Most rc car kits that are in the same price range as this hoonicorn don't have a brushless motor. Have you ever built an rc car or even taken a moment to do some research on it before?
@@rwstuart9272 Not quite sure what you're talking about. Arrma has a bunch of brushless models for less than this AE model, including the Vendetta which is an on road car. Senton, Granite, Big Rock etc, are brushless. Traxxas has a bunch of off road brushless models at around the same price as well. 100% should have come brushless for near $400.
@@rgr4475 Supply and demand, homey. I just bought one. Some people are anal and some people just like neat things with minimal effort until they learn. All the best.
@@rwstuart9272 rc car kits need to be built, and come with nothing, however they tend to be higher quality than rtr, but why mention this when its not relevant ? this TA rtr, at this price point should be brushless, your paying a premium for the Ken Block theme going on here. i could name at least 30 rtr cars in this size scale, and price bracket, with brushless systems, capable of 60+ mph. Do your research please.
I just got mine and this thing is absolutely incredible! Plenty of power and honesty the brushed motor is not an issue at all. It's a Reedy 550 upgraded from the 500 and it absolutely hoons just like it's big brother! No complaints whatsoever!!! HOON ON!!!!
Dude that thing is such a cool looking car! Took a decent beating as well! I love road cars you can street bash. Wish they had slapped on some aluminum shocks and gotten rig of that wonky spur pinion and idler design, but otherwise it’s perfect!
For the money a brushless setup would be better and a bit more fun. Arrma 3s infraction for $399 is brushless. I think they are hoping the Hoonigan trim sells it and it most likely will.
I'd like to upgrade the motor to brushless and battery to a 3S. Is there recommended part numbers that you know that would work for this particular car? Any help would be much appreciated!
Can’t go wrong with a Team Associated car. I think the action shows just how tough they built this car. The speed will be just right for your first RC.
In earlier years of RC, fiberglass was used for the base of lots of on-road cars. It’s not used as often now as many companies switched to a composite chassis for budget cars or you’ll find carbon fiber for high-end racers. This car has the right bracing for the fiberglass making it rigid and light. You’ll just need to keep an eye on wear, usually in the rear.
Proper bashing there Greg!! Since I don't know i will ask. Can that idler gear come out to put bigger pinion gear? My noobie mind was wondering. Or would it run hot? Some skid plates would be a good touch to protect that plastic a little better underneath. As always, great video and keep them coming!!
The motor slides so you can put a bigger pinion in. The idler is there so you can set the gear mesh properly and drop the assembly right into the chassis.
Really like this. Will likely pick one up (link down below! Haha). I’m still trying to get the taste of MT8 initial performance out of my mouth ha. But hopefully it was a fluke on their part! Besides, since it shared so many parts with the redcat kaiju, the same parts in fact that broke on the kaiju 😂😂 the replacement “v2” parts were readily available from redcat lol. Great review as always. I can tell you love that little skate park!
I actually went to two different skate parks in this video. Thought it would be a lot more fun than just power sliding around parking lots. It WAS a lot of fun!
Neat car, But it's a little pricy for what it is i guess your paying for the licensed body which is better than the ZD Racing EX-07 or EX-16 which is not officially licensed.
Why is this 460$? What about this car makes it that expensive? It looks like a tamiya tt02 layout. Like literally you can drop 100$ on a tt02 with motor esc included and put this body on it with a TX for less than 200$. Keep brushed setups in crawlers and tamiya reres. 460$❌❌❌🖕🏾🖕🏾🖕🏾
This vehicle is nothing less than a shelfqueen. The body looks amazing and the rest of the vehicle is garbage. Right down to the fiberglass chassis. FIBERGLASSS chassis, ROFL.
I'm glad that you Hooned it in an appropriate manner.
Thank you sir! I read the Hoon definition and then applied it to the car. I think it shows Team Associated built a tough performer!
Glad to see that these are super tough. But for that price, they should have come with a brushless setup.
Said the same thing with the hoonitruck

Of course would love to see more power in a brushless setup 😉
Got mine and ordered the brushless setup along with it.
That looks awesome and I love it so much, I just want to shred at the asphalt too! Hoonigans represent! 😎👍
Needs the brushless set up in it from the factory.
That would make it cost a lot more than it already does.
@@rwstuart9272 Other manufacturers figured out how to do it while charging less.
@@rgr4475 Have you ever heard of capitalism? I bet you have and I bet you're a Republican. Buy it or don't. Stop complaining. Hypocrites.
Those details are amazing, the price is too
Nothing like a good skate park bash session, it handled it well
Great video, subscribed 👍
Thanks!!
Dope Video glad I came across your channel some other videos didn't provide the same info and review as you!

