Still so beautiful! For me the one and only Romeo and Juliette ever. They make you feel every nuance of it, and that is what makes the difference. And also Egon Madsen as Mercutio!
Auf Schatzsuche hier gelandet. Komme gerade aus dem Kino - "Cranko". Zweimal innerhalb dreier Tage. Großartig, eine vollständige Fassung vorzufinden. Danke!
Plaise à Dieu qu'ils retrouvent cet art !
Wonderful ! Marcia Hardée and Richard Cragun are remarkably convincing. The dancer who plays Mercutio is also excellent. The acting is as spectacular as the entire production. Thank you for this gem.
@@stephaniemyhill8539 A Masterpiece is Immortal , when j listen Frédéric Chopin j don't know if it's or not edided after or before his death : La Fantaisie Impromptu his " op posthum " and then ??? what more ???
alain Spiteri I have no idea what you’re talking about. All I asked if it was before or after Cranko’s passing as I know how much the dancers were affected by the loss. If it was after his passing, then I’m astonished by the pure commitment and strength that I see by these amazing dancers. I have a feeling that my prior statement was met by a lot of aggression. It was a very innocent question to an interesting notion
@@stephaniemyhill8539 you wrote do you remember at all , j did't not understood what that mean ? and j replied to you . Yes fan of Music-Dance j remember at all . J repeat : it's more difficult to remember the year of a movie than a musician or à dancer on stage : it's seems 1965-1970 because j saw also " sleeping-beauty movie " with Fonteyn-Noureev in same years 1965-1970 , what do you say more ? are you a fan of Music and fan of ballet ? When we like a composer , a choreographer , when we are a musician , we play a masterpiece without know year of created it ! Except if they are more : a friend or someone from his family . Did j answer you ?
alain Spiteri I think you’ve misunderstood what I said. It doesn’t matter. I love this piece more than anything and that’s all that matters. So happy to see it on RUclips.
Just found it, and I thank you from my heart! I recorded this version from german television on VHS, and the tape cannot be played anymore - you made me happy!
She never smiles. She never makes eye contact with him. This is my favourite version of the ballet, but I will never understand why this ballerina was Cranko's muse.
To me, it seems that she does look at him. Even at long distances. First of all, she is forced to hide her interest. Second, when love is really serious you maybe don't smile. Their love is not allowed and dangerous and they know it from the beginning.
Juliet and Paris match rather well as she has practically no chin and he has a huge one (fascietious but true). Prefer Macmillan version but the acting is excellent
I don't understand why you speak of Paris. Romeo and Juliet has nothing to do with it. Drama is played in Verona. Did you read the novel by Shakespeare? Cranko's choreography corresponds exactly to the author's dramaturgy. MacMillan's version is very brilliant as a ballet but far from essential.

Marcia Haydee and Richard Cragun 🤩

Mercutio is interpreted by Egon Madsen
So happy to find this - takes me straight back to the Stuttgart Ballet when I used to live there in the early 70's. This cast is fantastic!
This is wonderful. I love the pas de deux - so passionate.
86 likes is really embarrasing, this is really ballet history, and therefore brilliant, saw them in new york in my youth, returned today and marvelled
If only this and similar treasures were released (even without restoration) on DVD instead of the regietheater opera and ballet productions . . .
Thank you so much for posting. I remember seeing it in 1973 and this film has reminded me why I thought Marcia and Richard were so amazing in it.
I've always wondered if this performance was before or after Cranko's passing. Do you remember at all?

A Julieta mais apaixonante de todas. Vi em toulouse, vi no Rio. Dvd, por favor.
Thank you so much for posting this most beautiful ballet in this legendary cast!!! (Why don't they release it on DVD?)
There is coming a new one with Friedemann Vogel und Alicia Amatriain.
Frederik Bear : it's not Marcia and Richard . .
Please, you have Onegin with Marcia Haydee? Please, share with us!!!
No, is there anything at all? I've just seen Onegin in Teatro alla Scala. It was wonderful.
I have Onegin with Marcia. But I don't know how to post
Well, you have Onegin in which video format? avi, DVD, mp4?
DVD
Well... the DVD format consists of several files. Can you upload to onedrive? I really want a copy of this DVD ... What other titles do you have?
❤
Saw them in St. Louis in early 70s
Or late 60s
Mark, it was 1971. Saw them, too. Started my love of ballet.@@markbrueggeman8985

Smiles and eye contact doesn't mean acting at all, it's very obvious and corny. You can make expressions or emotions even without look each other.

@@Legend-mx9jt She means not the City Paris ^^ Paris is the Name of the other guy Juliet had to marry
After your chin comment the rest of what you wrote lost all its value!
