Amazing! This has to be my favorite bass ever. I feel so lucky to have one. I bought mine new in 2007 and thought I'd never had one because all I could find in stores (I live in Mexico City) were green ones. I had to go to three stores in San Francisco to even find one, but when I did.. man, I almost cried. Its a 2006 model and I swear to god, it looks like it was a custom shop model. The maple in the neck is so milky white, with a very light flame all over, and the rosewood is soooo dark, its almost pitch black. The Diamond in the back of the headstock from Fender's anniversary is just the icing on the cake. I uploaded a video with it a million years ago, playing something completely different from Blink if you want to see it (since we're all enthusiasts of this bass), and I'm telling you, I'm taking that bass to the grave. Great vids btw, I'm hooked!
Mark used the black on black 1.5 style at +44's first show in LA. The first outing for the 'new' Mark Hoppus bass--that is, the white, blonde and sunburst with reverse pickups and tortoiseshell pick guards--was at London Astoria.
I THINK there was also a run of the black and white ones with pearloid pickguards. I always assumed that they were part of the original run, but maybe they were a version 1.25? Or maybe they didn't actually exist? But I know for a fact that musiciansfriend and guitar center showed those colors with the pearl guards in their photos. Would be curious to know the full story there!
John Feldmann also has a version of Sid. Not sure if it's CS or MIM. Sid inspired my white with black guard Pbass. A little MH, Ramones, and Jay Bentley.
Mark did a gear Q&A on the OG fb blink collectors group back in 2015. I asked him about the Orange MM bass and the yellow AOL bass. He confirmed the yellow was sent back to fender and painted another color. I can maybe find screen shots to back this up.
fantastic video, fellas. you guys are killing it. i had/have a 2007 Mark Hoppus Signature Black on Black. i actually modified it as well. i took a 2008 American Standard Precision Bass and took the neck, tuners, neck plate and bridge and put it on the Mark Hoppus model body. i then added a tone knob and swapped the pick-ups out for Seymour Duncan SPB-1s. the Quarter Pounders were too poppy and doinky sounding to me. i also custom made a pickguard out of aluminum diamond plate. and now it's covered in stickers lol. it sounds and plays AMAZING. eventually i want to get another 2008 American Standard Precision Bass(2008 is special for me for personal reasons) and do the same thing on a White, version 1.5 Mark Hoppus model, but they're a tough find. i've been thinking about getting a body made thru Warmoth. i was actually, no BS, gonna name it Dee Dee lmao...sorry this comment is so long. once again, GREAT WORK, GREAT VID, keep 'em coming!!!! :D
Always awesome videos! How are you guys finding all these real basses and guitars blink used for sale. Do you know the techs? It would be awesome to own one

Oh interesting! Thanks!
A white Fender bass with a black guard is a rite of passage for punk bassists. I can hardly think of anyone who hasn't used one
Yeah we were thinking the same before we started recording
Cool! Would love more info on Marks basses. Seems like there is more info on Toms guitars accessible online.
Yeah I think we might do a few of his

the +44 bass is the only one that’s blonde. its kinda yellowish compared to the mk2 thats more white white

It’s a staple for any punk band haha
This bass is iconic! 🤘🏻
You’re iconic
@@Gear182 hehe

I suspect it later became groundskeeper willie.
Yeah I’d love to see !

Oh sick! I really like the black on black
This bass looked so rad at the teen choice awards in 04…think that’s the first time I saw it. Would love to get my hands on a replica!
Pretty easy to do 😄
Alt channel where you talk about Power Rangers vs Zyuranger and the Zyu2 footage. PR nerd here haha
Hahahah
I’m just waiting for the hot pink one video (don’t remember it name), probably my favourite Mark’s bass of all time 🤘🏼
Hey. There was a few. “Skully” being the main
@@Gear182 Yeah Skully! The one with the custom inlays i believe i was talking about. Love that bass
Hey man can you do a video of the iconic Mark’s pink bass?? (Skully)
We 100% will in a future episode
I was rewatching the letter to Elise cover and I was wondering if you guys know what was hanging from Sid’s headstock in that video?
It’s a keychain from famous stars and straps
@@Gear182 thank you!

It’s getting harder and harder to find now, especially at any sort of reasonable price
they could put a black pickguard on the new Sid
They 100% could
So which one of his basses didn't have an American neck on it then?
Grounds keeper willie. His first date shell pink. Those are a couple of them
And the Octo-Bass from 2012.
