But Obie sided with Pusha T. While Swift was posing taking a photo with a chick, i said a line from my favourite verse of his "Hailies Revenge" while he was smiling, he said the next line through his teeth. After, he came over and we rapped the whole verse together! It was a dream come true! Rapping one of my favourite verses with one of my favourite rappers! And Swift said it was Obie who actually came up with the hook for that song, which is a dope piece of trivia
@Tien Most Powerful Human On Earth Eminem said he has never said one word on a track he didn't write, that was obviously a reference to an old song he did
@Tien Most Powerful Human On Earth @GoalSquad there is more too the hook than the "doe rae mi" and "ma ma macosa" parts where Em is dissing Ja. Swift never specified if Obie actually wrote it, or just came up with the idea to incorporate the doe rae mi part into the diss as a hook. My guess is the latter, but its possible it could be the first. I could see Obie potentially writing something like that. I have other funny stories from that night. The DJ of the opening acts and i have a good mutual friend and she warned me about him, saying the dude was fxxkin crazy. On stage he was drinking all sorts liquor using a literal real human skull as a cup. (All while Obie and Swift were still performing) When i went out back to the green room to get some air, the DJ legit brought a big ass staple gun and was convincing people to let him staple their nipples. The dude said "yo dare me to put a staple through my balls" everyone laughed like "no! fxxx that!" But he did it anyway and stapled his balls to his leg. My friends who opened got their nipples stapled and was like "fxxx yeah!! Staple gang!!!" I was like "fxxx that, i aint tryna impress anyone, nobody stapling my titties"
This is a good video, but I want to point out, even though it has some truth about Eminem's white audience only liking Eminem's music and not necessarily Hip-Hop, I also think a lot of people who has that same thought process about Eminem's fanbase also overlook how many white people in his fanbase that love Hip-Hop because he spark their interest in the first place. Even the former white fans that are really into hip-hop and stop listening to him since they were kids, at the end of the day, he still got them into Hip-Hop. Both things could be true.
Yeah i feel like to a lot of people (doesnt matter the race) Eminem had a huge impact because he was a gateway to hip hop. I would never heard my favourite artists in hip hop because that music was never played here in Portugal if it wasnt for Em
I went to a middle school dominated by Whites, and all my White friends would be the type to say "I don't like rap but I like Eminem", this was in the early 2010's when he came out with Relapse. Now regarding this, I don't even think they really liked Eminem. They just fucked with the hits and never a full album. Also, Eminem's current fanbase is not the same as it was years ago years ago, so I am curious what the current generation thinks of him. And regarding White fans, with the rise of trap rap, most rap concert's filled with White people.
@@redbluebird6490 It is because his hits are pop rap type rather than hardcore . This is why so many people(regardless of colour) listen to his hits . Although I was around 7 years old when D12 World dropped, I remember hearing My Band literally everywhere. And even though Eminem was my favorite rapper at the time, I didn’t pay much attention to d12 outside of that. But this for me the peak Shady Aftermath in general. At least what I can remember of it lol Eminem, D12, 50, G-Unit, Obie, Dre still producing beats for everyone, Game, And Detox actually still seeming likely lol. It was pretty nice to see. And to this day, I’m still a fan of the Re Up album. Even though some label that album the start of the downfall of Shady Records, it was still solid ass work to me.
It had some good songs but Bobby creek and cashis was weak stat quo probably also did not deserve to be signed and why all 3 at the same time. He should pushes one of them HARD

D12 still did fairly well even though they needed eminems help, it's normal for a lot of artists to have one or two big albums plus singles and then go down hill from there, I guess d12 could of kept going longer but I understand why they quit, they still have a lot to be proud of
Devils Night AND D12 World were both great albums. I'm blessed to have gotten to see them live at the Anger Management 3 tour in Dallas at the smirnoff center. RIP Proof n RIP Bugz🙏🏼 🕊 . Kon Artist imo was one of the better producers associated with Shady, people forget he produced young buck's "look at me now". "Blow my buzz" "purple pills" "40oz" "how come?" "My band" "fight music" etc just a few of my favorite.
Bro that era didn't die, we just grew older and outgrew a lot of things, now looking back at those times, all I can say I'm greatful we didn't have phones with cameras and social media lol 🤣
What happened? In a nutshell, Proof is dead (RIP), Bizarre wasn’t good, Mr. Porter was their producer guy anyway (but he was nice), and Swift & Kuniva were underrated.
