Awesome video! I was searching for OEM options to replace my sticky/worn button. Your video help tremendously! Went to my local junkyard next day, got one, plugged in, worked perfectly (after got the code).
Im glad it helped! Means a lot! Not a lot of people know that some newer oem vw radios work on mk5 vws with this kind of radio. Really easy since its plug and play.
I just purchased a 06 Passat that already had a built in navigation radio, but it does need to be replaced as it’s not working. The specific car I have is the 2.0T. Will I run into trouble with getting an aftermarket replacement?
Ok so what you are saying is that your passat already came with a stock factory radio that has navigation? You still shouldn't run into any problems getting an after market radio. You will just need to buy the right harness adapter for your car. Make sure you go to a shop that are experts in selling aftermarket radios and harness so they can get you the one that will allow you to install one in your car. Prob wont be too cheap but i doubt it should be too expensive as well.
Good video, I've put a dab head unit in my b6 and it made the control module tick and ran my battery down. Is there an extra wire I need to get or take off the back of the newer dab radio. Tai
Well tbh I just used an oem vw radio so it would be just plug and play. As long as that radio is just plug and play it should work with no issues. After market ones you need to buy a whole adapter so your amp and everything else works with after market radios. Could be the reason for the battery drain. Maybe the radio doesn't turn off with the car.
With all honestly you would not be able to get an oem vw radio that has bluetooth to work with your 2007 passat. You would have to find a way to take the bluetooth box form a newer vw car and install it to your passat since the 2007 passat never came with bluetooth option. Best is to go after market radio im my opinion.
Look in your glove box compartment. Look up when you open it and you should see an aux input. If not then yours didnt come equipped with one. Im sure you can add an after market one but have never done it myself
Thank you for this video, do you know if a 2013 or 2015 vw cc radio will work for my 2011 vw cc sport? My radio has been turning off and on for a few seconds every minute or so and Im pretty sure i need a new radio but want a newer vw radio.
Not a problem! Thank you for the support! To be honest im not realy sure but I want to say yes! They are not that far apart in years so Im guessing both radios must take the same connection. You might have to do the same thing I did in this video taking the plastic covers off, but that would be all.
Hi! Well first of all this radio comes stock on MK6 gti/gli models. You can find these locked pretty cheap on ebay and all you have to do is call vw and buy the code from them for the radio to unlock. I believe its $20 for the code. Also the bluetooth wont work on these since there is a bluetooth box that sits under the front passenger side seat and that comes stock with the mk6 models and cant be fitted into the previous generation ones.
Oh okay . I have a 14 Jetta . I wanted a factory radio but the touch screen one . I have the basic one now that just says Bluetooth on it lol I needed an upgrade . How do I ensure that I am not being scammed on eBay ?
Is it a 2.5 or the 1.4tsi? If you are talking about the basic skinny one then i think you wont be able to but no entirely sure. If you fee comfortable about ebay make sure you read the full description of the item and look at reviews to make sure the person is a legit seller
It’s a TDI . & yea that’s what I meant that long skinny one . I really wanted the radio you put in . But if the Bluetooth doesn’t work then I’ll just might have to keep the radio .
Just bought a 06 vw 2.0t passat will this work well ? I am looking for a Bluetooth stereo to easily connect my phone or do you have any recommendations? Appreciate it!
Ok here is the thing if you want to install the same radio from this video then you wont br able to use the bluetooth unless you get an actual after market radio
Great video, question? I have a 2007 VW Passat, my radio is factory- No input for mp3, or bluetooth, just basic. I want a mp3 or bluetooth radio for my 07' passat. What years and model #s from other VWs will work with my vehicle. Also, my does not have antenna. Just a basic 2007 VW passat 2.0T turbo.
Sorry for the late response my account got hacked and my password got changed and finally got it back. Im glad you liked the video and tbh as far as i know the MK6 GTI radio works on the 2007 and i think the MK7 GTIs radio works as well but not completely sure. As far as bluetooth goes, there is a bluetooth box that sits underneath the MK6 and 7s passenger seat which connects to the radio but not sure if it can be added to the B6 passat or MK5 GTIs or GLIs. Your car should have an antenna for the radio unles it got removed but its not like the old days which are long and visible in the front or back anymore.
I forgot to tell you that there is a cable that you can buy on amazon that you can plug in depending in where your car has it port, to give the radio the option to have an aux port for it as well. Search it up exacty like this "TurnRaise Portable Music Interface AMI MMI AUX Adapter Cable " and at the end type volkswagen and it will tell you on what models it can be used on.
I got the same car the Wolfsburg edition and there’s aux in the glove compartment on the top left in the front you’ll never find unless u get down on the passenger side and look up I run a long cord hit the cd button twice to go to aux mode and I’m good so if yours is the same you’ll have it
Please answer did your use your old code ? Or did you use the code from the new radio and car ? That’s very important I’ve gone through 4 radios I also own a daily b6
Every radio has its own code so you have to use the code assigned to that radio. The code is supposed to be on one if the sides of the radio. If its not there you can call your local VW dealer ship to get the code using the serial number of the radio
Could u show me how to get Bluetooth on there cause in my car I have no USB port it looks all Bluetooth and I can’t find how to get to the Bluetooth 👍🏼 thanks if you could it would be appreciated
@@edwinmartinez2359 sorry for a late response I have I 2006 tdi mk5 golf and it has a Tiguan head unit in it I’m pretty sure but it doesn’t have Bluetooth that I know of
No worries at all. If the unit that came from the Tiguan has bluetooth then it wont work with your mk5 because that Tiguan has an actual bluetooth box that connects to the radio and you can not install that into the mk5 generations
Sorry for the late response my account got hacked and my password got changed and finally got it back but unfortunately it doesnt as you will need the bluetooth box that sits underneath the passanger front seat and idk if there is a way to be plugged in to the b6 passat
Ive been looking them up and the majority of the people are selling them locked but i did find a newer radio that fits as well and its better. Look up VOLKSWAGEN RNS 315. If you want to buy one locked they are cheaper and you can call VW dealership and you can buy the code from them for like $12-$20 i believe.
I recommend you getting one like the one i installed if you wanna keep a oem one. Offers better sound than the one that the passat origanlly comes with!
Is it a B5 passat? With the 1.8T? I dont know exactly how that radio is but im pretty sure you wont be able to fit the MK 6/7 gtis radio in your car. I recommend you getting and after market radio for your car since its cheaper to go that way for you

Does everything work including the steering wheel controls for the radio
Steering wheel controls work perfectly if your car has them!
Hi ive literally just picked up the same unit to put in my 2006 Mk5 TDI..what if i want to add a dab aerial?

I just bought a 2007 vw passat tfsi tiptronic without an aux or bluetooth stereo. Which stereo should i get to get bluetooth working?

You are very correct on that but sometimes the aux input code can be disabled. I have a video where I show how to re-enable the code!
Please answer did your use your old code ? Or did you use the code from the new radio and car ? That’s very important I’ve gone through 4 radios I also own a daily b6

It came out of a 2012-2014 GTI

I was thinking about getting one with navi built-in or that. Buying a 2007 2.0t wagon next week.
The one with navi works too and the navigation should work as well. The only thing you wont be able to use will be the bluetooth.
What do u mean by needing a code
If its locked you can get the unlock code from the dealer ship
How do change the settings
What settings were you looking at?
How to change the background and gas settings
You cant change the background on these. Also what do you mean by gas settings?
Can you recommend me a stero I have an 05
