- The hits just keep coming. There’s already another easy method to duplicate your items in Tears of the Kingdom. Pretty soon there's just gonna be a "duplicate" button in the inventory screen.

For bomb flower or explosive/elemental stuff you need to use recall so they dont explode before you can grab them I THINK

Nintendo’s entire plan for stopping duping has amounted to “get rid of that sort button” or get rid of that drop button” and it’s very rude that they keep removing convenience features like these in the name of stopping players from duplicating things in a single player game. And you know they’re doing it to combat duping because the situations are highly situational and the average player only casually enjoying the game probably won’t stumble upon any of the duplication glitches that have been patched, with the exception of maybe the paraglider one if they decided to literally drop bombs on an enemy as they glide over it
they didnt really remove anything... no normal player is gonna be dropping shit mid-air

All it does is make people have more fun by playing the way they want to, they don't have to dupe and if they do why not? It's their game and it's single player?

Eh but this is less powerful, isn’t it? That’s just what happened with quick smuggling though. There was almost no reason to use bow durability while we had that one lol.

If you're getting the "You can't use that right now" message, it's because Link hasnt dropped below the edge of the ledge/platform yet. He needs to fall below it for this to work properly. So let him fall for about half a second like the video said. The half second is so Link gets just below the ledge.

In case anybody has had the same issues as I have trying to dup like this. I found that the real trick is making sure link is FALLING after making the jump off the ledge. If you try and do this glitch immediately after link jumps and is still going upward you will fail every time. Instead just jump off the ledge and wait till link is falling (losing height on the z coordinate) then non of the other steps in this glitch really matter if his arm is in any specific place. Just as long as he's falling before you do the first d up it will work every time regardless of timing. Just jump wait till link falls then follow the steps without worrying about being frame perfect..

Just a tip, if you have your menu sorted by type, if you drop all of your inventory, and then pick up 1 for the dupe process, afger you scroll all the way over, it will always be the last item before the zonai devices, and every time you have to open up the menu, it will always default to the zonai devices every time so you only have to scroll over once. Makes duping faster.
Also there is a way to dupe 40. After you got your 21 (20 on the ground and 1 in inventory), if you fuse 20 of them together using the ultrahand, the game recognizes that conglomerate as 1 single item. Dupe 1 more time and fuse the 21st one to the group (max fusing cap is at 20). This means you would be able to perform the dupe glitch 19 more times before it would disappear since the conglomerate of 21 items is only recognized as a single item by the game. So the cap can actually be at 40 if done right.
Also do not resort after performing the dupe process, thats the only way it will continue to work.
Also it works jumping forward too. If you have items that explode like fire lizalfos tails, or chu chu jellies. If you hold R after pulling up the menu a 2nd time to drop the item, you will duplicate and still hold the item. Aim up in the air and throw it, then quickly activate the recall. The item will come back and as soon as it does you can cancel out and the item will drop to the ground without activating
Wrong. You gotta let go of R when Links arm moves after pulling up the menu the second time. When it comes back in place bring the menu back up AND THEN press R as soon as you hear the drop sound effect it does not work holding R the whole time

This method is easier and the way I'm referencing
I have done this a lot. Eventually you'll be able to do it consistently 100% of the time.
If it doesn't work, try leaving more time between each step. Worked for me.
If you want to dupe something that explodes on impact, hold the r button again right after releasing it, then drop your item. You'll still be holding the item. Then, throw it in the air, and use recall to safely pick up the item. Also works by looking in the air and performing the dupe normally.
I checked and it even still works 5 months after this video.
The important stuff to remember is to time it so you press the second up on the d-pad below the ledge.
It’s easier on bigger ledges (although don’t do one that gives you fall damage). I recommend the ledge near the sky tower at lookout landing.
Also, for those who might be confused, when he says r he means the r button not the stick.
crouch and backstep off a ledge and no matter the timing it works as long as you open the inv before your feet hit ground you can do it off a fan if you get the timing good enough

Still works. I find that the height really does matter when you do the final push up on the D pad when pressing X. There's a sweet spot when falling. I'm doing this on the edge of a dispenser at the Great Sky Island

I did this near a dispenser to use as a dispenser storage. Just be careful though, if the items on the ground reaches near the item cap, it’ll for some reason break the dispenser storage, and all your items will fall out of it causing it to despawn.
So just pick up your items and put them in the dispenser before it goes near the item cap, I recommend 14.
So hope this helps but I found a place that I've found to be the easiest way to do the glitch as you can do each step in quick succession with little effort or wory about timing.
At the igoshon shrine at the water temple there is a shelf with a bunch of gliders. Go on the shelf and fall from there. You can do step after step and the timing with always be perfect to throw your item.
Also on a plus done. You can throw explosives towards the ledge so worse case the explosive item will just fall if you cant catch it in time.
I've been able to do scales with 100% success.

