Is erbium ablative or non-ablative? I'm confused. I have heard that it is both. Is there a setting on the laser that allows it to switch from ablative to non-ablative or are there simply different types of erbium lasers that offer ablative versus non-ablative. No one talks about this. Thanks
I just had a consultation and he only have fraxel laser. He saw my acne scars and within 2 or 3 mins he say i needed erbium laser for my acne scars and send me off my way without taking a dime. i asked why because he said erbium goes deeper. but in this video u said c02 goes deeper ? so whos telling the truth? I truely respect the dr for not trying to take my money and waste my time doing c02 over erbium. i dont fuilly understand why he said i needed erbium laser for my scars.
Oh I thought you were a physician. An erbium is ablative and a Fraxel is not so that’s probably what he’s going for. A CO2 might be too aggressive for your skin tight. I’m sure he knows what he’s doing. Good luck!
Not really. The C02 drives energy much deeper than an Erbium. The Erbium is highly absorbed in water and penetrates more superficially so it won't go deep enough to affect much structeral change. If you need anything or equipment you can see new and used lasers on my website at: www.lasercoach.com
Have you heard of the Tixel? I was just on a webinar last night and a prominate facial plastic said he got rid of his C02 in favor of it. I can email you info and a good contact if you'd like. Where are you located?
It's ablative. The way you can tell is that plume comes off the skin and you have to use a smoke evacuator. It's highly absorbed in water and is great for relatively light laser peels. Are you an operator or patient?
Is Erbium Yag, Erbium Laser or Erbium Laser Peel the same ??? thank you Doctor great content !
What about for ethnic skin type? Erbium yag or erbium fractional or none?
Fractional erbium should be fine if you aren't too aggressive. The depth of penetration is very shallow with erbium.

Are we talking about fractional non fully ablative CO2? Things like cool peal ?
Yes pretty much all used these days are fractional.
Can't you basically get the same results if you just stack pulses (goes deeper )?
