- Pup 719 is the latest rescued otter to find a permanent home at Shedd Aquarium after being rescued by officials at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Rescued at Carmel Beach in Carmel, California, Pup 719 was just 4 weeks old when the Monterey Bay Aquarium Sea Otter Program came to her aid. Now 10 weeks old, the pup is achieving important milestones and under the constant care of Shedd Aquarium animal care experts.

To the seven people who disliked this video: HOW?!
Because they have no taste and are seriously disgusting people. You'd have to be not to love a little thing like that.
Such a cutie 😍😍😍😍😍
What is the otter's name going to be now that it has a home? Thanks
Melanie Shipley this is Ellie!
Veri funny🤗
@3:54 ‘Hey waiter, grab some food for me’
Does it get salt water in Chicago?
I thought you were supposed to wear gear to prevent the pup from thinking your its mother
If the pup is unable to be reintroduced back into the wild, there is no need to hide the human caretaker.
True, but I am assuming that this pup is not going back to the wild? Not sure why...
@@Garland67 It usually happens if there's no surrogate available.
The pup isn’t going back to the wild because when she was found she was 4 weeks. She wasn’t going to learn how to be an otter and survive in the wild, she is just too young.
That would be the greatest marketing tool ever... Start a go fund me and just post videos of baby sea otters. Sit back and watch the millions pour in..
I thought the idea was to eventually put these animals however cute they are back into the wild where they belong and for that it's of the utmost importance not to create any attachment of the animal towards humans. At Monterey Bay Aquarium whenever they handle the pups to feed or otherwise they wear gloves and masks to avoid human imprinting. So yes, they're cute but not really doing them any favours by creating bonds with them. That's my opinion anyway.
Linda, we appreciate your concern! Ellie actually came to us through a partnership with Monterey Bay Aquarium. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service determined she wouldn't be able to return to the wild, and so she found a lifetime home at Shedd!
Ok, thanks for the info. Is it possible to know why this little pup can't return to the wild? Keep up the good work.
This is a federally protected species, so that decision is made by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Typically pups that are very young when they are brought in for rescues are unable to survive on their own in the wild.
Linda, have you seen Saving Otter 501? Very informative and they could your financial support.
I would work here for free!!!
We always welcome new volunteers to Shedd! Take a look if you're interested: www.sheddaquarium.org/About-Us/Jobs-Internships-and-Volunteering/Volunteer-Listings/

It should be released back INTO THE WILD. NOT LIVE IN AN AQUARIUM 😢😢😢
真舒服
I love it when this boy otter pup gets fed by a bottle.
Pup 719 😍😍😍
So instead of a happy ending of being reintroduced to the wild and released back to monterey bay the pup was sent to a aquarium to be stuck there for life!, some rescue because the title should say "Sea otter pup snatched from the beach in monterey and pawned to an aquarium in Chicago!, you people should be ashamed of yourselves for not keeping our sea otter pups here where they belong.
In Ellie's case, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service determined she wouldn't be able to return to the wild and survive. Instead, she found a lifetime home at Shedd!
I shake my head every time I see people say this crap despite not knowing anything about the creature. Sometimes being reintroduced into the wild is not a happy ending, sometimes giving them a new life even if it is by human hands can be good; they grow dependent, but that's why these sort of services exist - so they can live and be taken care of while having another chance at life.
There are three choices after a rescue, let nature takes it's course, put the pup into intensive and expensive rehab or send it to a place like Shedd who can care for it for the rest of it's life. Sheesh
Shut.to.the.up. And go away, too.
