The Most Brutal Beast of German Warfare

- After over 40 years, Germany is finally bringing more firepower to its tanks program.
In 2022, Rheinmetall Defense unveiled its bold new creation: the Kettenfahrzeug 51, a lightweight tank expected to set new standards in lethality, survivability, and mobility.
Also known as the Panther, the main battle tank is bristling with all the most up-to-date technology in the market, including a much larger main gun, a digital computer backbone, and a state-of-the-art suite of defensive features.
After stunning more than one at a military hardware show in Europe's Eurosatory defense exhibit, the tank prompted much speculation and controversy, leaving many to wonder if it will replace Germany's current tank arsenal, if it will be used only for exports, or even if such a tank is needed at all in today’s world… - Наука
Germans really do know how to make nice looking tanks
Well, it’s about killing, you know.

Yes...but thats about it...atleast nowherdays
Those modern tanks from FR Germany look like every normal modern tank from the West. Maybe it’s just overrated by Wehraboos.
Was a driver of the Leopard2 in the late 80ies in the german army. The fastest one we had made (without the turret, which, if I rmember correctly, weighs about 15tons) 109kmh ~ 67mph on a straight road. The maintenance guys could swap an engine in about 10 minutes, I kid you not

The Germans are so efficient
All the people who said tank warfare is dead after Ukraine destroyed so many Russian tanks with portable anti-tank missiles. If tank warfare is dead why is Ukraine asking for tanks?
they way the russians uses their tanks was already obsolete when guderian published his theories! that's the reason why their tanks fail in ukraine!
Well to be fair it's lighter armour and drones so it's definitely changed the game
Well, the tanks that are being destroyed in the Ukraine are 30 + years old, designed when such missiles did not even exist.
The Russian commanders use a somewhat outdated doctrine, or simply throw the vehicles in the field.
More tanks are being destroyed by artillery and mines than by guided missiles.

I love that they call it the "Panther".
"Panther", nicht "Pather" 😃
Guess, it's just a typo.

@@iche9373 Jepp. Leopard, Marder... all taken from the Wehrmacht name-legacy.
ah yes another Panther tank, german really really love their cats
Just something to add here: The first country showing interest in the new Panther is Ukraine.
Rheinmetall is in talks with Kyiv about building a tank factory in Ukraine, after Kyiv showed big interest in Rheinmetall's new MBT.
And not only is Ukraine interested in the new Panther, but in the Lynx as well. German & Ukrainian media reported this a while ago already.
Furthermore: "The armaments group Rheinmetall is negotiating the construction of a tank factory on Ukrainian soil. "A Rheinmetall plant can be built in Ukraine for around 200 million euros," company boss Armin Papperger told the Rheinische Post newspaper. It could produce up to 400 Panther-type main battle tanks annually. The talks with the Ukrainian government are »promising«. Papperger hoped for a decision "within the next two months." "
Should I add that Rheinmetall also stated that the factory's defence against Russian attacks via rocket and drone strikes would not be that big of a problem?
Considering that the Mantis AA system is also produced by Rheinmetall it shouldn't come as a surprise, now, does it?
Sounds like a lot of propaganda… I doubt any major company will get a lot out of dumping more money on a losing, corrupt husk of a country
War is a racket
Russia will destroy the factory before a single part has been unboxed 😂😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉🔥🔥🔥
♥️♥️♥️🇷🇺♥️♥️♥️
Stupid to even think of such an endeavour. Do these Nato Nazis really think the Russians will stand idle ,while Ukraine builds tanks to kill Russians?! They must be out of their minds (which they definitely are) to think of such a stupid idea... Germany needs to wake up and leave Nato, but then again it too late for that, their economy has sunk already. All the EU nations supporting sanctions against Russia, will ultimately be turned into third world countries...it's already happening. Total deindustrialization!! They deserve everything they get for being complicit in the attempt to destroy the Russian Federation. Hope it hurts!
Get some and more! Your punishment for greed!
I’ve always thought Rheinmetall is a really badass name for a defense heavy industry company. As in make it “rain metal” over your enemies 😬
The word “Rhein” is a river in Germany. As a German I always think of the word “rein” instead of “Rhein” which means pure thinking of pure metal
Being a French word, it's pronounced "cha-see"
It's been bugging me for a while. The rest of the video and Info is very professional, and I appreciate the effort and research you do for us all.
Even in Germany we pronounce it like you (Chassis), for it is a French word.
Thought I was gonna go crazy. It makes ya wonder…
Makes you wonder if it's text-to-speech. I feel like nobody pronounces it the way it was in the video.