What happened to them is unique just like what happens to every other artists and group is unique but it's still the same at the end of the day. Times change people change and that's just life. The people alive that are big fans during an artist rise to the top will always be their core audience. Kids listening will always hold a special place for him but they will get older and grow into something else. The older generation listening to them may light their music but they will never really be their favorites cuz they had a favorite when they were younger. The people in the middle who are around the same age as the artist will love them in a different way and when they get older they will morph into other stuff also but the artist will always hold a special place in their heart. I am 42 so I was a kid when rap first started and fell in love with it. Those rappers who started out in the '80s will always be my favorites but if they made new music now I would be a fan of it but it would hit differently. As much as I love Jay Z and I'm always happy when he puts out music he will never have that same bus and the fact that he had in the late 90s to early 2000s when he took over and that's okay that's normal natural and that's no knock against anybody. Hip hop and rap is basically a sign of the times and although the music may sound good years later it's more of a nostalgic thing. It's a little outdated but you still love it because you feel at home with it it gives you a feeling and makes you think back to what you were doing around that time. It's funny because at the time I liked this group but I wasn't in love with their music but as I've gotten older and here they're old songs from time to time I appreciate it more simply from a Nostalgia standpoint
They are definition of "bestfriend" for Eminem. They never "blame" Eminem for overshadow the group and still support Eminem till the end. If Big Proof still alive, maybe there will be some point that D12 can shine even without Eminem.
I always wondered why the D12 members never appeared as solo artists on Eminem's albums. As far as I know there was only 1 solo feature and that was Bizarre on Amityville (MMLP). By the way, I think Hannicap Circus could keep up very well with Devil's Night and D12 World in terms of quality.
I saw them live when Devil's Night came out. I was a little bummed Em wasn't there, but that was the peak of his fame and I wasn't surprised. They put on a great show
I loved both those D12 albums. It's both a blessing and a curse to rhyme with Em. On every track he is clearly on two other levels with exception to Proof. Proof was the only one who could keep up with Em lyrically. And still Em was on another level. Nothing but love for Proof (RIP). Proof was a genius in a different way than Em. The whole group dynamic was phenomenal. All the guys in D12 are legit rappers. You would think they could network themselves into better collabs and opportunities. They all still reached a level of success most only dream of. They should be thankful they are in the rap game and still alive. I loved this recap. I havent kept up to date for a long time now, so this was interesting info. For anybody still reading this, what the hell are you doing? 😂 Go watch another video.
D12 was like the original odd future, but they had a good run the album’s were good and considering hip hop classics, but yeah once proof was gone it just ain’t the same. But be nice for them to try one last time
I REMEMBER D12 IN HIGH SCHOOL I WOULD BUMP THERE MUSIC IN 2000'S R.I.P PROOF & BUGZ WISH THEY CAN MAKE A COMEBACK IN 2024 BUT I CAN UNDERSTAND WHY THEY WON'T MAKE OTHER ALBUM WITHOUT PROOF🙏🏽BUGZ
It's not just Eminem. Most rapper owned labels don't promote artists they sign. The only exception may be Master P. He had an album and artist out every week
D12 fell completely apart when Proof was killed because that completely tore Eminem up. Proof was the glue that tightly held the group together, not saying that they were at odds with each other at all. When Proof got killed the whole spark quickly went away, and that's the main reason as to why Eminem stepped away from the rap scene for several years, and he even thought about quitting. RIP Proof
shady records could have easily been, and still be, one of the greatest labels of all time with the talent and diversity of the artists that have been on the label. that truly is em's greatest shortcoming as a legend in the game, is his dire lacking to properly promote talented artists.
Devils Night is literally one of my favorite hip hop albums D12 world was ok not nearly as good as Devils Night though Edit: If they released a reunion album, it would go crazy. I think that it would be friggin amazing if they did that and made it like a love letter to Proof and Bugz. Rip
for anyone new to this that is interested a few tracks you can listen to from these times are: "Beautiful" (verses recorded 2007, before Em's overdose) "Not Afraid" (This is a track of Marshall promising to never Relapse again, a double entendre jab at his previous album that he ended up not liking in hindsight) "Deja Vu" (A somewhat mono-tone description of Em's addictive tendencies) "Castle and Arose" (These two tracks will tell you a lot about that specific time in 2007, also his thoughts on losing Proof at the time and how he eerily predicted his death in the "Like Toy Soilders" music video recorded 2 years prior.. it shows how that actually fucked with his head quite a lot whenever he would see Proof's/D12 posters at his studio and home) and I see people see this change as a "clone" or even worse "android" but can't see that he just changed his lifestyle and can't believe he can still rap like he does at 50, have to call him a hollywood created robot from 06? i think they say lmao.. I just say listen to the music, you'll hear emotions no machine could replicate.
