I have to be honest. I'm a little confused as to what Armani is trying to accomplish here? It seems like they're essentially creating the same fragrance with slight tweaks with each release, and I'm curious how the public is going to receive it. I guess this is their answer to the Y line, or the Sauvage line.
I prefer this approach to reformulation or cutting oil percentages without any way for consumers to know until they've spent their money. This way you always know what you're buying and hopefully the retailers will have to list them as separate items for sale.
I'm doing my absolute best to enjoy Profondo, but I really can't say I like it anymore than Legend Spirit or something a fraction of the price. It just doesn't have anything great to me personally. Glad you like it though 👍
I love that Giorgio Armani keeps pumping out the endless Acqua di Gio flankers. I like the variety since ADG is my favorite fragrance line. I live in mostly hot climate here in northern California so, naturally, most of my collection is "blue", fresh, citrus, or aquatics. Looking forward to reviews of the rebottled EDT (2024) & EDP (2024), also the new Profondo Parfum.
I can make this review for you. EDT is more greener, its not as stale aquatic fruity that it was. Thus its more what EDT was in 1996. Parfum is heavy on pachuli and incense with little aquatic undertone, very much what Profumo was in 2016, just a tad bit weaker. EDP is in between, you can smell the pacbuli, some incense and more aquatic fruity accord. Profondo old vs new is more or less what Ash said while Profodo Parfum is the same Progondo minus the mineralic notes. It is thus less fresh, more sweet. Way less character and is borderline boring but I like it more as its Profondo without the mineral notes which didnt sit well with me.
I bet you Armani had to reformulate ADG Profumo and ADG Profondo bc of regulations and decided to change the packaging of the entire line at the same time. Classy move but I got my backup bottles just in case 🤣
@@BourbonInhibitions they knew what they were doing - IFRA regulations change, they ban more and more materials each year, also material costs are up - makes sense to re-formulate and "re-brand" at the same time - 2022 brought ADG EDP and it was refillable, yet they change the bottle still and possibly the fragrance too. 2-Birds, 1-cup - also being refillable is not "Eco-Friendly" it literally creates the same amount of trash if not more from packaging alone 😂
Yea someone told me it smells like rotten eggs rotten lemons gotten no compliments and people hate it lol. Maybe I have a bad batch but I don’t think so. It’s just not a pleasant sent at all I’m so confused how people like that

I'm confused. So the 2024 EDP is slightly different from the 2020 EDT, but the 2024 is also coming as a perfume version? That will be even stronger than the new EDP. When is the parfum due out then, after the EDP?
I cant wait to get this - i have been a fan of Profondo for some time but wished it was less herbaceous and mor fresh and sweet - so i turned to Azzaro Chrome Extreme that has these qualities. ACE has now been discontinued so it's music to my ears that Profondo now has these tweaks, can't wait. Also i love to see Ash's slightly emotional conclusion of the video, relieved that this beautiful fragrance has been enhanced ❤

They should have made Profondo EDP 2024 bottle with the blue gradient starting from the bottom to match the new EDP 2024 & kept the new Profondo Parfum as is since it matches the regular Parfum.
Dude, the OG Profondo is my #1 during the summer. The scent it self and the bottle is just amazing to me. I would love to have the OG version in my collection for the rest of my life. Hope they bring it back one day 🙏🏻.

Just wanted to share an update on new ADG Parfum, Armani has discontinued the 75 and 125 ml bottle, new ones will come in 50 and 100 ml and the magnetic cap is back.

I’m glad they got rid of the mineral “eggy” notes. It was very noticeable to me and it was what kept me from buying it. To me its the most noticeable in the ADG EDP but I could pick it up in profondo too

I really like the mineral aspect of original profondo & the amazing sillage, with that in mind , for me personally at least, profondo is perfect as it is , won’t be looking into this “new” version , and the new Parfum? Forget it .
This sounds pretty nice. I blind bought a 4.2oz of Profondo a few years ago, and I've never been in love with it. It's just ok to me - I do find that it has that little sharp "funk" note and is overall kind of abrasive - not smooth enough for me.
I’m happy to hear they may have handled that weird ‘thing’. I never got egg, but I definitely would get something that would remind me like someone leaving their clothes in the washer overnight and forgetting to stick them in the dryer. It was like a wet rag smell. If they took care of that, I’m gonna be buying bottles and bottles of this new Profondo, because I seriously loved the opening and wished that it had stayed there, but then just dried like a less humid version of the opening.