I posted several times that a tank needs these features to make it future-proof and superior without knowing this tank even existed. People said that it could not be made, too expensive, that I was crazy etc.... and yet here it is.
If something like "future-proof" exists in case of military or technology.
I have a similar story to tell.
I have often said in discussions about "autoloader vs human loader" in the last 3 decades that if they ever introduce a autoloader to the Leopard 2 or the Abrams, they should still keep the 4th crew man, because having that 4th crew man has many benefits besides the need for a loader. My position has always been that reducing the number of crewman would overall mean a weakening of the tank weapon and tank units.
So when I heard that the KF51 will get a autoloader but will still retain a place for a 4th crewman, I was pleasantly surprised.
@@Mantek430 the word future-proof means that for at least the next 20 to 30 years it will remain relevant in near-peer conflicts or at this time exceed the capabilities of most other vehicles or simply be superior
@@Mantek430 lol obviously it does. if that wasnt the case we would need a new invention every single day. with no pause
what i loved the most is the 4th spot for an additional crew member - for example a drone pilot - this is AWSOME !
The KF51 eats a T14 for breakfast 😊
love all the " Dark" channels... Thanks from Nova Scotia....
*Four* mentions of the word chassisss?! We've been blessed. I love how a whole bunch of new viewers are correcting the pronunciation, as if they ever read these comments. If you're new to this channel, he *always* says chassis this way, and every time a number of people comment on it and all get ignored. I don't see anyone talking about the "le clerk" French tank (for Leclerc), but it's the same thing. It's become a meme at this point.
i think the narrator is doing it just to trick people into making comments so that it helps the algorithm i would say that no one can be that fucking stupid but in todays world i am confronted with new levels of stupidity almost daily
It doesn't make it any less wrong the more he does it. I am American, I have lived in New York, Florida, Georgia, Arkansas, Pennsylvania, and California I have never heard anyone say "Chassis" I'd love to see his take on ballet.
Great program, well presented.
It's not a question of whether or not if these tanks are needed now, the question is what will Russia and China be like in the near future. As of now Russia is the reincarnation of Nazi Germany and China definitely isn't a friendly peace loving nation either. The only way for NATO to counter future Russian qnd Chinese hostilities is by being one step ahead of them when it comes to military technology. This tank would definitely be more advanced than anything those two countries would be developing and that's the reason why we need this tank.
This style of tank w/battlefield control emphasized is the future
Finally we're getting the cyberpunk vehicles we were promised. That thing looks so cool!
So cool! Love your channel . FYI the last S in chassis is silent
Enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
This tank sounds like straight out from C&C Generals that you can call the drones in it
2x drones ($5,000) attacking at the same time will defeat ANY tank, including this one. Tanks are a relic of a different era of warfare, with Javelins and Drones taking over the modern battlefield. Its a beautiful horse & buggy in the automobile era...
It will be expensive.
But in comparison to being owned by a Russian fascist regime, it will be ridiculously cheap. We thought war is over in Europe. We have been sorely reminded that we were wrong.
Tanks are definitely still needed - the war in Ukraine has shown that.
This is a great tank! I do hope though that as well as the electronic bells-and-whistles, it has *manual* controls so that it can still operate if the electronics get knocked out. That's my only reservation about such high-tech weapons.
3000 dead tanks say they may have become too vulnerable to warrant their price tags. we'll see if the upcoming Ukrainian offensive changes that picture or reinforces it.
@@tellyboy17 Reports of the end of tanks have been greatly exaggerated.
Some tasks are only suitable for tanks on short notice. With support on its flanks, an MBT is very difficult to slow, let alone stop. Counter-drone measures will limit the effectiveness of drones against high value assets such as the Panther ll
Indeed, hell, use an MBT-Undercarriage and put a modern AA-Gun (yes: Gun! Drone-Swarms are best defeated by guns), radar and a couple of SAMs (short range) on it to give Tank-Battalions air-cover and maybe even the option to intercept incoming missiles like a CIWS does on a ship!
@@dreamingflurry2729 Dont need an MBT hull for AA work. Simple APC works. AA is not supposed to be in the front where it can be shot by enemy direct fire weapons
@@dreamingflurry2729 I was a vulcaneer 16R for 8 years and a SHORAD instructor at Ft Bliss. It takes guns and missiles mix to be effective.I've shot down 10 remote pioleted jets (F4s, F86s UH1s NOE,A7s F8s) in my army career, most all of them testing ADATS, look it up.

