  • I recently upgraded to the FabFilter Pro-Q 3. This week I walk through the basics of the popular EQ plugin and demonstrate a handful of version 3's new features.

Pro Q-3 ends up on most tracks in my sessions ever since I bought it a few years ago. So many great tools that doesn't require that much processing power. Definitely worth getting.

Great demo... you're a really good teacher! So many demo videos fail to make a connection to the audience, but you nailed it. Now when is this thing on sale?

Thought about getting the Pro-Q3, but then I upgraded my iZotope Neutron to advanced and I love the standalone Neutron EQ. I can see that ProQ-3 has some minor features that the Neutron EQ standalone is missing, but I`m totally fine with that. Great video and good insights.

I’m thinking of doing the iZotope subscription…currently have their basic bundle which I like, but I keep looking at Fabfilter over and over.

Excellent video. They should sponsor you. You’re going to close some sales for them. Just wish they had a sale sometime soon.

Looks like a great plugin, I'm still using waves f6 which does most of what I need. Cubase also let's you compare frequencies between tracks which I use all the time.

    Hello:) amazing video!
I have one question - because I am writing sort of cinematic music and I am a beginner - is it possible to do a final mix using only intuition and to listen a piece on diffrent headphones and monitors? Just to ballance particular instruments in my partiture by experimenting with dynamics?

I have Pro-Q 3, Am I missing out on Pro-Q 2. I didn’t get Pro-Q 2 because I have the third Pro-Q, but now thinking if Pro-Q 2 has anything cool and unique that Pro-Q 3 doesn’t have. Of course the third one is way superior, but I haven’t been able to get a simple answer on if Pro-Q 2 would be worth to get even tho I have Pro-Q 3, or would it just literally be wasting money…. Oh and Jon Meyer, I want you to know I’m a huge fan of your Decent Sampler libraries. I have every single DS library released by you. Please make us an 808 Bass library for Decent Sampler. At this point there’s only two 808 Sub libraries (Modular 808 & STATIC) with a total of 3 presets and “ZERO” Drumkits. I know you can make this happen

It seems great, but I'm really reluctant to pay this much money for 'just' an equalizer. It's more expensive than any of the synths I have, but considering how this is always the one eq everyone talks about and uses, I'm starting to believe any cheaper alternative is quite the downgrade. Considering how decent free alternatives are I might as well stick to Nova and Mequalizer until there's some really good sale. Probably won't happen, but fingers crossed.

      the free alternatives are excellent.

@@JonMeyer I have always liked those and wouldn't have minded it much if I had to stick with those, but luckily I think I have found a perfect in-between alternative: Toneboosters Equalizer. A dynamic EQ that has much of the Pro-Q functionality, but a lot more in my price range. So, there's a tip for anyone reading this that is also in my position.

Hey dude great video. I had a question maybe you might be able to answer if you have a moment.
Let's say I have pro Q3 on snare track. And I am creating two dynamic bands that I am going to set up as a side chain to two different instruments within that 1 pro Q3 plug-in I have on that snare track..
I've noticed when I try to do this. And try to Side chain the two bands to two different instruments. They automatically default to the same one.
Do you know if I have to have separate pro Q3 plug-ins on the snare track, one designated to the different instrument that I am going to side chain to?
I thought I would be able to side chain multiple bands to any instrument for side chaining within the same one pro Q3 plug-in on the track.
    Hopefully I didn't confuse you.
Anyway thanks again for posting such a great video

I'm afraid I can't be much help with your issue. I'm not exactly a power user of the plug-in, but thanks for the kind words about my video!
