    The PDCs have a unique sound to them, you can hear them begin firing immediately once you left the helmsmans seat. The bug is linked to a control priorities issue where the helmsman overrides all automated PDC control. If you want PDCs to work rn, you need to leave the helm because of this bug lol.

    There sems to be 2 possible causes (same pdc inactive issue with polaris).
    1. A pilot in the pilot seat overrides pdc authority incorrectly, so they wont fire much.
    2. The pdc may require 2 or more "active seats" in the ship to confirm its not solo flown, so the moment you jump into a turret or torp station (activate a second station) they start working.
    Or a combination of the above.

      Seems one of them is happening.

    at the 6:16 mark i can see you have weapons offline, is that a UI bug? fun video

      Yes it must be a bug, PDCs activated when I left chair and turret functioned fine. Thanks!

    I think the PDC's work when the pilot seat is empty, it is designed to protect the ship when the seats are empty not manned. Their is a video of how it works, it was discovered by mistake, I think it was a Foxyloxy video of the Polaris targeting everything while landed.

      @RedJay  Месяц назад +2

      We've learned since I published this video that the PDCs are intended to work all the time but a glitch in ship controls blocks them from use when pilot is in the chair.

    its awesome how the cap shields, even hindered ones on this 890 compared to a true cap like the polaris is like.....just doesn't give a F

    in ptu on Polaris, when PDC bug, sometimes you can trigger it to starts firing when the pilot gets out of the seat.

    I don't know. I was left underwhelmed by the performance of mainly the shields and hull of the 890. The PDC's did their thing, but I has mopped up by a few slicer ships on the Idris mission and had to jump after only a single engagement ! My hull was damaged and the ship was in red alert mode. It was ridiculous. I miss the shields from 3.17 or so when I could pull up to a station with max crime stat and take the entire station firing on me for as long as I wanted. The shields actually protected the ship! Imagine that! lol They would go down a couple points and immediately go back to full. Absolutely nothing would get through unless you got hit with a torp or maybe some serious ballistics.
    The slicer ships that easily got through my shields were shooting lasers. That's unacceptable to get lasers through a capitol class shield. I'd be okay for a very small percentage getting through it if the hull weren't made out of cardboard apparently. There is no way these little ships should be doing so much damage that less than a minute they can do enough damage to an 890 hull to put it in red alert status and most of the ship showing red in the MFD.
    Hopefully she gets some serious shield and hull strength buffs like before. The 890 isn't a fighter but should be one of the most resilient ships in the game.

    ... I'm glad this ship is there for the space-yacht enjoyers. I don't know who these people are... and what motivates them... but I'm glad they're there. I imagine they are Star Trek enjoyers who realize that all of the resources the Federation is "redistributing"... have to go "somewhere".

    People who think this is OP and want it instantly reverted and removed dont really know what they are talking about.
    The fact you lost the mission in a capital with full PDC fire shows its not OP.
    You can solo that mission easily in a single Hornet, never even taking hull damage and never having the NPC go below 80% health.
    Is the single fighters nerf worthy too then? Let the PDC target ships. Let capitals actually be a threat in close proximity as intended.

    • @RedJay
      @RedJay  Месяц назад

      Indeed, but do want to note the PDCs did not do anything until the NPC to protect was in the 50s on health percent and you can see pretty banged up overall. If PDCs worked from start and I had a turret operator or two (or blades) then ghis aould be a very different outcome. But yes Cap ships should be a serious threat to fighters, and with PDCs working even players in light/medium fighters should keep their distance from a cap ship.

  • @Auldus
    @Auldus Месяц назад +1

    Redjay thanks for the analysis. This was exactly what I was looking for. I'm looking at purchasing one of these and wanted to know how viable any sort of capital gameplay is in an 890. Also from what I've read in the past the 890 is unique in that it's believed to come from the factory with blades for all of it's hardpoints. If that is true this ship would be incredibly formidable and also the ideal cap ship for small tight knit friend groups. Or even solo play.

    • @RedJay
      @RedJay  Месяц назад

      Even if it does not come with blades right away, it has tons of computer capability so should fit them just fine. As long as you are ok with the ship acting more defensive then offensive then you will like the ship- then on top of that it has good Org logistics capacity in the back is the vehicle and cargo storage and from of the crew deck is hangar then everything in between is habs & services for Org in the middle of same deck. Its biggest problem is the in-game and website price is just so high, but if you can get past that it's a great ship. At very least its a great goal for pooling funds with a from Orgmates or Friends to buy one in-game.

  • @404-Err0r
    @404-Err0r Месяц назад

    Yes it's a bug, once you get in range, simply exit your capt seat and reenter it, your PDCs will start firing.

    How do we get these PDC's?

    • @RedJay
      @RedJay  Месяц назад

      They are added to 890 Jump, Polaris, and a single one is on the Connie Phoenix in 3.24.3 - next ship to get them may be Reclaimer if older documentation is correct.

    890jump shouldnt be so overloaded with pdcs, its still a damn civil ship 😅 But i very much love that ships finally get automated pdcs that also target fighters, as they should. We need AI blades so damn much.

      It should have the most PDCs, it's a civilian ship that needs defensive ability way over offensive ability