@@MrEshah They are. They have datalinks so anything you see and designate/mark with it, any other KF51 and other vehicles linked, can see. This thing can basically wallhack.
Pretty new but still based on old Leo2 platform.
I’m really excited what the total new project will be that is currently developed by France and Germany together.
Maybe something total new. Something totally unexpected. One or 2 men crew? Lighter.. let’s see.
I’m sure it will not be an behemoth around 100 tons, neither something the size and proportions of the current MBT's.
the leo2 chassis is placeholder until the Panther chassis is ready
Greetings . A good topic for speculation .
1º The MBTs of the future will probably continue to have 3 or 4 crew members so as not to overload their occupants with tasks , not to mention performing maintenance and repairs in situ that require " muscle " change a chain .
2nd As for the weight thanks to new materials and APS we will see weight reductions but it will depend on whether it is a 1st line MBT or a light MBT for expeditionary units.
Surely we will see families of vehicles: heavy, medium, light and amphibious. All new in the next decades.
The MGCS is mostly one thing: a huge money trap!
@@arbelico2
My speculation is that the tank of the future will feature no crew at all. That might even be more true for fighter jets.
Immobilized tanks might be recovered by special vehicles which might be crew-less as well.
Getting rid of the humans will safe a lot of weight (not the soldiers themselves but their life support and the instruments) and result in less height.
The tank no longer needs to be safe against radiation, biologic or chemical hazards.
Heavy armor will be found only on expensive systems.
@@fendrinblah4100 Actually we already have the UGVs that in a few decades will be autonomous thanks to AI. Replacing MBTs and IFVs is difficult as they are a protective and multiplying "tool" for the human element is still irreplaceable. Greetings .
What's transformative here is the drone operator position coupled with the speed and all terrain nature of the platform.
The logical extension of these capabilities is to lose the turret and shift the vehicle to an armored self propelled artillery system, without losing speed or all-terrain capability. The mass-savings of losing the turret would be made up with a longer range gun, and an expanded drone bay capable of launching multiple drones and landing them. The result would be a hyper agile artillery system
that carries along its own artilery spotters in the form of drones dynamically launched and retrieved in situ. It wouldn't need the turret because it would be designed to operated at longer ranges from the enemy in a chaotic battlefield without fixed lines. The mission profile would be a mechanized-cavalry-gun that can sprint behind enemy positions to engage their rear supply areas at range and then retreat faster than any responses. If it did find itself in close quarter combat with enemy forces it would rely upon the heavier machine gun and smart munitions, analogous to the switchblade drone, launched from the main gun that could target opponents despite the fact that they were not launched in the correct direction from the turret-less gun.
I so want to see this produced.
That’s the best prototype tank design looks bad ass advance safest
it looks bad ass. these things will be necessary at some point. one thing is for sure: humans will never stop fighting each other.
Folks get the percentages wrong when they think about kinetic energy and rounds between cannon upgrades.
The difference in power between 120 and 130 mm isn't 08% it's 50%. That gun is a beast.
I think the Main factor are range and the ability to fire larger smart rounds in the future. Imagine a small version of the Excalibur or something similar. The tanks drone spotting a target 5-10 km away and firing a guided shell to eliminate the target.
does not matter if you are shooting darts like practically all modern tanks full bore rounds are obsolete unless its something like he heat or hesh and then its more about the filler than the diameter of the round
@@thorwaldjohanson2526 you need to have the elevation to utilize rounds like that regular mbts dont have high elevation they dont have the room inside for the breech to move that much only self propelled guns do its more likely so that they can fire atgms from the main gun and not need a separate launcher
Look up MRM-CE and MRM-KE.
You'd be dead wrong.
Longer and faster rounds are vital for penetration.
Thanks for another great vid, bro! Maybe you should give some thought to how you pronounce CHASSIS. It should end with an E Sound. Like Chass-ee. The "s" is silent on the end of the word. Thanks again for all your hard work!

