- I loved the concept of a drone now I love the 100% connection I get with my DJI Spark. Fly the Spark with just my cell phone was not the best. So, I upgraded and bought the DJI remote. All the features were now working but I still had some connection issues.
But, all that changed when I purchased the OTG cable. Now I have 100% connection with the drone and I can see the images on my cell phone crystal clear now in real-time.
The DJI Spark drone takes good video and pictures. Plus with all the features like dronie mode, rocket, helix, active tracking and tap fly you will be sure to get you that perfect dji spark footage.

Man you're right. The OTG cable makes ALL the difference. I turn off wifi on my phone so it's just cellular and the cable connection handles everything else. Perfect! Thanks for the tip.

How random a couple weeks ago I was about to use that headgasket repair stuff and happened to watch your video when used it In a grand prix. Now my buddy is wanting to get rid of his spark with the fly more combo and the otg cable for $300 so I was researching the spark and features that would differ from my phantom 3. I stumbled upon this video. I had to go back and check but I was like I swear that's same dude that tested headgasket repair stuff, sure enough!!! Wow great eye for the cinema shot. All very good. Can't beat the OTG, I wish my Phantom used one. The waterfall was incredibly beautiful, just remember those tight places the Spark will fool you and go nuts trying to avoid a hit. It was good that you were filming a Limestone waterfall, some rock can have metals in the rock that will jam you up faster than you know. You're wonderfully Accomplished as a Pilot.Props on the respect and safety you showed and used while filming. We so need more Pilots like you. Merry Christmas to you and Family.

Nice vid. Bought a Yuneec Breeze a year ago. My first quad ever. Spark is next on my list. I learn new stuff about this thing everyday thanks to video like yours and others. I've got Spark fever.
TheOTG Cable made a major difference. For some reason my LG-V30 phone would drop connectivity in and out when connecting with wifi, even at short distances. Going past 1200 feet seemed to be a hassle, but now with my OTG cable I am able to make the 1 mile range with a nice clear phone display all the way. Until now I thought the 720P phone display was supposed to be fuzzy and drifting in and out, but the OTG cable made all the difference. Don't know why the wifi should have the problem it does though. Regarding the record issue. If you forget to turn of the video of your spark turn your Spark back on and the go4 app back on and wait for about 30 secs you can recover those files with no problem. Do NOT record while waiting, just let it sit there. I tried this and it works.

oxmanagain yeah man I watch that one already lol. Hey so realized that I have galaxy S9 which has a USB type C connection. Do they make that cable with those specs?

Yeah it sucks that the new GoApp 4- v4.1.18 update has stopped use of the OTG cable and a insider who I can't name so I do not get them in trouble told me it was because of its use for the Goggles interfered with some of the stability with the spark. Basically instead of doing a little more work and giving options in settings to select to use OTG for RC/Goggles or OTG for RC/Mobile Device they just patched the OTG for Mobile connection and said "Sorry". I think if enough of us write in and post complaints in Forums we can make a change happen though! Until then just use your Computer or Aptoide (Android Device) and reinstall the previous version of Go4 App and keep using the OTG cable, only downside is we lose some cool new features that came with v.4.1.18. Anyway just my 2 cents, Thanks for the video and taking the time to contribute to the community!!

That's too bad. The goggles adoption rate is probably pretty low, like 1%.

You do not have to lose your video. Just turn everything on and start recording a new video. Your lost video will be close by the software with the start of the new video. Stop the recording video in the popper way and close down the system. Your lost video must be now recovered on the memory-card. It did work for me.
If you try to recover it by windows before or formatted it, i do not think you can recover it any more. Never let windows repair your memory-card, let Dji software do this.
It is a good idea after you saved the video's on a other media and you got complains from your windows PC (problems with your card), to do a format by your Dji software when the card is back into the Spark. First make sure all your video's are backup-ed.

Really great video. Just got a Spark last weekend but I live in Iowa so the weather is a little unforgiving this time off year. I live on the Plains or Praire if you want, during the spring summer and most of fall its great weather except when the wind comes. 50 to 60 mph gusts are not uncommon so you really have to watch and pick your days. One thing I might suggest is when you get ready to hook up the cable turn off your phones wifi. I find that I get even more range and a much better picture by doing this. I use IOS so I'm not sure how well it will work with Android but it has helped me with my Phantoms a lot. Only been able to try it once with the Spark and it seemed to work just as well. Awesome video. I'm new to trying to become a drone pilot, and this video helped a lot on what to expect. One question,. Will the drone keep up with u of it follows u in the freeway?
It has a following speed of roughly 25 to 35 miles an hour. Plus, I think the freeway is not the safest place to fly one of these because of something goes wrong you do not want to be the cause of that.

do you guys fly on 5.8ghz or 2.4ghz ?
I have the Mavic Pro and my Samsung Tab A did not connect. It worked with the OTG and my Android LG smartphone. The problems were solved when I connected an IOS device like the Ipad Mini 4. It even worked on my year old Phantom 3 Standard. Still there were some connection issues, but after deleting unused apps or non essential apps, it worked very well.
I highly recommend IOS devices with these drones. When using a smartphone, switch your phone to AIRPLANE MODE and delete apps that are not being used. By doing so, you will save memory, battery life, and most importantly, the life of your Spark. If you can, buy a used Iphone 6 or 7 dedicated for your Spark or Mavic Pro.

Just like others, recent app updates removes telemetry information, making the OTG cable no longer a viable option. I prefer using the cable, which makes these app updates disappointing, and removes the Spark from my list of recommendations when asked about drones.

They are very fun to fly, it gets addicting.
I just got my Spark about a week ago. All firmware is up to date. My otg cable works on my Android. I think he forgot to mention that you have to put your phone into airplane mode & the order in which you turn everything on is important.
I think the latest update might have fixed some stuff but thanks for the tips.

When I bought the Spark the Air was not out yet. If you have the money the Air is much better. I'm thinking about upgrading to the Air because it has more sensors and the battery life is longer.

Thanks for watching and you're welcome. Before I got three mode, yes I used Wi-Fi to connect the phone with the Drone. Then, once I got the remote I used Wi-Fi to connect the remote to the Drone. then when I got the OTG cable no Wi-fi was needed in the connection is amazing. There was a time when the height, speed and distance indicators did not work. After a few upgrades now all of the end. Thanks again and you have a good one.
Thank you. I just read about the firmware upgrade that pretty much fixed the issue so no more need for the otg cable. But I still might keep one handy in the bag, just in case. Again, thanks. =)
