an interview in his 50+ years of fame where he doesn’t come across impeccably. An absolute hero
He is so honest-and it’s where his art is grounded. Asked how his lyrics say so much in a 3-minute song, he answered, “Start the song with a statement of truth.”
Honest is the last thing William is. And he did not compose thoose 3 minutes long songs.
What a great interview, its nice that the days of interviewers poking and prodding to discover new "Beatles" insights., rather than to find Paul. Its been a long and winding road, and im very happy that we still have this beautiful soul.

Wonderful human being. One of the most important artists that have ever lived. I love his music, love listening to his stories. An amazing person who's music will live on forever 👏👏👏👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️
I just love this man, beside the musical genius he is, he's such a nice, considered, down to earth and respectful person... really one in a billion.

SO refreshing to get an interview where there's proper information and not just " how do your write your song's Paul" well done James Daunt ...respect!
I must say I do miss "What's your favorite colour?"

Absolutely one of the best interviews Paul has ever been involved in… he’s just wonderful and I cherish the fact of his ongoing voice in the world. Blessings for keeping on well, brilliant, & happy.
Thank you! ❤

Paul has an amazing ability to keep himself in the public eye and popular for 60 years! he is an amazing talent and businessman, his popularity show it as well as his bank account! He is worth over a Billion dollars.

Pre-ordered and purchased the book; a fascinating and inciteful read - highly recommended. Very much enjoyed this interview too - thanks.
What a legacy …paul has given us so much joy . 🎸🎶 🇬🇧
His compositions Yesterday,Long and winding road, hey Jude etc,are as monumental as the classic hymns and Bach, they will be powerful in hundreds of years time
"Sir Paul" (William) did not write Yesterday. He is just Another day.

Paul looks fantastic for his age. Oddly enough, his gray hair does not age him much. Really cool guy!
It's quite simple. He's one of the best songwriters ever & he's a nice bloke
William is overrated as a songwriter.
@@olskzeri4991 Who you call Faul is a far superior songwriter. All Paul ever did was write simple love songs

Lovely interview no talk show host or hyped up audience just thoughtful questions
I love how Paul is so calm when he talks, and entirely enjoys doing interviews....plus he let himself age so gracefully....got rid of the dye and like the 5 o'clock shadow look very distinguished....hope I age that well.....God Bless you Paul!
William doesn't need to dye his hair anymore since he became whitehaired.
So fortunate to be a member of the generation that danced to this man's melodies. He's one of a handful of great 20th century songwriters, which includes George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Hoagy Carmichael, Irving Berlín, and Bob Dylan.
Yeah must be no shave November
Nothing bothers this guy. He is cool as a cucumber and never loses his personality even in the toughest of situations. Almost superhuman fortitude.
That's why he is one of a kind and a role model for everyone . A unique human being the likes of which we will probably never see again.
We are lucky to be alive during his time, and breath the same air he breaths.!
Lying old William should not be a role model for anyone. When he have lied ever since he joined Beatles "as an already set up affair".
Lying old Bill should not be a role model for anyone.

James Paul McCartney ~ A most representative example for humanity to learn from, across the generations to come. Pauls contribution to world history will be studied, relished and shared infinitely.

It's the weirdest thing, I find comfort in listening to any beatles interview. I can listen to them speak for hours. For one thing, it's amazing how down to earth and grounded they remained after achieving a level of fame virtually nobody has ever lived. Yeah they went through drugs , alcohol, and their changes but they always stayed humble and true to roots. That's fascinating. I dont think they get enough credit for it. That kind of fame would take a lot of people for a ride outside reality. So that amazes me. Then they just have an irresistible charisma. Thank God at least half of them are still here. John and George are missed. Rip guys
Sadly the only Beatle alive in 2024 is Ringo Starr. Paul died first in 1966, Lennon was murdered in 1980 and Harrison died in 2001. There is only Ringo and William alive now. It is all a big charade.