7:19 You can't sell from an empty shelf. Makes sense they would develop this for export, or as a contender/technology demonstrator for the Franco-German joint tank project.
That turret has a HUGE gaping shelf wherein any explosive can rip the turret off and send it sky high.

310 mile range? I'll take it! That will get me into Canada with no one along the way able to stop me!
Poland already bought Panther... K2 Black Panther :D
Poland get every year 12,9 billion euros from Germany. Without that money, they even had had an army! 😂
My only problem is that space between the gun turret and chassis looks like if it gets hit the turret will pop right off
Nearly every modern tank has this "space" - I saw a very detailled report about it wich explained that it is a necessarity and isnt at all a weak point, as the potential incoming projectiles will be forced to be in a tumbling state to reach it, when hitting it the tumbling projectile will be deflected so that it Hit the armor benath from a ventral Position, causing no harm.
The "popping" of old soviet tanks also isnt caused by that space but - If I remember correctly - by the bad positioning of the ammunition of the tank.
its Chasee,Not chasis...
And unlike the T-14 Armata it actually exists as it is showed :D
german spirit: do nothing for decades and then do it without compromise.
It was not ordered by the German Government. They developed it on their own.
Send a few of these to Ukraine and watch them maximize its potential in the battlefield.
This like a bonecrusher of Russian Armory
The sources I can find indicate that the weight of the Abrams Ser 3 quited absoluteli includes the tanks cannon. Addition of Trophy ADS woukld add 2.5 U.S. tons. That is for the planned future. What source supports your claims that the current Sep 3 is 73.6 U.S. Tons without the tank's cannon? What main systems are actually not included in the 73.6 Ton weight?
Chassis?
ITS MAA’AM!!
The real decision will be how much and how fast - if they and the related systems can be built for under $3M and fast not 6m per, and has wing man systems or even the proposed trailer for first use missile and loiter munitions then it’s a game changer
Why do you say that it's not needed when it clearly is. We here in Finland want at least 200 of those things to replace our older Leopard 2 tanks.

Well, I think we are witnessing how important tanks still are and will be in the future. I like the new "Panthe" and I hope it won't take too long to make it a reliable system. I wonder if Rheinmetall are planning to develop a new "Tiger" as well. They should refrain from building tanks with names of very small animals like "Maus"! 😆
EDIT: "Panther"!!!
I think it needs one modification. The propulsion system should be hybrid battery electric so that the system is more fuel efficient, can operate silently for short distances or startup without infrared signature or noise. The 30mm gun on the XM-1 is a good idea as it gives an anti drone capability.
Maybe they were naming their tanks after small animals as an ironic joke, like a huge guy’s nickname being “Tiny” lol
The 73 tons for the Abrams is short tons = to 67 metric tons. Get your tons right, please
