99 percent of the people don't realize it started raining and the mother otter looked up seeing the rain not wanting her baby to get wet went to that ledge in the corner where there was a cover above it protecting her baby from getting wet. Pretty smart and good maternal instincts.
She is just so dear! What a good mom. See how she does multiple tasks at once!! Holds her baby! Floats and pushes off the rocks! Looks so darn cute you just want to pick them both up and put them in our pockets! Just perfect💕🦦💕🦦💕
Watching her push off the rock like a human. Crazy. Im obsessed with these critters. She looks around like,"why ru staring at me?" omg. I cant stop. Theyre so cute
Beatriz Victoria yes!! Me2. Like we do w/ ours as a reassurance and also her snuggling with the baby(5:05 mark) Around the 3;54 mark it looks like shes covering its ears bc of the banging. Lol. So stinking cute
I never get tired of watching wildlife. What a shot, you don't see a mom and baby in captivity just hanging out. She doesn't feel threaten with all the people and the noise.
Otters have the cutest faces of all mamels combined I think. I just love how cute they look and I wouldn't mind raising a baby outer !!!! Their so smart too .
I completely died at 4:48-4:55. Seeing this makes realize even more how truly special it is to be a mother. It really is an amazing gift from God to be the life giver, nurturer, protector, teacher of the young.
1 day old? This is so precious. The love on mom's face protecting her baby otter. I love everything about sea otters. They're so precious. Adorable, loving, smart, protective, creative, playful, cute.....just everything..... I only started getting into it a week ago and can't get enough!!! So cute. The way they float on their backs little paws eat ice....just everything...Aw! :D
What a beautiful mommy and baby. I feel bad for the mother, though. I can only imagine that it would be terrifying to be an animal with a young one and have so many people and animals around that you don't understand and can't control. It would be in her nature to go somewhere protected and silent and safe.
Yeah the video feed got cut before the part where the aquarium staff take the baby from her and beat them with planks of wood for the guests' entertainment, pretty sick stuff
Just so dam CUTE!!!! 🥰 Love the way she pushes off the wall to keep floating .... I just LOVE LOVE Otters, so entertaining to watch, very soothing too!! 💕
That is amazing and look how smart she is to push her hands to the rocks to push her the other way and then nudging the baby to make sure the baby knows she's there that's pretty cute
It's so amazing to see this... It's also crazy to think that some humans abuse their children. Seems like animals have a bigger heart than some humans.
Alejandro Galicia Diaz -- yes and those sick & evil people that abuse and neglect children is incredibly heartbreaking! And they are soo ignorant about the needs of others including these adorable fluff ball creatures!
Well, sea otter moms will sometimes abandon their pups. Like if a mom has twins and is unable to nurse both, she will abandon one, which means certain death for the pup unless humans rescue it. You also have male otters kidnapping or killing pups so that they can mate with the mother. Or any otter kidnapping pups as a way to extort food from the mother. Not to mention that male sea otters rape and kill baby seals. So I think both humans and otters can abuse their young or the young of other species. The difference is that it's instinct for otters and they can't help it. Humans choose to abuse.
phantasmicmasque, i agree. Her eyes looked scared when the people were talking. She was on high alert with the banging, but her eyes didn’t look scared. But then again, she wouldn’t have left the baby on the rocks if she thought there was danger.
Trixie yeah, she doesn’t look scared for sure, she trusts the zoo keepers, but I just think she needs a break from prying eyes. I’m sure she gets plenty of rest once the zoo is closed :3
I dunno. I think if the humans were making her anxious, she probably wouldn't have put her pup in the window right next to them and left it there for a bit.
Too cute..🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗 I love otters and the most beautiful thing in the world that I have seen is Otsuyu who lives in Loutre cafe in Japan when she gave birth and gave birth to little Wasabi & Namida and raised them with her sister Odashi. Otters are heavenly creatures to me.😇
Look how sweet momma is to her pup. They're so adorable the way she grooms and holds her sweet little pup; She's a real mom she'll do anything to protect her pup ; like these Otters are so smart caring and sweet . It's beautiful to see how a animal can be so loving and compassionate. ❤❤🥺😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
It had snowed the night before and froze up on the stairs leading to an upper baclony where I shot the video. Some groundskeepers were scraping the ice off of the stairs with snow shovels. I thought it was cute how Aniak held Sekiu closer and carefully watched out while that clanging was going on.
I've only started watching sea otter vids a week ago. It's starting to replace my lifelong love of dogs/puppies...... O_O OMG! Sea otters especially sea otter babies are sooooooooo cute! And they're so smart!
It started raining in the area and that ledge had a cover where rain couldn't soak her baby. She doesn't care about the people. lol. Rewind it back as she looks up at the rain. They are smart. She immediately went under the rock cover. The baby was sleeping and she didn't want it to get wet.
I love watching the sea otter I haven't seen too many of them but that mother really takes care of her baby it's wonderful to see so precious thank you
When the water began sprinkling down on her she turned her baby around to tuck its face under hers so the water wouldn’t get on the pups face. Good mama being a great care giver
That's absolutely adorable her turning in the baby over how sweet is that. If anything makes you smile it's animals it just makes you so happy inside I love animals of all kinds
That is amazing God I can't get over saying that that is so beautiful and then just watching her take her back pop and push the baby's head back up to feed
Thanks everyone for your responses. Check out the video response I posted. Japan's National Broadcasting Corporation, NHK, featured this Sea Otter pup video on their show, Tokudane Toko Doga, which aired 8/27/12 on National TV in Japan. It included a clip of an interview with myself as wells as several of your comments. Thanks again for watching!
At 4:04 Look at how Moma is looking at those guys chopping the ice off the stairs , That look is telling them ...ARE YOU FRIGGIN SERIOUS RIGHT NOW , CAN'T YOU SEE THAT I JUST GOT MY BABY TO SLEEP AND YOU ARE GOING TO WAKE HIM UP WITH ALL THAT BANGING ANG CLANKING . Awww Seiku >-< I saw her when she was 4 hours old, she's almost a year now. Still adorable, a little less fluffy. Time go's by to fast ;-; Then that Skagway and Wadaa. They are just such lazy bums. Skagway loves to suck on his tail
I agree with metalman895 I feel sorry for the cute mommy and baby otters. I really like zoos, because people can see animals from around the world but sometimes they make me angry because of how caged up wild animals are. It is also obvious that the mommy otter is concerned and probably frightened by the loud noise and staring humans. Being a human myself I can stand how loud the video is imagine the poor otters...

