  • a trip to the king ranch with my daughter Natalie for the annual king ranch ranch hand breakfast in kingsville texas. The ranch hand cowboy breakfast cooked and served outdoors on the historic 825,000 acre King Ranch founded in 1853. Team roping and camp cooking demonstrations are a part of the activities, including live music and storytelling. It's the only time of the year visitors can drive their vehicles onto the ranch.

    It can’t get any more American than this 🇺🇸

      Yes, but most of these traditions originated on the soil you're currently standing on brought over by my ancestors long before there was a "Texas". In my next video you'll catch a glimpse of a polvorón or as we call them, Pan De Polvo. its a shortbread cookie traditionally eaten around the holidays and special occasions such as weddings.

      @clot shotsyea I know, knew for a long time that north Mexico to the southwest US have the same culture but people have that mentality and think that cowboy and ranching is “country” but it’s not “country” its Mexican/tejano culture

    I lived in Falfurrias for a couple of years, my sister was born there in 1960. Man alive thats country rite there. I remember huge tumble weeds, devil horns, road runners, scorpions centipedes, rattlers as big around as a human leg, cattle bones everywhere, and javelina, and playing around with old spring loaded traps that were always ready to eat children fingers ! When Kruchev took off his shoe and pounded the podium of the UN, and said "We will bury you !" I wasn't worried because I knew I was in the perfect hiding place ! Good video, looks like you brought back some old memories LOL !

    Interesting. Have always wanted to visit the King Ranch! That's where our stallion's sire is from. But, I'm getting too long in the tooth to stand up that long! More interested in the daily workings of the ranch than the breakfast. :)

    • @thephilweknow3289
      @thephilweknow3289  2 года назад +3

      There are many daily tour options which require no walking (air conditioned motor coaches i believe). The public breakfast occurs only one day a year and allows visitors to drive onto the ranch which is not normally allowed. Thanks for watching!

    Loving this window into American ranching history in these small ranches, our cattle stations (ranches) don't get a mention over here until the are over 1 million acres and we have many that are 8 times that in size. Our largest rancher is a woman mining magnate and her total ranch holdings are 23 million acres or 25 times bigger than King Ranch, running 100,000 head. You can buy the lot if you have a lazy $300m AUD sitting around.
