I've never seen the hype these last 20 years man. VII was spoonfed like we're cattle. Squall doesn't even have a 3DCG movie until know. Sad to say but this series is just too risky.

Final Fantasy 8 is true noir/sci-fi. This game was far ahead of its time. Even all of these years later, it uniquely stands out. The story, the setting, the characters, the music...whether you liked it or not, you cannot say that there is a single entry in the series that is anything like it. 8 is the first final fantasy that I ever played as a young boy and it took me years to beat. I was far too young to understand the junction system or the mechanics, and so it would take me weeks (or longer) to beat a single boss. Now when I revisit, i even love the junction system! It's awesome to be able to boost stats without immense grinding. Plus there is so much customization available. Not to mention, this is the first time I ever saw paradoxical/non-linear storytelling employed in a game. I remember being so blown away by each chapter of the story and honestly I still am to this day. I feel we will never get a remake for it, FF8 will always live in the shadow of FF7 which I won't ever understand because I've always thought it is far more interesting. All of that being said, if this game came out tomorrow and it costed 500 dollars, I would buy 2 copies.

A bit too much FFXV aesthetic here, but the general idea is captured pretty well. Squall, Seifer, Rinoa and Ultimecia are spot on.
They took the hair from ffxv, which makes the supposed ai look lazy it tried to blend newer tech based images but duplicated aspects instead of maintaining style and color palates
It morphed a blend between riona and tifa
Irvine got blend with arun of whoever the hat guy was
Yuna in the ffx remaster too notthat aspects werent already similar to a lesser extent

I would love a remake like this but minus the absolutely deranged smiles. On a related note, Zell's model in this one would make a perfect starting point for Kefka in an FF6 remake.

I think it has more to do with the overall atmosphere of ff8. To me the dialogue, story, FMV sequences and music was closer to that of a PG-13 movie vs FF7 that struck me as closer to PG, if that makes sense?

Almost. What happened to Seifer and Squall's scars? To me that's such an important character trait for them. It tells the story of how deep their rivalry is.
They are there just much smaller. Seifers is a few cm below is right eye and Squalls in his right eyebrow area

The general look and vibe of FF8 was really cool. I liked how a lot of the music had a sort of military feel to it as well.

My first FF game was 8. Took me months to beat unlike todays games where you can beat it in two weeks. This had one of the greatest storylines, soundtrack, and characters.

If you want longer games, you're playing the wrong ones. Your gaming abilities have also likely increased a significant amount since FFVIII, thus games are easier for you to complete than they were back then.
Final Fantasy 8 was my very first final fantasy.
After beating it I went to 7 and strongly disliked it.
I gave 7 a shot and it just wasn’t clicking for me.

Problem with 8 is that the story is a mess and the combat is broken and the characters are nowhere near as develloped as in FF7

We need FF8 Remake after the 7 Trilogy.
6, 8 and 9 sould get a Remake.
9 because it is more a "Disney Fantasy" could be on the Level of Crisis Core Reunion.
6 and 8 need the Quality of 7.
Alot of FFs deserved a remake tbh.
First FF not only deserves an actual remake, but a fleshed out story that tells us exactly how it went down. For example, who are the 4 heroes and the origins of Warrior of Light.
FF2 deserves a fleshed out story as well that gives us the deeper details who are the characters.
FF3 should follow based from the DS version remake, and have Onion Knight as the strongest class to have instead.
FF4 remake would be nice for us to learn more about Cecil how he became the Black Knight.
FF5 is good so a remake version would be good.
FF6 would be awesome to have as a remake, as well as the concept of having more than 4 people in the party at some scenes (you’ll still get 4 by default, in some scenes it’d be more than 4).
They are sitting on a gold mine, they could sit back and just do Remakes for the next 20 years.

I like all Final Fantasy games. But Final Fantasy 8 is the one that leave a mark in me. It's the first Final Fantasy game I played. I love the soundtrack in Final Fantasy 8. Hearing it now would take me into the past, the first time I played this game.
FF8 was my first too. I'll never forget going over to a friend's house and seeing the final battle with Griever and thinking, "What is this?!"

I had ff8 on PC and it was one of my favorite games as a teen. I found it to be more charming than 7. So much nostalgia if they remake.
I know AI gets attacked for destroying art, but, if they made a FF8 movie entirely from AI and put some Hans Zimmer music to the score id be totally ok with that and happily watch an 8 hour version

If Square wanted time travel/alternative timelines mumbo Jumbo, 8 was the place to do it as time travel was well and truly established in the main plot. Instead they shoved it into 7 for brand recognition

Damn I want a remake of 8!! The draw system was terrible, but using the new hybrid gameplay of FF7R will do wonders!
It wasn’t terrible. Just needed a tweak or two. The best spells to junction meant they became useless as spells. Just make junctioning a bit weaker, always draw 10 per attempt, and then let 80/100 offer 100% stat benefit so you can use 20 spell casts without reducing your stats. 🤷🏾♂️
Draw and Junction systems were great....
I never had any issue with protecting my stats. The reason people never used magic in FF8 was because it was so WEAK @@courve
@@Demowan it wasn’t weak on its own. Magic has never been good in the FF series except maybe FF12 and certain exceptions in FFT. The stat boosts were too high from junctioning, so the normal spell damage wasn’t worth it in comparison. At the same time, your stat drops at the same time that you use the junctioned spell, so it’s an unfair punishment. Junction made magic suck beyond normal .
@@courvePal FFXII have the worst magic system of the franchise, it takes so long to cast and any ranged attack cancels it, its not even worth to use magic in the game

I love this game but collecting 100x pices of 1 spell is not what i want to see in remake 😅 Rest junction system, gfs is good. Add mana points like in ff7 remake resolve this problem.
What i like about FF8 is the cozy moments after tensions.

As gorgeous as this looks i think the game most deserving of the remake treatment is by far FF6. Celes, Shadow, Terra, Locke, the list goes on and on. And then a graphically updated version of the best villain in arguably the entire franchise. I know, my vote still goes to Sephiroth but Kefka is not far behind. But yeah, PLEASE remake FF6 next, i will be so happy, even though ill be in my damn forties by the time i get to play it.
