    What makes Warsaw in Poland such an amazing city?
    Join me as we visit a part of history that demonstrates why Poland and the city of Warsaw are truly fascinating.
    We head out to the Warsaw Uprising Monument to try and experience what began here on the 1st of August 1944 and miraculously lasted 63 days.
    We then visit a part of Warsaw called Praga, that survived the massive destruction that occurred in Warsaw during the war, and see what it was like at the time, as many of the building are still intact.
    If you enjoy adventure videos from the former Soviet Union and Central and Eastern Europe, then grab your vodka, some zakusky and join me as we as we visit a forgotten page in history that occurred in Warsaw Poland..

    Justine, the taxi driver was quite right about even police not wanting to go to Praga 20, 30 years ago. I remember in 2017, my husband, born and raised in Warsaw was quite uncomfortable when I suggested visiting the Neon museum there. He didn't say anything then, we found the museum (nice museum btw) but I could see the relief on his face walking around the area. He told me later the story of Praga 😄. As you are know, gentrification has already started so I anticipate seeing a different Praga on my next visit 😊. Greetings from Canada and keep the videos coming 🙏

  • @Cezarygon
    @Cezarygon 2 месяца назад

    The bagel comes from Poland, it had its origins in Polish Krakow, Jewish bakers baked and sold it in the Krakow suburbs. Then, emigrating from Poland to New York, they spread this wonderful tradition also in New York, but this does not change the fact that it is a Polish invention.

    Another great video! I'm glad you are back. If you are interested in the Warsaw Uprising you should definitely go to the Warsaw Uprising Museum, if you haven't been yet. You need 3/4 hours to see what the museum offers. Three things about your video: (1) The Old Town in Warsaw was rebuilt in the 1950-ties. (2) People in the street markets like this in your video don't like when you are filming them and their stuff because most of it is black market or even stolen things. (3) The man in the fish bar said that at that moment there were "only hake and cod" available in the bar. The man like a typical employee of the year from the 70-ties.

    Praga did not experience at all, that massive destruction that occurred in Warsaw after Warsaw Uprising in 1944. Praga is located on the right bank of the Vistula and in September 1944 was captured by the Soviets, who then only watched as the Germans suppressed the uprising. The Soviets did not help the insurgents, they also denied the Western Allies the right to land for planes making airdrops for the Uprising - British planes took off from central Italy, flew with supplies to Warsaw and could not land on the right bank of the Vistula at airfields under Soviet control to refuel, but they had to go back to Italy.
    From the Polish dictionary:
    "rano" mean "morning" not "early",
    The gentleman at the fish bar offered you two species of fish - cod (dorsh) or hake (morshtshuk).
    As for filming in marketplaces - it happens that the trader is in the gray zone - he is officially unemployed, does not earn, receives benefits, does not pay any taxes - if he sees a guy filming on the phone, he may have an allergic reaction. It is similar with people with a criminal past - they don't like being filmed, photographed or even watched (too long).
