So, be careful when people tell you today the nazis was complete incompetent and the war lost from the start. It was far from that. Its more like they had a real chance but their incompetence lost it at some point. As someone from europe you should have in mind that as a side effect the win of the oil fields for germany had brought the nuke over europe. They was build and planed for exactly that szenario. A little detail in history we should be thankful for.

Honestly, if Comintern and Allies hadn't fought eachother in Germany and the Benelux countries, it would be hard to say if they would've won or just stayed in the game longer. I’m starting to respect the Italian AI more and more in this patch first they don’t fail in North Africa and then they made a pretty smart offensive through turkey into Russia for once I think Italy was a pretty key reason that Germany won the war
*spoiler* That was the most unexpected comeback I've ever seen in HoI4. 3 minutes in I said Axis was going to fall, and it was falling just as I expected, then I blinked my eye and Soviet Union was dead.
I guess they made a defense line and made the Soviets deplete their numbers as the Germans got reinforcements. As well as the second frontline Italy made in Turkey.
@@thorshammer7883 yep, the Soviets lost most of their tanks and the axis crushed both allies and comitern in planes. Soviet had 17 000 tanks and when the axis turned it around they only had like 3 000
So, because the comintern was at war with the allies due to Turkey joining them, I think that probably resulted in the Axis victory in the end. As we can see at one point the comintern and Allies together had basically most of the northern european regions including most of france, however because they were at war they didn't put their full resources against the Axis which allowed them to hold on, hold on so long in fact that the italians got enough war experience to become competent, resulting in a counter-attack in the caucasus depriving the soviets of their biggest source of oil, which happened just after the soviets and Axis together pushed D-Day out of Europe, resulting the axis being able to fully focus on the soviet union which couldn't use planes nor tanks or vehicles of any kind really anymore (and were possibly also down on equipment seeing as they were easily the weakest of the 3 factions here in terms of industry, never breaching 1000), which after it was all done allowed the axis to focus on Operation Sealion once Russia was effectively under their control... So basically all you need to do as the Axis to win ww2 is make it last so horrendously long and be so bloody the italians actually become competent

It's a shame the AI doesn't push in the caucasus even if there is a direct front. It would almost completely negate the giant Comintern armour forces. But there is only Italy present anyways.
