- I did a video on this firearm a while back and i wasn't happy with it. I focused on the reliability and left a lot out. i hope you guys enjoyed. One of the screws on the grip got stripped out. I still haven't replaced it.

I know there is a grip screw missing and loading a round directly into the chamber has show no wear on the extractor. It is a cheaper part to replace. If i was carrying the firearm i would load it like this every time i carried it. If you load from the magazine every time the bullet would begin to be pushed into the casing.

I believe the 92 was designed to be loaded by putting a round directly into the chamber as well.
Good point. But I cycle through the rounds so I dont have one more damaged than the others. To each their own.

I can say after many decades of owning some of the best quality handguns on the market, the M9 has not been surpassed in reliability, accuracy, maintainability n quality... my perfect handgun
I'd take the CZ 75 SP01 all day long over the M9.

@@jgbecker24That’s funny because I have both the SP01 and a 92fs. The SP01 is a very accurate and reliable handgun however is still in the shadow of the 92fs in accuracy. My 50 yard test always put the SP01 an inch larger than the 92fs in group size.
I haven’t shot the CZ enough to compare long term reliability.

I have a 92S. If I had to get rid of all my guns and only keep 1, this would be it.
I've Mastered the Beretta 92F and 92FS, unfortunately my 92 FS has an M9 rear sight on it and I'd prefer the 3-Dot like my 92F has. It's not for everyone, but for me... I Love the Safety De-Cocker, The weight which saps up any Recoil, it's simple disassembly, and overall good looks just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside like my Scarface Blankie (Yes, My mother got me a fuzzy blanket with Tony Montana in it and it's my favorite blanket 🤗)
This is all that you say it is as I have used them for over 25 years and have never been disappointed. One of mine had 17K+ rounds through it and was still as accurate as can be. Very durable and reliable pistol.

The Sig P320 failed to match the reliability of the M9. The M9's average mean rounds between failures may never be beaten. However that was not a requirement for the M17 contract trials. The only requirement was to be a "switch caliber platform" and beat the other competitors allowed in the competition and have a lower price. Price is the tie breaker. The M9 and M9A3 were not even allowed to compete. The M9 beat it's predecessor, the 1911A1, in reliability. Why was the M17 choice not required to do the same and beat the M9? Why step backwards? Why adopt a pistol just for convenience and not make the new pistol beat the old one?

I'm not sure why they want a modular platform to be honest. I'm a 91F, and we had a total of maybe 5-6 M9s in our arms room. CO, XO, and 1SG got one, and then a couple medics, but that's it. Everyone else had an M4 or M249. Along with that, they were hardly used, and there's no way the Army is going to give every M17 a tac light or anything to go with it. In my opinion, the rails are nice to have, but really unnecessary.
Yea The Sig P320 has a light primer strike malfunction issue!

P320 adoption is kinda weird for me, it's frame is weaker than the glock (but replacing it is easy though), it's famous for having drop safety issues, the bore axis is high (slower follow up shot). The best option seems to be the M9A3 (easier transition) but glock is still better compared to the sig too.

The M9 is one great firearm. I have a 96A1 (.40S&W) and not one issue with anything even when it's dirty from shooting. The safety features are awesome as well. It's a bit big for a carry, but can be done. Smooth action, easy care, good trigger out of the box. If the sights were adjustable for elevation, that would be a huge improvement. Of course, pistols are not meant for long range shooting (50+ yards). It's difficult to find a good holster for this.
This may be a dumb question to ask but since the barrel is exposed dose it stay hot or cool off quicker?

Absolutely the millitary knew what they did when they chose this online it had like 30k rounds with like 5 malfunctions. Excellent handgun for millitary or go to war shtf.
The ending of the video where you had multiple screens and music was epic. Would you get the M9 with the standard 1913 rail and treaded barrel (to be suppressor ready) instead of the regular 92fs.

used the M9 in the military and use the modern italian 92FS to this day (in fact own several) because I like it's updated grip contouring and reinforced frame. I have over 30, 000 on a full size 92FS, other than replacement of springs it runs 100%. M9 or 92FS is a great pistol in whichever model you prefer, maintain it and don't use cheap magazines and they will run and run. really really want to get a M9A3 but I can't really justify the purchase... yet.