Rest in peace BLOCK! We will miss you.
Thanks for another excellent review. I really enjoyed it and looks like fun.
Huh, fist time I've seen G10 being used on an RC. Only seen it used on knife scales and sometimes on 3D printer beds
I was not expecting a skatepark run! Pretty awesome.
Exactly why I went! 😁
Nobody was. This thing is meant to be displayed on the shelf.
What an awesome looking car! I want one 😃

It does.
cool rc and run,great review
Cool car , good review . TA make good quality stuff , This is a great entry level RC .
Nice review and awesome bash 💪🏼
Honestly, I feel the HPI Hoonicorn looks significantly better.
It would be significantly better if it was available. Been discontinued for a grip.
I've got the HPI one and it's clear, TA totally tried to clone it. yeah the HPI one is discontinued, but HAVING to use a shorty battery pack? lame.
That’s a cool skate park!
Love my hoonitruck
Another excellent video. Funny how all these Hoonigan RC cars get driven like we are Ken Block LOL
My car didn’t get as dirty as yours. 😆
I'd like to upgrade the motor to brushless and battery to a 3S. Is there recommended part numbers that you know that would work for this particular car? Any help would be much appreciated!
ouch bro that became a hoonigon at the end 😅😂
Great little car! 👍🏻🍻
Like button energized.
You rock!
Solid review Greg and great bash. Though it does have me a bit worried if Hoonigan have licensed with a company other than HPI.
Hey nice video!
Will you review the MST CFX Crawler 4WD DL1 (532201) ?
My favourite car finally in RC version…only wish it had the previous livery… is it worth the money????? It would be my First RC ever

Save your cash get a Tamiya TT-02 and mod the he'll out of it or just get 3s Infraction and save the work!
The Arrma logo stickers though ...
Any other cars use G10? Interesting choice. Don't know if I'll get one, but this video made me consider it more than any other so far.

nice run😎
Thanks! Just had fun with it 😎
I like everything except the wheels. The original paint scheme with the gold wheels looked so much better, like the HPI version.
Hello from southeast alaska how's it going bro. Man I love the mustang body
Very cool but would be Sooo much better with being brushless 3-4s.
With a locking rear diff.
Would love to see a comparison between this and the hpi v1 hoonicorn!
Unfortunately I gave my HPI Hoonicorn to a friend that moved. 😞 But that would have been cool!

Has your esc burned out on 3s

Gunna buy this as a tribute to Ken….
#KB43VER
Way to shred it at Dickinson
I don‘t know why it does not come with the standard 3300kv reedy Brushlessset. It could be awesome.
Btw, nice Video👌
Didn't that use to be based on the touring car chassis?
Man I wish I could start a company I got so many ideas for sick rcs
How much do u need to start company
Nice

rest in peace ken block🕊
So it is the same as the Hoonicon truck I just purchased then, but has a composite chassis instead of the alloy one the truck has.
Fiberglass chassis.

💪🏾💯🔥
Is it meant to jump..?
ow i need to search for the hoonicorn body for an infraction
Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t it a drift car?

@@rcdriver I know the definition, that's not what I asked.
I put that esc an motor in gorgon an esc instantly burned out anyone know gr8 esc to use with 15t 3slot reedy 3s.I have lowered gearing already
As fast as the real car is, they didn't make it brushless 🤷🏾♂️
RIP Ken Block!
I thought it was for drifting
Just after one run it’s so scraped up. Down side of painted aluminum.
The action shown was at two different skate parks. Multiple packs. Chassis is fiberglass, not aluminum.
From what I understand it's underpowered.
I just watched 11minutes and 26 seconds of a drift car jumping but not 1 second of drifting.
400 for a brushed car 😕
Probably a lot of it’s licensing fees on this one.

Nope, that is an overprized piece of junk, the Hoonicorn body will probably cost twice as much as the car because the licensing
Yuck expensive brushed.
That's really not a car that should be jumped