I do miss D12 they were and are one of the best rap groups that ever touched a mic R.I.P Bugz and Proof hopefully one day they'll all come back and do one more song together but that's just wishful thinking.
Yea eminem is only torn to join the mixtape or make another album because PROOF IS DEAD and was his closest friend and just working with everyone reminds him of proof and since he isnt there it fucks with him emotionally and mentally im sure of it
Bizzare doesn't give a shit what you think and that's why I listen to his shit. Some poeple take everything they hear as serious fact. People have gone inane.
i loved d12 but I couldn't care less about their solo endeavors. between growing out of that type of sound and truly believing at the time they couldn't stand firmly on their own , proof getting killed was the turning point .
D12 was only featured on Tech N9nes 2001 song... THATS IT. Nothing else... even after 2 successful albums. I blame Eminem for not getting D12 more spotlight as solo acts and more features
It’s not that no one was “not a big enough fan of hip hop to follow D12’s solo careers” they just honestly weren’t that great stand alone. There’s a select few songs.. but other than that they were stale without the Dirty Dozen vibe.
You hit the nail on the head when you said that Em was a pure artist and uninterested in being a business man. Even 50 has done well for himself with how much he had going for him before he filed for bankruptcy a while back. Even now, he has an 8 figure net worth, so he's gotten back on track. Em could never be a boss, and more importantly, he could never be someone who will help get someone over, like what Dre did for him. This same thing happened to Slaughterhouse. I think he just expected his artists' lyrical skills to get them over, like what he thought his did. But while Em may be the greatest lyricist in the history of the game, he still needed Dre to help promote him and introduce him to the mainstream audience as well as other artists who could collab with him. Dre certainly has the clout to make that happen. Even though Em is a legend on the mic, behind the scenes and AWAY from the mic, he has absolutely NO credibility, so he could never do for his signees what Dre did for him, and that's a damn shame because that should've been the first thing he picked up on having been a beneficiary of that.

Nah you tripping bro. GRIP def getting some recognition and people are excited for WS Boogies album. You have to remember, just because they ain't doing 100K sales first week on Shady Records doesn't mean they aren't having success. The issue with Shady Records is its built to have eyes primarily on one person which is Em. Record labels like TDE, they have their one star but everyone else there too helped build the label.
And even like A$APs crew if you weren't there from the beginning you wouldn't be recognized that easily unless you already have an established name prior. The thing that comes with Shady Records is the creative freedom that they allow their artists. You see GRIP already release 2 new singles lately after his album drop last year, and now he's going to start on his next project. He's got that control to do so because he doesn't have to deal with any BS or Shady business (pun intended) from these other record labels
when Em signed to Interscope he worked hard and made himself, he wasn't constantly ask Dr and Iovine to hook him with artists. those artist he signs they are expecting him to do everything for them. they ignore selfishly that the guy is not young anymore, he can't tour with them or go on shows promoting them... he sacrificed enough for his own success, he can't do it forever.

@Tien Most Powerful Human On Earth yeah I think he meant he came up with making Doe Rae me the hook
(All while Obie and Swift were still performing)
When i went out back to the green room to get some air, the DJ legit brought a big ass staple gun and was convincing people to let him staple their nipples. The dude said "yo dare me to put a staple through my balls" everyone laughed like "no! fxxx that!" But he did it anyway and stapled his balls to his leg.
My friends who opened got their nipples stapled and was like "fxxx yeah!! Staple gang!!!"
I was like "fxxx that, i aint tryna impress anyone, nobody stapling my titties"
@@licittofficialGreat fucking story bro, lol. People are usually bad w/ detail on here
That era never died. Speaking as one of those kids, it’s all underground
I’m not exactly his fan but I do listen to handful of Eminem songs(along with many other artists), most of the songs that I listen to are hits but some of them are from inside the album as well. Plus he inspired a lot of rappers in my country
Oh Eminem and Linkin Park were gateways for White kids to get into hip hop more
@@e-heromanny4348 really I was around then and 2pac and snoop where actually the gateway...you do know before there was an eminem there was a big, Dre, and l.l. all huge...only difference was there was good rock music then and while I despise country it had moments, as well...I don't know about this agenda that white kids like eminem and not rap(in that early era) but it inticed them more to try doing it...they were already listening and supporting it or you'd of never heard deathrow or nwa...why wouldn't the beastie Boys be the beginning if that's the case? Damn people cant let this black/white/brown shit go, at all...I guess Hispanics loved fat Joe and didn't care for the terror...well they're all Hispanic so no...or everyone loved 50 but not real hip ho...no they're all black...but it can fall on him because he is the outlier...its all trash anymore so does it even matter at this point?