I just picked up the 2024. For me it smells even better than the original, and that was already one of my top picks. But it doesn’t even last 3 hours, nor does it project more than a foot. I’m telling you when I say it smells like the best blue fragrance, I mean it. But it does NOT last or project. Go find a sample bottle in person, spray it on your skin, go about your day until you buy it. I can’t even get a whiff of it when I try unless my nose is an inch away from where I sprayed.
Thanks Ashton idk if the bottle I got is bad (bought it off ebay (never again)) but I will definitely be checking it out, and wait for the parfum as well. Which I really do hope you give your opinion about and tell which one is better for you.
In the air, Profumo and the Parfum are identical, or so close that it doesn’t warrant trying to hunt down a bottle of Profumo vs. just going to Ulta and getting a bottle of the Parfum. I’d imagine this is exactly the case with this new version of Profondo.
Great to hear, I always found the original Profondo a bit weird smelling on my skin. It hat like a weird sweat like feeling, like body odor, my wife even said it stinks and I bought Profumo instead. Might check it out now to see if it behaves better

I also got to smell the new Parfum and it also is interesting, but honestly for me, I would rather spend my money on otherfresh fragrances from other brands, Aqua di Gio just isn't worth it for a freshie that most of the time goes unobserved

For me personally I prefer fragrances like Missoni Wave/Parfum, D&G light blue forever, Davidoff Cool Water and ADG Profumo, which I bought in the store after smelling it. Profondo like fragrances don't really give me that wow factor, they are too minaraly/salty/herbaceous fory taste, but you have to test it yourself
I will most likely buy the Parfum as well as profondo Parfum.... In 2020 I bought profondo and profumo.... But I do have my eyes on other fantastic scents.... We will see...
I really think based on L’Oréal logic, if they keep the same name, the intention is not to create a new scent but to keep the OG scent. If the FIL number is changed, most likely due to some ingredient sourcing changes. For example, passive sicenario : some raw material used to use now being banned, they are forced to replace the formulation and then try to reduplicate the scent as close as possible ; positive scenario: the brand wants to boost the sustainability of raw material, so they change the supplier of raw material but still intend to reduplicate the scent as close as its past version. In case of “keeping the same name, but with a new formulation”, it would be like the case of YSL Y EDT, new one versus the old one, and they did communicate that it is a new formula when the new one is released, for Y EDT, the cause of the change was mainly for the sake of improving its performance as the first generation of Y EDT, the performance was too bad. So in conclusion: I believe for EDT, Profondo EDP, EDP, Parfum, now in 2024 they are all in new pack (Parfum despite the same design, but the sizing regime is now changed from 40/75/125 to 30/50/100), but I do not assume the house wants to really create a new or adjusted scent apart from their past versions even if the FIL (formula Number) has been changed. The only intended new release from the house for 2024 big ADG campaign would be on “Profondo Parfum”. FIL changes are very often in cosmetics industry, even more in skincare items. In the case of fragrance production it can be even more sensitive as even for the same FIL , just by different batches could result in some nuances in its olfactory perception and slight alternation on its performance. Hope this bring an another perspective in this debate from someone who has always worked in the marketing of cosmetics brands. :-)
I bought profundo because of your review, and love it! I dont if its just me but it kinda reminds me of bvlgari aqua amara , 2024 doesnt have that beachy salty scent im going to get back up old profundo bottles 😅

The first fragrance I bought was starwalker just on a whim with no knowledge. My second designer was a bottle of the original profondo. I am looking forward to this new version when it is actually available.
Profondo has been my signature scent for a while. Office friendly, easy to wear literally anywhere, I get complements and nobody is ever overwhelmed with the smell. Women have told me they hate when dudes wear strong stuff to work “sauvage”. I hate that I have to buy more bottles of this stuff but they really did enhance the Profumo and profondo
I’ve always loved the matte glass finish of the Profondo. Though the new 2024 Profondo’s profile seems exciting and all, I wish they had kept the same bottle design.