Nekia Fontanez do you mean Cleaner, Lubricant, Protection? If so (in my opinion) the Beretta and most pistols do so so with CLP. I think it does ok for a all in one deal and used it on issued firearms because that's what they gave me. I don't use a CLP on my personal firearms. a dedicated lubricant or cleaner typically works better then in all in one. But if your going to use a CLP should work as well on a M9 as a G17. hope that helps.
I've never used CLP on my M9. Instead I use Ballistol, and put a liberal amount of it on key points to improve the smoothness of the slide action. For me, the key points to add a little extra would be the slide cutouts for the frame rails, the frame rails themselves (obviously), the locking block, locking block pin, the rails on the barrel, and the rail cutout inside the frame that the barrel rails ride in.
Been using Ballistol for years and my Beretta has always run without issue.
whatever works. at the range I run the 92's a bit wet. I typically use a Mobile One synthetic motorcycle oil just for lube. at the range I use more oil simply to avoid any unneeded wear and tear. in the field I'm sure any oil with good viscosity and doesn't break down or gum up. obviously in the field I use the smallest amount of lubricant needed to avoid run off and crud collection. but the Berettas are very designed and can run dry if needed

FYI an M9 with a loaded magazine is lighter than an M1911 with no magazine.
Wilson combat has a metal parts kit and Beretta has slim aluminum grips you can also drop in a D hammer spring and really fall in love with your beretta again
Hi there. Great video. Always good to hear from someone who's put high number of rounds trough a gun. One thing though; you have some polymer parts on yours? I got my 92fs in 92' I think. The only non-metal parts on mine are the grips. Why is that you think? Why'd they do that, just to save money or weight? Anyway, I got about 5.000 rounds trough mine, still works like new. I see most 92f(s) got a crack on the left side where the safety lever goes trough the gun into the firing pin, seen from the rear. This is no problem anyway.
The M9a3 is their best model to date. However the M9a4 is a nice pistol, but the trigger isn't as good as I'd have hoped. I believe they have a new trigger in the a4. Reset is kind of spongey, and the trigger weight is heavier than my previously stolen a3. Additionally, the new grip angle and shape is incredible.

We cry about polymer in pistols but not that often in AR platforms. Polymer had been around for decades and has performed wonderfully.

I believe it's a matter of it being the secondary weapon and not primary so they don't seem to care bout the details unless they beat the bottom line . Sig is good but I'm a Beretta fan and think it was definitely a step back . And also have to consider who is lining who's pockets behind the scenes.
I couldn't agree with the Gent any more as I too cherish my M9 and Taurus 92 made in Brazil at the old Beretta Factory (identical pistol absent frame mounted safety). The M9 is just one of those guns that makes me a better shooter than I would be otherwise with virtually every other 9mm--I assume we all have that particular firearm that just fits so well that one's ability to balance, point and fire are exponentially enhanced. I've been enamored with it ever since I first saw one in the PD armory when I was but a kid and Dad a cop, later on in movies such as 'Lethal Weapon' (how apropos) and finally the Military following the JSSAP pistol trials in 1984. The Millennium comes and goes and even now in 2017 when the M9 is up for replacement it remains my single favorite 9mm I've ever had the pleasure of shooting. I'm sure the new 'modular' pistol be it the SIG P320 will be a capable pistol ann perhaps I will purchase one down the road. Yes this M9 has a polymer guide rod. I have a Beretta 92fs Inox that has a steel guide rod. I havent seen any difference in performance between the two

92g for me x2. One is the EDC, owb. 3500 rounds, not a single issue. Wipe down often, clean every 5-600 rounds. Best ever, with a radom p64 as ack up.

IDK if that is a good idea, to let the slide close on a round already chambered? Maybe its better on the extractor to feed it from the mag then top up the mag. I have 1000 rounds on mind and already it is showing (slight) extractor wear, even though I've never close the slide on a round...the .22 conversion kit, also seems a great idea, even at $350 - but I have one and I wish i'd just bought 2000 rounds of 9 mm instead. There's a light strike, failure to fire at least once per 10 round mag. And i'm not the only one with that problem it seems to be built in.

Ryan Simpson How often is it carried on your person? How often do you do presentation drills from the holster? I have a 92fs and a PX4 compact. I carry and train with both. Which one I carry is dependent on the wardrobe of the day. Even with quality lined leather holsters, my two weapons show a fair amount of holster wear. I have exceeded the 10k round count in the 92 and have about 7500 in the Storm. I guess my question is that just a range gun or nightstand gun because of the lack of finish wear?
William Reilly, I think you were intending to reply to iloveshootingstuff. I do carry daily in a holster, and my handgun (same gun for 6.5 years) is showing obvious wear. I have put approx. 5500 rounds through it.
No i never carried it. When i bought it i loved the looks and feel of it and the caliber was cheaper and available. 22lr was scarce so 9mm was the next cheapest thing. so i trained with it. i did holster drills but i did them in a cheap walmart fabric holster.