The way she’s using her paws to avoid bumping of to those rocks is so cute 😍
I completely died at 4:48-4:55.

Both mom and the pup are extremely cute! I love the way she rubs her nose on the pup just like an affectionate human mom!
i love how she pays attention to where the little guys' head is in relation to the water...doesn't let his little head fall overboard. :-D
Wow...so funny and cute 🤩🥰🥰🥰
Thanks for sharing
Awe, mama knows when baby’s head is touching the water. So adorable!

Otters are such precious creatures.
Oh god, what a wonderful mother you are and how beautiful your little baby is..🦦🦦😍😍Wonderful💗

She doesn’t have a problem she a city girl . They trained her to let the vet look at the baby so she used to it.
@@judithhstevens126 She's Cute.
Safer than most otters She knows no predators here
Yeah the video feed got cut before the part where the aquarium staff take the baby from her and beat them with planks of wood for the guests' entertainment, pretty sick stuff
This has to be the cutest most loving thing I have ever seen....What an amazing mama.
Can we appreciate how fantastic the camera is even when it zooms in and the graphics is still amazing!(clap with otter paws)
The way she gently pats the baby..........love it.
Just so dam CUTE!!!! 🥰 Love the way she pushes off the wall to keep floating .... I just LOVE LOVE Otters, so entertaining to watch, very soothing too!! 💕
she keeps patting it in the back, what a great mom :)
She picked up her baby like a human mother picks up her baby, when she put the baby on the ledge. :):):) CUTEEE!
she s so gentle holding him how adorable
That is amazing and look how smart she is to push her hands to the rocks to push her the other way and then nudging the baby to make sure the baby knows she's there that's pretty cute
AWWWW When the mom is holding its head so it wont fall :3

Who are the 24 people who disliked this video?! Psychopaths and evil doers, no doubt. I’m ded by cuteness with this video.
Terence Smith i 101% agree
I'm a psychopath and I love this video
It’s people like me, who like to view animals in their natural habitat. Not locked in a sad zoo.
Best video... mothers love is unconditional..! ☺
I feel like this mama is overwhelmed and needs some quiet time, i hope the Seattle zoo has some back enclosure for her to rest with her baby
phantasmicmasque, i agree. Her eyes looked scared when the people were talking. She was on high alert with the banging, but her eyes didn’t look scared. But then again, she wouldn’t have left the baby on the rocks if she thought there was danger.

I agree. Way too much noise from the humans, it was making mama otter anxious.
I dunno. I think if the humans were making her anxious, she probably wouldn't have put her pup in the window right next to them and left it there for a bit.
The fact that it was patting its pup made it a whole lot cuter. :D
Too cute..🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

AWWWWW she was patting the baby!!
ReligionIsSophistry No, only humans who dislike zoos and see wild animals in cages, with very noisy spectators!
I love the waterfall. Otter pup and mom are just adorable! I wish I were able to see otters in person.
Look how sweet momma is to her pup.

ZooOtaku yes!! It looked like she was covering baby's ear!!!
Cute how she places her little paw against rock and pushes to float away.
I love Sea Otters! They are so adorable!!!
After the education of watching this video, I have concluded Otters are basically a combination of humans and dogs.
They're Mermaid's dog. (^3^)
Beautiful!
I've only started watching sea otter vids a week ago. It's starting to replace my lifelong love of dogs/puppies...... O_O OMG! Sea otters especially sea otter babies are sooooooooo cute! And they're so smart!
With flippers and cuter faces. 😅💞🤗💖
it is so cool how mom swims close to the window - proudly showing off her baby.
It started raining in the area and that ledge had a cover where rain couldn't soak her baby. She doesn't care about the people. lol. Rewind it back as she looks up at the rain. They are smart. She immediately went under the rock cover. The baby was sleeping and she didn't want it to get wet.
Omg i cant stop saying Awwwww

I just love otters so. My favourite animal. Love them.
She put her baby at the only dry place she can find. Such a loving mother. Her baby was totally relaxed. It didn’t even make a sound the whole time.

Precious mom and pup!
I feel otter-pup-mom love when she puts him on the corner avoid rain.
Sure you can have a sea otter as a pet. As long as you have a sea for it to live in.
😂😂😂😂
Not to mention an insane amount of coin for their seafood buffet every day. We're talking $25,000 minimum for food per year.