I'm glad that this happened. I have always thought profondo smelled a little funky, almost like it has this weird gamey, sweaty vibe. It sounds like that is exactly what they have addressed. I will have to try this out.
I never had the eggy smell too. Love the new tweaks into a sweeter, fresher scent. Can’t wait till it’s released globally! Love that you mention it lasts longer too, the original Profondo just doesn’t last that long for me.
I just came back from a vacation trip to Europe and I must admit, the "standard Aqua" is about the same smell as the new PROFONDO. And I might bring a little confusion, but there are 200ml Aqua di parfum so it is like middle power between the actual parfum and eau de toilette. In terms of smell/flavour, to me, I would say 90% it is the same Aqua (which I loved for its fruity/fresh smell) but I don't think spending 2x or 3x more the price will be so beneficial (unless someone wants to brag with its new "toy") but wearing a parfum will make this hard as people won't see which one you wear, and they might be having a really fine nose to tell you got the 2024 or the 20xx (well known bottle). Having that said, I still love Armani for this, and I got myself a 200ml of classic for a bargain or 40Eur (special promotion because of 2024 kick ;) )
Based on your review and description, I'm really excited, I wasn't a big fan of Profondo, I found it leaning towards those ambroxan scents, I didn't like that mineral vibe. I wanted Profondo to be cleaner, fresher and more pleasing, and you said that they did it. Plus the performance was below average. I'm really happy with what Armani did with Parfum (instead of the overhyped Profumo), and now Profondo, looking forward to Profondo Parfum. I'm sure as you said many people will resist the change and keep downgrading the new one, just because they love the overrated predecessors.
id say 75% the same. only difference is that lights has this more balsamic/vinegar smell to it and has this note that thas in Nivea cream if you ever smelled that

I understand that weird eggy smell, I get that with D&G Light Blue eau intense for some reason I smell it and sometimes I makes me wanna gag but I haven’t got it from Profondo luckily
The ADG line does not deserve to be outdated, but because of time and not a lot of recent releases, that’s what happens. Armani got ahead of it by keeping it modern and updated. New eyes and old noses are gonna be happy.

Rebottled Profondo and Parfum to jive with their eco-friendly refillable bottles. Not much difference in the juice.

ADG profondo is my fav ADG as well. I never got an "egg" vibe from profondo but I very much did with Bulgari Aqua Atlantique.

The fact that an actual perfumer can describe a fragrance as detailed and completely as you can in less than half the time is incredible.

The edp profondo should have light blue and parfum profondo should have dark blue scheme for everyone will not be confused on thier perfumes.

Today I received mine, and as you mentioned, when it dried down, it had a fresher and sweeter scent, resembling Absolu to some extent.
i looked it up in Denmark size 100 ml for 1.050,00 danish crowns or 152,6$USD even a 200 ml

In the air, Profumo and the Parfum are identical, or so close that it doesn’t warrant trying to hunt down a bottle of Profumo vs. just going to Ulta and getting a bottle of the Parfum. I’d imagine this is exactly the case with this new version of Profondo.
Profumo has better performance than parfum unfortunately. Parfum lasted like 2 hours on my after trying it at Macys. Profumo lasts 6 with 3 sprays.

Great to hear, I always found the original Profondo a bit weird smelling on my skin. It hat like a weird sweat like feeling, like body odor, my wife even said it stinks and I bought Profumo instead. Might check it out now to see if it behaves better

@@RodrigoRodriguez-ri7wn well I personally tested the new Profondo edp 2024 and it reaaaally improved over the old one. I also got to smell the new Parfum and it also is interesting, but honestly for me, I would rather spend my money on otherfresh fragrances from other brands, Aqua di Gio just isn't worth it for a freshie that most of the time goes unobserved

For me personally I prefer fragrances like Missoni Wave/Parfum, D&G light blue forever, Davidoff Cool Water and ADG Profumo, which I bought in the store after smelling it. Profondo like fragrances don't really give me that wow factor, they are too minaraly/salty/herbaceous fory taste, but you have to test it yourself