Jeremiah Wilson One thing you might consider is a lighter hammer spring. I put a #12 in mine combined with the WC trigger bar and it made shooting it sooo much more fun.

i loved this gun so much, i bought toy guns that looked just like it (gave it away to neighbors kids) and even an Italian made blank gun in the 92 pattern (the workmanship was excellent). Finally I started arming up (after I was in the middle of LA riots and did not like what i saw) and for SOME reason bought everything but the 92 i really wanted. Got a Ruger P85, an FEG P9, a Bersa 380, TWO glocks, a 22/45, a Ruger sp101, even a Ruger lc9 (my least favorite gun but selling it makes no sense)...finally I decided to quit mucking about and get the gun i really wanted. Now i am in the waiting period (in caliornia its 10 days) can't wait to try this gun i wanted all my life (and still wondering why i did not get one sooner)
I have had the same experience. I always wanted a P08 Luger but never got one. And a few months ago i got one. it was amazing to have a firearm that i have wanted my whole life. It is a great feeling and i am happy you finally got what you wanted. I hope you have as much fun with yours as i have with mine
oh no, you reminded me of how I always wanted a P38!! I think maybe i need to start selling off some guns but it seems like you always take a bath on the resale-I got $250 on a Ruger mini 14 towards a STAG M4 and that memory of how they basically fisted me, keeps me holding on to the guns I don't like so much

They r easy to replace and i have been doing it for years with no damage. I would reccomend you not to do this if thats a worry

I put the DAO spring kit and metal trigger and main house. Great gun just order those parts and it'll be better.
a few simple after market parts and mods will make the 92fs trigger MUCH better. Real simple too.

I brought one in almost new condition from Sacramento, CA pawn broker in Summer of 1995 for $319.00. I never shot it since there is no range available and too big to carried around. In 2017 I tried it in MO range and it was a nice accurate firearms. I think I left the gun in the tools box for 20 years so it jammed once a while but after cleaning it with Oil there is no issue.

The only thing that looks better than this beautiful piece of work is the 92x performance edition. I have both a m9 and a 92x per. Even did my CCW with my m9.

If you continue to put a round in the tube with slide open, instead of loading it from the mag, it will damage your extractor's claw. When the round feeds from the mag, it comes up from below and forward into the chamber. When the slide hammers forward with a round already in the chamber, the extractor contacts the rim of the round at an angle it was not designed for. It will work for a long time, and then you'll find ejected rounds bouncing back into your forehead.
If you carry a firearm and have to keep unloading and loading it you will begin to push the bullet into the casing. Extractors are not expensive. So when i replace the springs I replace the Extractor.
Angel King Beretta 92's extractor is spring loaded for this very purpose of loading direct into chamber, Military required it in case magazine became damaged or lost in a firefight, to still have a shot. 1911, this is correct extractor is fixed, and will damage/break over time loading direct into chamber. Researched the shit out of this after a buddy's 1911 carry extractor sheared on him.

A couple of things. You are missing the top grip panel screw in the left side and the bottom screw is loose. Never insert a round into the chamber and allow the slide to close on it. Doing this caused the extractor to ride over the round and can break the extractor.Thanks for the video.
I am thinking i need to make a video on this. The extractor has shown no wear and i have done this for years, for me replacing it would be easy. If i was to carry this firearm thats how i would load it. it you unload and reload from the magazine every time you would begin to push the bullet into the casing and it happens pretty quickly. I have done this for years and it has shown no wear.

Surprised that you chamber an round directly when you want to go +1. Why not load mag, rack, remove mag and replace the round? Especially on 1911.

Well my education continues. To go +1 w Beretta you hand insert into the chamber according to the manual. I got a Wilson Beretta 92G last month and that's what it says.
Every 1911 manual I have says to never do this. Load the +1 round via the magazine and top the mag off again.
Yes, this way is more time consuming but doing it the other way puts unnecessary wear on the extractor, normally the extractor slips over the round as it goes in to the chamber at a slight angle. When you have a round in the chamber, there is no sliding, it bumps into the extractor's grip.

at 20 yards i was able to hit a 30-06 cartridge with this handgun. so decently accurate

I have a very early one. I've put easily 30-50K rounds and it looks almost as clean. The trick is not to carry it in a holster. In any case, that's about 10x the number of rounds before others would be saying its time to replace the barrel and/or slide. Still works fine, for a military class weapon. Can't hold a group like my Glock, though. HATE the trigger. Throw is too long and even single action its longer than necessary and doesn't break cleanly.
When I was seriously shooting (and yes, 90% of the rounds were reloads) I'd run 100+ rounds through each of several guns 2-3 times a week. I had the GL17, Sig P226 and the M9. Dumped the Sig, just never fit my hand. Holding the M9 feels like a 2x4. If I'm leary of trouble, I reach for the Glock. Hands down, a better gun, better trigger, and more accurate out of the box. If I'm going to a gun fight, its 1911. Opinions vary, this is mine.

While I like the appearance of the Beretta m9, it beat the p226 in cost, not performance.

The grip isn't that large IMO my gloves size is between large & xl, back in the 1990s when I bought the Beretta92 as my first pistol my mom & sister were able to handle it perfectly fine & we all know women have smaller hands than men.
I like the video, but you have to do something about the sound. I think you need a new mic.
