  • With the arrival of the new oil inner rotor, we're jumping back into assembling the BMW R90/6 motor - continuing from where we left off in the last BMW assembly video.
First up, the oil pump gets assembled followed by installing the rear main seal and the flywheel. That lets us finish up the install of the timing chain followed by the oil pickup, oil pan and the timing cover. At that point we can drop the engine into the freshly powdercoated frame!
Next the new 1000cc Seibenrock power kit is unboxed and the wrist pin clip and rings are installed on the new piston. The pistons are partially inserted into the cylinders, then the connecting rods get new bearings and are bolted to the crankshaft. And then the grand finale:
The cylinders are slid onto the head studs, the wrist pin connects the con rods to the piston and the assembly is topped off with freshly rebuilt heads and rockers.
There's plently more to be put on this bike, including a ton of motor accessories, so if you like what you see make sure to subscribe so you can follow along!

I really appreciate these videos... I'm rebuilding my very first engine out of a '79 R100. Or as I call it, an expensive learning experience 😐

you are using two different types valves rocker arms why?

ah, good eye. I am using the same arms in both heads, but tried a few different sets first. The first set you see, with the plastic bush, are the 85+ style and are the only ones still available new. I quickly figured out they wouldn't work for several reasons and eventually picked up the 76-84 style which live on the bike now

I'm not so sure about the older models pre-70 but this page has some good information about what rockers work with which heads from 1970 up largiader.com/tech/rockers/ The pedestals the rocker arm blocks bolt to is the big thing to look for here.
