Lifesaver - thank you. Changing number plate bulb, pressing the unit back in and the housing disappeared inside the bumper - all fixed now and this video was a massive help 🙂
Great clear video. I'm curious how the black plastic section of the bumper connects to the painted section, is it easy to remove? Looks like a line of clips to me.
there is another torx screw in the wheel arch that holds the bumper to the wing (see 2:01), it's at an awkward angle and is almost impossible to get access to it. It's removal is omitted from this video unfortunately. And on mine, the two fixings underneath are jammed solid, they attach to some feeble-looking brackets so it not possible to get a good bit of wellie behind them. One I can just about get a hacksaw blade in the gap. The other one looks like it will have to be drilled out. What a pain.
Yes , there is a clip holding that bumper cover to the quarter panel . In it there is Philips screw . I had no luck removing it today . Soak up with penetrating fluid an will try again tomorrow.
Question please … my golf bumper has been hit forcing it to overlap onto the rear quarter slightly…. By 1/3 cm ..if I replace the bumper with an in shape 2nd hand one will this solve the problem?
Warning! Mine had a few more screws and three different sizes of Torx! The wiring for the collision sensors also had no connector, so I had to cut the wires! This had to have been done by VW, because the car has been in the family since new. Oh, and the plastic nuts holding the lamps in were 13mm.
Hi thank you for the video. My plaque light fell into the bumper, I can feel it with the tip of my fingers but can't grab it, do you have any idea or I will have to remove the bumper? Thank you very much!
I refit but noticed one side isn’t completely flush at the wheel arch. When I investigated this I found that one of the 2 bumper clips on the drivers side was broken so that explains why it wasn’t flush at the bottom end of wheel arch. any suggestions on fixing this? Thanks
I have the same problem and it wont stays aligned, it comes outside. Very bad design. I think I just going to glue it with some transparent glue and hold it together with clamps for the time being for the glue to dry. Have you found a better solution?
My golfs handbrake has just failed and it’s rolled back into a fence slowly, the bumper is fine the bolt has popped out where the bumper meets the rear quarter panel but the connector is still there. The problem is the metal behind the rear wheel arch is damaged and pushed back now. Can anybody help with maybe telling me what the part is ??
I just broke my bumper following this tutorial!! Theres 4 bolts on the inner arch not three. Missed the top ones and snapped off as we forced the bumper not knowing. Also there is a 10mm nut that you don’t mention on the back of the middle bolts under the bumper. Terrible tutorial. Re do it or add better descriptive narration!!

Thanks. Nice, clear instructions. Makes me more confident about removing mine, and installing a towbar.

Thanks for posting this, my fiancé just destroyed my bumper and I’m going to try taking it off and heating it up, hope it pops back into shape

It is, really easy to remove, just pay attention to not breaking any of the plastic clips, with the help of a flat screwdriver
Thank you so much BMAC !!! please don't leave us again Dude 😎
Good to see you again !!! 👍👍👍
Thank you
