- After a week in Tokyo following the 2022 Japanese GP at the Suzuka F1 circuit, it was time to head off to LAX airport ahead of the 2022 Austin GP - although this flight is a little bit different to most flights I take because it was on an airline I'd never heard of before - Zip Air! Going in to this flight I didn't expect much Jal's budget carrier Zip, but it's safe to say I was pleasantly surprised by Zipair's business class. Now you can't really call my seat a business class seat because it's not typical business class service, in fact the airline is actually an all economy airline that offer a selection of upgrades, such as a nicer seat and meals. I saw this service as a great way to test out all the Japanese Airline had to offer, so I bought all the meals on Zipair!

I've seen almost all of Kym's videos and love them but only till now I discovered Kym has a hearty appetite to polish off 7 airline meals in one go! LOL.....well done, that alone deserves a like.
Hi Kym, what was the air hostess' reaction when you asked for 7 different meals? I find it hilarious that they gave you a water to go with each one!

Probably someone who comes across as very pretentious. Not to mention mediocre photos. I may actually unsubscribe because these videos are a frustration rather than anything.
I know doing what you do isn't easy. It's exhausting, takes a toll on your health and can be incredibly frustrating. However! We appreciate your continued effort and going above and beyond to capture your travels. You are appreciated!

Zip air prices have sadly gone up . A one way economy ticket from Tokyo to Los Angeles, is $460 without extras .

Nice review and thank you for sharing with us! I’m planning to go from LA to Tokyo in May and just found out about this airline. I’m kind of nervous to purchase the ticket (business-flat ). Did you have any delay issues ? I know it is good deal to flight on flat seat because like you said will cost 4 to 5 times more to book from another airline just for some drinks / meal etc…

This is great to hear, I can't afford business class but with this airline I think I can and this review was awesome also I usually go this route on my way to the Philippines so I can get off plane and stretch on 11 hours instead of 14 to 15 straight thru and yes 3 or 4 hours less to stretch and move before connecting flight is a plus for me and my legs swelling, im going to look now ,🤞I find something
I literally just booked AirAsia on the day ZipAir announced they'd be opening Manila-Tokyo flights. Will give them a try another time!

@@KymIllman Thanks! I'll have to give that airline a go. It seems like good value to me, even in business class. Just make your own business class. I do so when I take the bullet trains in Japan, even down to bringing my own wine glass and plates. Thanks!
Im considering buying an airplane ticket with zip but the check in baggage option is so confusing...what if my check in luggage is not 23kg but larger?? Am i better off leaving the option alone and them charging me upfront???
Flew with zipair recently, and they were great! Great food and decent seats, and even had a power outlet in economy, which is a plus for sure. The presence of free inflight WiFi just makes it so much more convenient to access the internet in the plane, whether it is for work related purposes or just for entertainment. One thing I'm curious about though, how well was the WiFi for you? It was pretty great for me, definitely not enough to play any multiplayer online games, especially shooters or anything that's fast paced, but it served me well on RUclips and Google Chrome, for example. My flight was relatively close to land though, and I assume your flight was directly in the middle of the ocean, so I wonder if the WiFi connection was poorer for you(or, maybe my understanding of how WiFi works is poor😅).

Hi I booked a flight and chose the 23kg Baggage option. For mine, it didn’t specify if it’s hand-carry/check-in baggage. May i know does it mean that the total weight of all baggage (irregardless hand-carry or check-in) can be up to 23kg? Also, is there a limit to the number of luggage that i can bring even if i don’t exceed the weight limit? Thanks a lot and look forward to ur reply 😊

I know they are a “budget” airline owned by JAL. We haves used both ANA and JAL and Like their airlines and customer service.
I know with Zip- you pay for what you want. I know full well what I’m getting into if I use them.
my husband’s concern is …HOW is their Customer Service?
We have had experience with “budget” airlines in the past. You either get bad customer service AND /Or rude cheap/loud passengers.
What info can I share with my Very hesitant husband?
When does it show the flight times? I got to fill in your name and still no time listed?
I notice you only sleep for around 5 hours on a plane most times, do you choose to do that or do you just naturally wake up? Love the videos!

Hi Kym. Pleeeease never mix beef with seafood at the same time up in the air (in ground level it is different) ...the taste of seafood will always loose...this is why the shrimps tasted like hell to you. As usual huuuuge hugs from Colombia

Ate all the good stuff, left most of the rice and the sushi was ordinary.
I am happy I am not the only one who experienced the anal Zip Air check in staff. On the contrary, in LA, they don't give a toss about your papers or anything. It's like a normal check in. Yet, at Narita, you need a little bit of everything.
Ask Michael Italiano advice for jet lag.... 😉