D-12 “dirty dozen” six rap group members, with alter ego’s, 6x2=12. They were D-12 with Eminem, not because of him. It was never “Eminem’s” D-12.
It was proof and he died
Moral of the story
Don't be in the same group as a mega superstar
Unless you don't like the spotlight and cool with being his hypeman
Moral of the story is don't get in arguments in bars over pool tables.
I believe that without Proof there was no one to really push D12 and ofc the death had a huge impact on Eminem.
That's pretty much what Em said on Stepping Stone
Having a talented friend only gets you so far. The D12 story.
@@turtleanton6539 he gave them the launching pad & cosign.
The same way Dre did for him, he did for 50 & 50 did for G-unit. After you get your shot, it's up to you to make the most of it
To this day I do not comprehend what people like about 'My Band'. It's the most gratingly irritating song I've heard probably ever, I would prefer having a rusty nail punched through my eardrum over listening to that song even a handful of times.
Whats crazy D12 never got their street credibility in hip hop even tho they had STREET CREDIBILITY.
Cause they were clowns

D12 still did fairly well even though they needed eminems help, it's normal for a lot of artists to have one or two big albums plus singles and then go down hill from there, I guess d12 could of kept going longer but I understand why they quit, they still have a lot to be proud of
Yup even 50 cent only had two good studio albums

The title for this video pretty much encapsulates it. The video isn’t called what happened to D12, rather what happens to Eminem’s d12
Loved this group man.
Straight up
nah is dead
What happened? In a nutshell, Proof is dead (RIP), Bizarre wasn’t good, Mr. Porter was their producer guy anyway (but he was nice), and Swift & Kuniva were underrated.
Bizarre wasn’t good? The man was ahead of his time.
Eminem needs Swift and kuniva on an album. Royce got 10000s featur3s😊
Unlike slaughterhouse over here got royce turning on em, Joe blaming em. Only joell and Crooked don't blame em
Not harbouring bitterness despite constant harassment from "fans" over the years means the D12 boys are legit stand-up.
I had good middle school memories listening to them, what a time 😁🙌
I miss D12.. I still listen to all their solo albums and their D12 albums
Go watch another video.
Kuniva lowkey was one of my favorite rappers growing up
D12 was like the original odd future, but they had a good run the album’s were good and considering hip hop classics, but yeah once proof was gone it just ain’t the same. But be nice for them to try one last time
D12 were absolutely brilliant especially there early stuff
I remember D12 . Abouslotley fantastic
Fight Music makes me wanna fight everyone whenever I go out
D12 4 LIFE
I REMEMBER D12 IN HIGH SCHOOL I WOULD BUMP THERE MUSIC IN 2000'S R.I.P PROOF & BUGZ WISH THEY CAN MAKE A COMEBACK IN 2024 BUT I CAN UNDERSTAND WHY THEY WON'T MAKE OTHER ALBUM WITHOUT PROOF🙏🏽BUGZ
They could of evolve like how Tyler the creator did however they didn’t want to and didn’t last the test of time
Tyler the creator is one man. Not 5. Also you can’t compare his career to a groups career it doesn’t even make sense lmao wtf are you on
My Band was fucking terrible, but the albums were great.
It's not just Eminem. Most rapper owned labels don't promote artists they sign. The only exception may be Master P. He had an album and artist out every week
Proof was the glue that kept the group together.
Devils Night is literally one of my favorite hip hop albums
D12 world was ok not nearly as good as Devils Night though
Edit: If they released a reunion album, it would go crazy. I think that it would be friggin amazing if they did that and made it like a love letter to Proof and Bugz.
