Great comment. I’ve heard idiots repeat these excuses but lawyers review and negotiate contracts. Joe acting like one wasn’t available or never materialised in his hand is stupid. Everything you said is right. I don’t even see the problem with the album, Joe traded off SH drama regarding Em etc on the pod. He definitely didn’t get permission. They kept patronising and ignoring Crook with the deal/s that Royce and Joe clearly felt they are too good for. Crook felt strung along because he was. Joe can only rap about being in his feelings because he is a selfish person, what would this Joe have to say that is authentic now he is sober and woke? I’m not sure he has that sort of talent or introspection and imagine deep down he knows that.

Yeah, Stevie doesn't really have to watch the live with Royce because it is pretty much exactly like this. Royce and Joe spending over an hour talking about "do what you gotta do" but then turning around and throwing subtle jabs at Joell and Crook then saying "I have no issue with either of them". You can tell Joe really rubbed off on Royce and not in a good way either. At one point Joe says under his breath, "these mf's better be glad I ain't rapping.." this is what Joe has been doing with SH this whole time. Dangling it above everyone's head, giving them hope he is actually gonna do it, but then he turns around and gives the other two members a completely different response than what he told Royce.

The reason Joe contradicts himself is because he's not being genuine any other time than when he's being a primadonna, he can't help be defensive because the album makes him look bad. The reason Royce is on his side is because getting painted as being avoidant makes him look disloyal to the whole group, so he's gotta double down on his loyalty to Joe as if he's the bigger man. Meanwhile, they gaslight Joell and Crook as lying by arguing semantics.
I was on Joell and Crook side until they released "Backstage" (which makes it sound like the whole album is a diss album) and then when Joell started stammering, seemed confused as to whether the terms of the deal ever made it to paper. Crook's side of it on IG turns it into a huge he said-they said confusion, so there's definitely bad communication and lies by omission happening as opposed to direct lies. The whole thing is a train wreck but I'm fine with Joell and Crook moving forward and if they choose to address the issues, that's their prerogative.

Those two vids gives really good picture that Joe said no to the contract without saying no. Joe didn't call Crook who had the info on the deal Joe "wanted" to know. He did have time to call Joell that he will call Crook and said to Royce he will call to Crook in an hour because he wanted more info and he didn't call at all for Crook to know that or anything. And Royce and Joe twisting the narrative that Joe didn't say no to the deal.

After watching the instagram live it just seems to be communication issues. Also people seeing things differently. They all agreed that the shady deal was bad, Ortiz specifically said horrible. Joe he didn't want to rap on that label anymore. They worked hard to get off the label and have been off for about a year according to them. So I don't think anyone was lying or not telling truth but sometimes ppl translate things differently. And that is why communication is key. I totally understand both sides of the coin though.

Not recognizing someone saying something about you only works when the people saying those things aren’t on the same level as you. If it’s someone on the same level, no response only gives more credence to the stuff they’re saying. So, that argument is out the window in this situation. They are right that he can ignore it, and keep growing in his own endeavors (professionally). If he can actually grow. The problem is, he’s not growing. He makes a living off talking shit. Ignoring the shit coming back at him will probably hurt him, and stop his growth. Plus, personally (not professionally), he won’t grow if he’s not 1) coming out on top, or 2) squashing it. Obviously, personally, he’s never going to grow.
