That was definitely a person skulking around down there. That is what you were hearing.. They probably got caught out when you directed your camera on the stage area but thought that if they moved reeeeal slow you wouldn't see them. Which you didn't until later. Great vid though. Such a shame it was abandoned. What a beautiful location! Keep exploring mate!
There were a lot of weird sounds in there, which is interesting. You may not believe this, but many schools are haunted! I know of 3 schools in the small town where I live that are. I’ve also heard of many others so that one you were exploring could be as well, you never know! 👻👻

I googled this school and Looks like it was a K-12 and when it closed had 33 students attending. found a FB page for a couple towns and there schools. looks like when to coal mines closed the area dried up. the county has like 40,000 residents. Campbell county has several grade school and 2 high school. based on the graduating class of 2019 for one of the school they have about 50 students graduating.
Loved the video. I have been there when it was open. Brought back memories playing on that court. My best friend graduated here in 1996. He was one of the 6 seniors they had that year. This school was so far out of the way the county ended up shutting it down due to the cost it took to keep it open (my father in law worked at the CC Board of ED). This was a K-12 school. Stoney Fork was a mining community that is no longer in business. If you get a chance to go back there is a cemetery if you turn left out of the parking lot. You will see a church on your left. Many of the people in the cemetery died on the same day because of a flood (that was the story told to me). I believe it was in the 1930’s. It is very freaky to walk around the cemetery and see so many headstones with the same date.

Local news carried a feature story over family that bought an abandoned school. His kids gonna invite in friends to play on the full size basketball court indoors and outdoors, play on the built in swings, or be 8 stools away while they're doing their business in the huge school bathrooms. Lots of extra rooms were closed up and all heating was directed to the spaces they occupied. the school came with a nice library for children.
The floors in the hallways were concrete due to that is where the kids (like I was also trained to do in school in the 90s) would retreat to in case of an emergency drill for tornadoes specifically.
I’ve already left a comment but just want to say how creepy that part at 18:14 is! I take it that there were no other cars or any other vehicles at that school while you were there, correct? I think if there was you would’ve said so. If that was a person under the stage, how did they get there?! Very weird! Also, who would be randomly hanging around underneath a stage in an old, decrepit building in the middle of nowhere like that?! Doesn’t seem very likely to me. Also, another viewer pointed out that it looks like whatever that is was floating. I’ve watched that part a lot of times and it does look like it could be floating! Thanks for this video Jon. I love your abandoned haunted exploration videos. Yeah that school is definitely haunted I think. Yeah as soon as you walked into that gymn... I could feel and sense spirits in there. And right after you hollered hello in there... Right away you could hear rustling sounds and what almost distinctly sounded to me like the ghostly squeak of like someone's tennis shoe on the gym floor like you would hear when someone is playing basketball in there. That was creepy. It was kinda faint. But I could hear it. That lunchroom was kinda small. And it's sad to see the floors caving in and crumbling. Place was in operation about 60 something years wasn't it? All them woods around the school makes it even more creepy. Woods can be creepy places as well. Sometimes they are full of creepy creatures like Bigfoot and Dogman and sometimes even ghosts and spirits and demons. Yeah Woods are creepy too. When you would span the camera at the woods. I was wondering if any bigfoots was lurking in the trees and watching you. Be careful out there. I'm gonna go check out now what you was talkin about was maybe a person or ghost in the gymn.

That's where I got my education. Had some good times and bad times at stony fork. Explore clinchmore. I don't know if it's haunted or not, but it should be because back in 1966 when I lived in pee wee there was a flood in clinchmore and it took out a whole family of five. The man was a preacher at one of the local churches. Clinchmore was a coal mining town. It was a whole town back then. That's all I know about it. I heard most of it from my mom and dad. They lived way back in those mountains when they were children and then moved to clinchmore after they grew up.. from the school you take a left when you get to the road and it will take you there. Nothing there now but a church, they still have service there every Sunday. You go across a little creek and it will take you right there.. the road is nothing now but looks like a trail.. take a gun or something, because of bears and other wild animals.
When you first go in the gym and yell hello, looks like a door open on a back wall under the stage with tons of light coming through. By your next trip in the gym door is closed showing only a crack of light. Really think that was a squatter hiding.

Around 5:05 when you are on the right side of the gym there is light under the stage, as though there is a window to outside under there. However when you are closer at 18:07 you can't see the window at that angle, but shouldn't the light have still lit whatever was moving under the stage? Creepy 👻, 🦇, 🧟♂️ or 🧛♂️