Rip
for anyone new to this that is interested a few tracks you can listen to from these times are: "Beautiful" (verses recorded 2007, before Em's overdose) "Not Afraid" (This is a track of Marshall promising to never Relapse again, a double entendre jab at his previous album that he ended up not liking in hindsight) "Deja Vu" (A somewhat mono-tone description of Em's addictive tendencies) "Castle and Arose" (These two tracks will tell you a lot about that specific time in 2007, also his thoughts on losing Proof at the time and how he eerily predicted his death in the "Like Toy Soilders" music video recorded 2 years prior.. it shows how that actually fucked with his head quite a lot whenever he would see Proof's/D12 posters at his studio and home)
and I see people see this change as a "clone" or even worse "android" but can't see that he just changed his lifestyle and can't believe he can still rap like he does at 50, have to call him a hollywood created robot from 06? i think they say lmao.. I just say listen to the music, you'll hear emotions no machine could replicate.
Bizarre & King Gordy AKA Last American Rockstars 🔥🔥🔥 Also Kuniva crazy talented
I do miss D12 they were and are one of the best rap groups that ever touched a mic R.I.P Bugz and Proof hopefully one day they'll all come back and do one more song together but that's just wishful thinking.
If I'm gonna listen to rap for sheer "shock value" it's hard to no pick Bizarre.
''Searching for Jerry Garcia'' will make you cry, the project is so good, RIP proof
Proof & Swift both got crazy solo catalogues that people sleep on
Yea eminem is only torn to join the mixtape or make another album because PROOF IS DEAD and was his closest friend and just working with everyone reminds him of proof and since he isnt there it fucks with him emotionally and mentally im sure of it
Bizzare doesn't give a shit what you think and that's why I listen to his shit. Some poeple take everything they hear as serious fact. People have gone inane.
i loved d12 but I couldn't care less about their solo endeavors. between growing out of that type of sound and truly believing at the time they couldn't stand firmly on their own , proof getting killed was the turning point .
Devils night was a good and under appreciated album
Bizarre had the least amount of pressure to write on that entire roster lmao
Whose here after they just dropped
Denaun is a really good producer. Loved his track "incredible" that shit was 🔥
D12 was only featured on Tech N9nes 2001 song... THATS IT. Nothing else... even after 2 successful albums. I blame Eminem for not getting D12 more spotlight as solo acts and more features
I'm glad they are all freinds instead breaking and becoming enemies
Devils night was really dope, D12 world was just okay wish they made another
Mr Porter is a sick producer still
Good shit here. I totally agree with you on everything you've said here.

The Proof album Searching For Jerry Garcia was one of the first CDs I ever bought when I was like 13. It was an awesome double disc set, one side was the CD and the other was a DVD called High World which was Proof just filming himself doing funny shit and telling stories high as shit 😄 Loved that DVD
50 Cent and Yelawolf are the only artists on Shady Records that fulfilled their contracts. 🤔
Rip to the legend Proof
These girls don't even know the name of my band
Man I really hope GRIP blows up really big in the coming years, he is absolutely amazing.
Em was the machine but Proof was the glue that held everyone together
I feel like calling Chappelle a shock comic is doing a disservice to one of - if not the best comedians of all time.
Yeah D12 is no more, but their memory lives on and will always be a legend, I’m raising my kids on D12, Shady/Aftermath AND G-Unit Records 👌🏼
Murda Inc
Mr. Porter is dope. Good producer, good rapper and a good singer on top of all that. That's a triple threat I wish I was
Listen to "Stepping Stones" Em explains it with that song.
Proof is the only one in my opinion, that would have made it solo.
That Devil's Night mixtape from 2015 is highly underrated!
You did a great job with this video
being signed to Shady doesnt mean Eminem is supposed to hold your hand lol. exception for his real life friends but the rest of em nah
Just call them up a do a fucking song Em. Damn.
D12 was a constant reminder of Proofs absence!
when Em signed to Interscope he worked hard and made himself, he wasn't constantly ask Dr and Iovine to hook him with artists. those artist he signs they are expecting him to do everything for them. they ignore selfishly that the guy is not young anymore, he can't tour with them or go on shows promoting them... he sacrificed enough for his own success, he can't do it forever.
I wish all the members success but let’s keep it 💯 nobody’s trying to hear a Bizzare verse in 2022. That ish was cringy 20 years ago and it would be even worse now
I actually got the CD 12 at a club years back and they were freaking awesome I am a Metalhead but I appreciate good music and I got to say those guys knocked it out of the park
They were grate🙌..but you have to admit that Eminem was the real reason why the band was number one 😏👏👏👏👏🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Proofs album searching for Jerry Garcia definitely is one of my top favorite albums