I really think based on L’Oréal logic, if they keep the same name, the intention is not to create a new scent but to keep the OG scent. If the FIL number is changed, most likely due to some ingredient sourcing changes. For example, passive sicenario : some raw material used to use now being banned, they are forced to replace the formulation and then try to reduplicate the scent as close as possible ; positive scenario: the brand wants to boost the sustainability of raw material, so they change the supplier of raw material but still intend to reduplicate the scent as close as its past version. In case of “keeping the same name, but with a new formulation”, it would be like the case of YSL Y EDT, new one versus the old one, and they did communicate that it is a new formula when the new one is released, for Y EDT, the cause of the change was mainly for the sake of improving its performance as the first generation of Y EDT, the performance was too bad.
So in conclusion: I believe for EDT, Profondo EDP, EDP, Parfum, now in 2024 they are all in new pack (Parfum despite the same design, but the sizing regime is now changed from 40/75/125 to 30/50/100), but I do not assume the house wants to really create a new or adjusted scent apart from their past versions even if the FIL (formula Number) has been changed.
The only intended new release from the house for 2024 big ADG campaign would be on “Profondo Parfum”.
FIL changes are very often in cosmetics industry, even more in skincare items. In the case of fragrance production it can be even more sensitive as even for the same FIL , just by different batches could result in some nuances in its olfactory perception and slight alternation on its performance.
Hope this bring an another perspective in this debate from someone who has always worked in the marketing of cosmetics brands. :-)
I bought profundo because of your review, and love it! I dont if its just me but it kinda reminds me of bvlgari aqua amara , 2024 doesnt have that beachy salty scent im going to get back up old profundo bottles 😅

The first fragrance I bought was starwalker just on a whim with no knowledge. My second designer was a bottle of the original profondo. I am looking forward to this new version when it is actually available.
Profondo has been my signature scent for a while. Office friendly, easy to wear literally anywhere, I get complements and nobody is ever overwhelmed with the smell. Women have told me they hate when dudes wear strong stuff to work “sauvage”. I hate that I have to buy more bottles of this stuff but they really did enhance the Profumo and profondo
I love both versions, Profondo is my ADG of choice regardless of which one
I’ve always loved the matte glass finish of the Profondo. Though the new 2024 Profondo’s profile seems exciting and all, I wish they had kept the same bottle design.

I tried the 2024 Profundo and my preference is the original. Imo tne new one smells more salty and not as fresh if that makes sense.

I'm glad that this happened. I have always thought profondo smelled a little funky, almost like it has this weird gamey, sweaty vibe. It sounds like that is exactly what they have addressed. I will have to try this out.
I never had the eggy smell too. Love the new tweaks into a sweeter, fresher scent. Can’t wait till it’s released globally! Love that you mention it lasts longer too, the original Profondo just doesn’t last that long for me.

I just came back from a vacation trip to Europe and I must admit, the "standard Aqua" is about the same smell as the new PROFONDO. And I might bring a little confusion, but there are 200ml Aqua di parfum so it is like middle power between the actual parfum and eau de toilette.
In terms of smell/flavour, to me, I would say 90% it is the same Aqua (which I loved for its fruity/fresh smell) but I don't think spending 2x or 3x more the price will be so beneficial (unless someone wants to brag with its new "toy") but wearing a parfum will make this hard as people won't see which one you wear, and they might be having a really fine nose to tell you got the 2024 or the 20xx (well known bottle).
Having that said, I still love Armani for this, and I got myself a 200ml of classic for a bargain or 40Eur (special promotion because of 2024 kick ;) )
It smells amazing but it does not last at ALL. Maybe a few hours at best, but it goes away too quickly.

Based on your review and description, I'm really excited, I wasn't a big fan of Profondo, I found it leaning towards those ambroxan scents, I didn't like that mineral vibe. I wanted Profondo to be cleaner, fresher and more pleasing, and you said that they did it. Plus the performance was below average.
I'm really happy with what Armani did with Parfum (instead of the overhyped Profumo), and now Profondo, looking forward to Profondo Parfum.
I'm sure as you said many people will resist the change and keep downgrading the new one, just because they love the overrated predecessors.
Its also a new parfum out, 30,50, and 100ml which is closer to Profumo than the ”old” (2023) parfum
How similar is the new ADG Profundo Lights?
id say 75% the same. only difference is that lights has this more balsamic/vinegar smell to it and has this note that thas in Nivea cream if you ever smelled that

I have it. And it’s different. The OG’s opening is a bit fresher. The 2024 EDT smells like it has been “slimmed” down. Not as many notes as in the OG.
It looks like Armani is just trying to make the ADG line more cohesive? All refillable bottles and more streamlined? Idk but I guess they just want them to all be the same bottle style and have gradients.

The ADG line does not deserve to be outdated, but because of time and not a lot of recent releases, that’s what happens. Armani got ahead of it by keeping it modern and updated. New eyes and old noses are gonna be happy.
