The rattle/rasp is part of the header. You can't do anything to make it go away. I figured this out from months of research. It's not actually a rattle or anything loose. If anyone cares.
Yea, i have a Megan header I’m sure it’s the same. it’s just the way the air hits the flange, or it could be scavenging. Either way, that’s what you get when you buy replica parts!

I ran Apexi N1 cat back exhaust with Alphawerk headers in 2005. Had to remove the header because it was TOO loud. I believe Alphawerk was one of the first company to make IS300 headers.

The tin can sound could be from the metal on the headers being so thin, i would maybe try wrapping it and see what that does. Also, ive seen vids on diy drone reduction mods, maybe something like that could help tune the tone

still a deal sadly i been looking for header long tube ford 460 BBF and 1200 for i assume usa made stuff sucks price is nuts and no china junk but oh well lol a kit would be nice and are around made in usa with you guessed it nutz oh pricing

I had one of those on my first IS300. Although it was 2014 or so and the damn thing was like $250 back then and the rear o2 was hitting the firewall..... No other sweet $60 options like they have these days.
It sounded great for months until randomly my cars idle became super weak and wanting to die because the car was running rich without the cats. So now I have to go back to stock 😢
I have this manifold on my nonvvti mkiii supra but my setups is gte pistons and a 27mm head gasket and full 3inch straight pipe which was crazy loud. So now i added single muffler at rear. People constantly compliment the exhaust note. Probably the low compression makes it sound deeper. I still want the car to be little bit more silent so ill be adding an second middle muffler. Oh I build my engine low compression for future boost.
If you still got the OEM resonator it does an awesome job to muffle down the rasp and droning. I've got and Megan header, midpipe and Dynomax axle back, stock resonator. Not obnoxious at all. I agree with your opinion, so no offense, but I don't like the sound of this at all 😂 With that said, I'm slightly spoiled, cause I think I have one of the best sounding is300's out there. And no crazy exhaust setup; the main thing that changed it all was removing the 3rd catalytic converter, the "Cali Cat" lol. All the sudden it opened up and sounds close to its true 2JZ tone! Stock header, never touched it... But I am now seriously starting to look into replacing it, simply cause it's wearing out and rusting up; hence how I came across your video. Been watching for awhile tho, so always appreciate the "poor man's" perspective on this car, so thank you as always for the work. BUT - my '04 is non-turbo, and I don't believe anyone can change my mind on how amazing it sounds with such a simple and relatively inexpensive modification that any decent exhaust shop or DIYer could do! I don't have great sound clips, but one day when I get my car to where I'd like it to be, I'll do a video on it.
@@PoorManMods 100%!worth it if your rich imo and want a naturally aspirated beast. The gains are awesome for headers but obscenely expensive. Back in 2004 I payed $550 for USA made Doug Thorley headers which is allot but worth it for premium USA made V6 headers for my VG30E V6!engine. That’s 932.71 adjusted for inflation. $2400 is insane. Like what you’d expect from BMW or Ferrari even.😱😂 Figs also makes a full titanium exhaust for like $4 grand../holy fuk! I always dreamed of a full titanium exhaust. I use to be poor then rich and now I’m kinda poor again. The Figs headers and full Ti exhaust would be so sweet but we’d still get smoked by grandmas in Tesla’s😱😂😂.

Even the High quality headers like Megan don’t make any REAL power on the VVT-I 2JZ-GE. We all know it’s VERY expensive to make real power with any Naturally aspirated engine. The only IS300 2JZ headers I’ve seen that make any real power are then newer Figs and they’re obscenely expensive($2400 without any coatings…holy shit). BTW It’s not rocket science with respect on the exhaust. Without a resonator it’s to loud and it rumbles(backfire sound) to much. A great muffler like the HKS HI-Power with a resonator sounds great and it’s not to loud. Whenever I do headers I ALWAYS keep my stock manifolds.💪🤘👍
I dont think so, not unless I turbo it which is unlikely. The only tuning solutions I know of are piggy back programmers which i dont like, and expensive standalones.
@@therealboofighter They make it hard to tune, however you NEED to tune most toyotas everytime you modify it for put different wax on it like subaruas. theyre pretty adaptive :)
Were you able to swap over the 02 sensors to the new header without having to run simulators or anything? I want to do this but don’t want to get a cel

Did you use the supplied gaskets? I recently installed a set of headers on my IS300 and it’s leaking at the engine and at the y pipe ☹️ My mechanic is saying it’s the cheap gaskets but I’m on the fence about trying new OEM gaskets or putting the OEM exhaust manifold back on because I can’t deal with the sounds the cars making from the leaks. Any advice? Thanks!
hey im having trouble with and exhaust leak right where the headers meet the y pipe because the headers has a flat flange instead of the donut shaped gasket, how did you over come that?

IMO IS300 HKS axle-backs are the best sounding by far- they sound good with almost any upstream mods be it OEM or a mix of header/y-pipe combos.

The noise you are hearing is the thin metal from header. You should header wrap it. Should clean up interior noise

Cats dont affect your air/fuel ratio. You probably just need new spark plugs. The header isnt the problem

Put a 2 inch glasspack, and then a flowmaster on the tail. It might help with making it sound better.

2, they are only for the down stream sensors

MINI cat converters? you mean the sparkplug fowlers? I did that to mine and the bank 2 keeps throwing the P0161. cant figure it out. any ideas?

Ypur exaust gas is too hot. Your ecu do not see oscillation in your O2 sensor. You need either add a spacer or a dummy.