Step 1: Make sure you only have one of the item you want to dupe
Step 2: Hold the item like you're gonna throw it, and jump backwards
Step 3: Hold up on the D-pad and then let go
Step 4: As soon as you see links arm move, release R and hold up on the D-pad
Step 5: Press x to drop and you will have duplicated the item

Tip: get it fused to a weapon before you save or it will disappear

Important notes that make this way easier:
1: you want to make sure that you don’t hit the initial pause until link is already falling in the jump arc, for some reason if you do it while he’s cresting it will refuse to drop the item, I usually wait until link is about waist height relative to the ground he just jumped from and I get very solid consistency with this working.
2: if the ledge is too high, the glitch may not work because in order for it to work link needs to hit the ground before he finishes the throw animation. Doing this off the lookout landing wall is the perfect height for practicing because it leaves enough wiggle room for delayed key presses, but not enough to make you screw up the timing a lot.
3: duping any items that break when thrown is possible, but you have to do an additional step, the moment you land you have to activate recall and rewind the item back to your hand. This is almost impossible doing off a ledge as the item will hit the wall way too fast, I solve this by using a hover stone so I can throw it past it and have plenty of time before the item hits the ground.
It works!!! make sure link is falling when you press the d pad or it will say you "you cant take that out now" tho, and the arm thing also doesnt matter lol, the best place to do this is also probably gerudo town since there's lots of ledges u can easily climb and jump off of

I'm still trying to get the hang of it, but one way that helps me get a lot more consistency is, when you are supposed to let go of the throw button, open the throw menu again and then let go while in the menu, just do the same steps from there, it helps alot
Confirmed. Took a few goes. The part I was having trouble with was remembering to let go of R after the first throw menu
This actually works and once you get the feel for it you won’t have a problem doing it

You can jump forward. It doesn't have to be backwards. You can also dupe elemental items like dragon parts. Drop one, throw one and recall it. Collect it from the air. I did dragon parts forward for about an hour tonight. It's easy.
Honestly once you got the hang of it and understand how it works its pretty easy
I keep getting an error when trying it, like it worked a few times but I keep getting a “can’t take out item” type of error a lot of the time

I'll give this a try! that patch ruined the game for me because I don't have the time to grind zonai for charges to get parts for builds and I play only to see what weird and wonderful contraptions I can make.
if youre struggling a higher falling point is better. I went into the sky and found a area that has a "room" yoou can climb on top of and jumped off of that

I'm rich now, thanks, the key is muscle memory. Once you get the hang of it, it's simply become muscle memory work, and should be easy, i duped my diamond until around almost 50 in no time, crazy!

The trick is to find a big ledge and fall a few feet before the first pause, then the other menus are done fast in between pauses

You don't have to jump backwards to pull it off. I found that the map towers are perfect to pull it off at the top of the stairs.

Minuru glitch is more efficient, but this is great if you're new.
This still works as of 25th January 2024. Just make sure you jump off a place high enough (the horse stable worked for me). If your jump is not high enough, it will always say something like "you can't drop that here".

Once you get the hang of this, it's beyond easy to do consistently. I do this with diamonds as soon as I get one in early game to be able to afford armor and supplies I know I'm gonna need like arrows or bombs.

Thanks! I've clocked 450 hours, only started using the dupe glitch at around 300. Had totally forgotten to switch off auto-update.. I was so disappointed when it stopped working. I mean the amount of grinding for certain items was ott imo. Anyway, it only lasted a day. No more updates for me. Relief that it works😅.

It works. I just duped all my silver lynel gear, and a few diamonds...
You have to make sure you are falling. If you are ascending in your jump, it won't work.

If yiu have mineru you can ride her and then yiu can deactivate her then yiu can click on map and watch a memory and after the go back to your items and make sure yiu have four of the item and then hold it but make sure yiu set the thing to most used items then when you had the four of the item ho back into the map and watch another memory and yiu can skip it the click B and hold R and find the item it will say zero but yiu can't still throw it so throw four the go back on items menu and grab any other item but only grab one and then click B then yiu can throw it and bam now you have 8 of the first item that you grabbed but I recommend only doing 6 times so yiu can have 20 of the item

If it's saying you can't take the item out, you're probably too close to the ground. Jump back farther so that you're below the place you jumped from.

Please note that dragon part duplication doesn't work because they explode when you throw them and the same gose for other elements items
